MY REVIEW: I don't work downtown but wanted to try this place. I got my chance, today. I went for the whole meatball sandwich and selected beef and spicy sauce and I added mozzarella cheese. The sandwich is presented as two halves, which I definitely don't mind because meatball sandwiches can be a bit messy. This was not and tasted very good. I liked the arugula drizzled with balsamic vinegar. They have a good business, a steady stream of customers and I can see why.

MY REVIEW: First first and I ordered half a sub with classic meatballs, regular marinara, and added mozzarella cheese. It was AMAZING!! The bread was soft, but still toasty, the balsamic glaze was a perfect touch, and the meatballs were superb! The sandwich also came with a little thing of pasta and marina which is nothing worth noting. Seemed kinda blah and unnecessary to include with the sandwich. I will definitely be back for more!!

MY REVIEW: The food exceeds my expectations each time I have been. I happened to see Joey when he was on the reality shows then was very surprised to see him downtown! His food is fresh, flavorful and season perfectly. They have fun and work hard. Italian food at its finest. Some may say a little pricey, but look for his special. Its worth the price!

MY REVIEW: I visited today and was very impressed. I rarely write reviews but was compelled to today. I had the eggplant meatballs with the marinara sauce and a salad. The eggplant meatballs and sauce were really good, better than any other food you can get in the tunnels by far. You would not have been able to tell they were meatless. The salad had arugula, candied pecans, bleu cheese, etc. The total price for the meal was $11.35 with a drink. A little pricey for lunch but for the quality of food, I will be back again and again. So happy we have an option like this among the sandwich weary downtown lunch spots. Thanks for coming to Houston Joey!

MY REVIEW: I waited a while before visiting so that they could work out the newly opened kinks. I got the lunch deal (2 meatballs and spaghetti and a drink for $10). I considered it a deal...Comparable to the prices for other places in the tunnel. The food was very tasty. The sauce is different from what we are used to around here, which for me is a good thing. I am a native Texan and love our food, but have never cared much for the thick, sweet stuff we serve as spaghetti sauce. This sauce is lighter, fresh and flavorful. My biggest compliments are that the food iteself was hot and fresh and the service was friendly. That's enough to make we go back and spend my money again to try other menu items. The meatball sandwich is next for me.

P.S. Joey find a side kick or a lookalike! A large part of the marketing surrounds Joey and this gentleman pan prepares every order himself. Love the place and the personal touch, but don't burn yourself out.

MY REVIEW: Ever since I saw Joey Galluzzion on NBC’s America’s Next Great Restaurant selling his “Saucy Balls” I really wanted to try them (the meatballs). It took me a while to find the restaurant in the tunnels of downtown Houston but I finally found it. I talked a co-worker into going there with me for lunch.

As far as the meatballs go they were terrific! The sauces were great too. I got the sandwich with meatballs and regular sauce; when I go back will try the spicy sauce. The menu is very confusing and you’re not sure what or how to order. It would say stuff like you get 7 meatballs on an order then you end up with three. The staff was very attentive. What shocked me was how hard Joey the chef was working. There were about 20 people in line and for every order he took out his little pan and cooked the sauce for each individual sandwich or just meatballs in a cup. He looked like a happy puppy loving what he was doing. The restaurant is in a food court and I felt bad for the other restaurants. The Brooklyn Meatball Company was the only place that people were eating at. I really do hope that the restaurant succeeds because it is rare to find a guy with that much passion about what he is doing.

Cons: Prices are way too high. I mean over $13.00 for a sandwich with a few silver dollar size meatballs, side salad and a drink?

Spaghetti sauce is way too thin. It is just barely over the consistency of water. (I am from Houston so I do not know what a New York spaghetti sauce is supposed to be like.)

Pros: The meatballs are fantastic and the sauce has good flavor. You can tell they only use the best ingredients and spices. The chef cooking as fast as anyone can and still gets out and talks to everyone.

What do I know? I am just a guy who goes out about 9 times a week and loves food. Joey has the best restaurateurs in the country letting him know what to do and what not to do. I think if he just made a sandwich with atleast 7 of what he does best (meatballs) and a decent price, he would have even a longer line at the restaurant and he would still make a huge profit. Either way I will be back.
