Taqueria El Nopalito
15323 Gulf Fwy, Houston, Texas 77034
MY REVIEW: This was formerly C*rown Diner, a chrome retro-looking diner serving American classics and Mexican staples. They converted it a taqueria by covering the exterior chrome with wood siding painted bright yellow. But they kept the large chrome front doors and strips of chrome on the building for accents.
They serve breakfast all day and Mexican favorites such as tortas & over-sized burritos. I opted for tres beef fajita enchiladas sided by above average rice and beans. The fajita meat was tender, had a nice char flavor and covered with stringy white cheese and red sauce. Very tasty meal.
Red hot sauce was ok, but the silky smooth, creamy green sauce was exceptional--and it had more kick than the red. The wonderful green sauce alone was worth the visit.
This place will be a favorite for late night diners especially with its freeway location, good food & service and loud music.
