Three ways to search for Houston restaurants
Searching our database by ZIP, name or category
Searching by ZIP Codes
- You can search on up to 5 ZIP codes separated by spaces.
Example: 77057 77056 77027
- Downtown Houston is ZIP codes 77002, 77003 and 77010.
- Multiple locations for a restaurant are always sorted by ZIP code.
- Our Site Map contains a list of all the ZIP codes in our database and the number of listings in each.
Searching by Category
- The number in parentheses following each category in the dropdown list is the number of listings in that category. Some have hundreds of listings and others only a few.
- An individual restaurant may be listed under more than one category. How a restaurant is categorized is somewhat subjective. You might think of a particular restaurant as being a steak house whereas others might classify it as American. When searching by category, don't specify a restaurant name.
Searching by Name
- When searching for a restaurant by name, it's best not to specify a ZIP code or category.
- Don't attempt to enter the complete restaurant name. One or two of the most significant words is best. Our search requires each and every word you specify to be found in the name.
- Be careful in pluralizing the name. We all have a tendency to add an s or 's to a restaurant's name. When these are not really part of the name, we have tried to allow this in most listings but we can not anticipate them all.
- If you're not sure of the spelling of a word, enter just a few letters found anywhere in the word. Our search looks for the string of characters anywhere in any word in the name.
- Avoid specifying Bar-B-Que because of the many different spellings (BBQ, Barbecue, etc.).
Sort Options
- The results of a search can be sorted either by restaurant name or by the category.
- Multiple locations for a restaurant are always sorted by ZIP code.
Search Results
Your search displays a list of restaurants, their addresses, ZIP codes, phone
numbers and the following links:
- Website Menu are links to their web site and/or menu if they exist.
- Add review allows you to submit your own review for the restaurant.
- REVIEWS will display all reviews for that restaurant.
- Map will display a map of that location.
Restaurant Reviews
- There are hundreds of reviews on b4-u-eat.com submitted by diners like you.
- These are accessed by clicking the REVIEWS link beside a restaurant listing.
- To see a list of all reviews, click on Read Reviews in the column on the left. You can sort this list by restaurant name and by category.
- To submit a review click Add review beside the restaurant listing. You can also submit a review while reading someone else's review.
Google search our entire site for your favorite food items
- This is a full text search of thousands of pages found on B4-U-EAT.COM. The most recently entered reviews and data may not appear in this search for a couple of weeks.
- To search our reviews, you might want to search for words like: sushi, best, outstanding, "chicken fried steak", shrimp, onion rings, pies, chocolate, cakes, veal, candy, tacos, etc.
- Always search for both the singular and plural forms of the word.
Example: taco OR tacos
Note: The OR must be in capital letters.

Searching the entire World Wide Web using a search engine
- Always include the word Houston or the city in your search. When using search engines such as Google, MSN, AOL, etc. to search the entire WWW, remember you are searching billions of pages. Limiting it to Houston will shorten the list. You're probably not interested in a restaurant with the same or similar name in New York City or London.
- When searching by restaurant name, a couple of the most significant words in the name will suffice. Restaurant names change. The registered name may be different from the commonly used name. Adding the words grille, cafe, bistro, grill, etc. can cause unexpected results. However, sometimes these are necessary to get the desired results.
- Be careful in pluralizing the name. We all have a tendency to add an s or 's to a restaurant's name. When these are not really part of the name, the results will be different depending on the search engine being used.
- Bar-B-Que can be a real problem! The many different spellings can cause problems ... BBQ, B-B-Q, B-B-Que, barbecue, barbeque, bar-b-que, etc. The only solution is to try several spellings or to exclude it from your search.
