Oriental Buffet & Grill

MY REVIEW: Most of the items on the buffet are pretty standard stuff, but there are a few things that stand out such as black pepper chicken, broiled stuffed shrimp and fried frog legs.

But the main reason to eat here is the stir-fry grill. The guy who does the cooking is Japanese, I believe (which probably explains why the sushi is so good). He really does a good job with stir-fry. I watched as he separated foods according to how long they needed to cook, rather than cooking everything at once. By doing this, the shrimp had a little crust on them--rather than just steaming them done like happens when everything is cooked at the same time. And I liked that the stir-fry station offered 2 kinds of noodles: spaghetti-style egg noodle and the ultra thin rice noodles. The chef puts the sauce on for you. When I sauce my own stir-fry, I tend to use too much which drowns out the taste of the meat and veggies.

As far as I know, this is the only Chinese buffet along Hwy 146 stretching from Texas City to Seabrook, so they should do well (as long as the Japanese guy is manning the grill)!
