Nick's Grill
2416 Mangum Rd, Houston, Texas 77092
MY REVIEW: This place is very odd, concept-wise. Mostly, it's a sandwich place, with steak, chicken, and melt options, plus burgers. But they also serve breakfast(!), shawarmas, pizza, hot wings, and wraps, with a few salads and soups thrown in for good measure. Don't get me wrong: the gyro I had there was very good. And I *love* the fact that it had a drive-thru (though it was probably not the best decision to put the microphone on the side by the busy freeway; we ended up having to drive around to the pick-up window to place our order just so the guy could hear us). It's just that I sort of expected more Greek offerings (spanikopita, moussaka, lemon-egg soup, etc.) with the vibe it gave off, and the only Greek things on the menu were salad and a gyro (not counting desserts). Disappointing. Still, the gyro was good and the tzatziki sauce was excellent, so I'll probably be back. Maybe they'll let go of the other stuff and just focus on Greek food. Diversification is a wonderful thing, but their concept seems a bit scattered.
