MY REVIEW: The place is really decked out and dolled up with purple and silver decor that will strike some as FAB-ulous and others as glitz-tacky. Food is a real kaleidoscope of dishes, mostly of Asian character. Everything is good -- loved the fritters, liked the BBQ ribs and the tamarind red fish -- but it's hard to know how to order -- some are small plates, some are large. You can end up with too much food or too little.

MY REVIEW: Well.....some of the food was tasty. And the place is very pretty. I'll give them that. But for a restaurant that was almost completely empty during a Wednesday dinner hour, I would have thought that the service would have been MUCH more attentive. I'm not exaggerating when I say that the people behind the bar really just looked like they wished they could close the doors at go home. How exhausted could they have been with no customers and only having been open a couple of hours at that point? They absolutely could not be bothered to respond to our requests much less provide service to our group of three. With all the options in the neighborhood (much less across the Houston area), this is not a place I'll bother with again.

MY REVIEW: Great first impression! Eager staff, very comfortable atmosphere, complex food and unique wines.
Started with Indian pakoras combined with a sweet tamarind sauce - really good starter dish - kind of tastes like a complex corn fritter. The pasta with pancetta was by far the best dish I tasted. There's turmeric in the pasta dish that reminds me of yellow curry. Delicious! The garbanzo bean stew had a nice, light butter-like taste to it which I was told comes from the breakdown of the bean over the slow cooking process. Interesting boiled egg topped with red curry sauce, all on a bed of (jasmine?) rice and lentils. Lamb pizza with mozzarella, mustard seeds, and other spicy ingredients was good; the American lamb is very subtle. Looking forward to trying the bone marrow and the pork ribs next time I visit.
Everone I met from Neera (owner), Carlos (chef), Morgan (mgr), to Roger (server) made me and my guest feel like family. I'll definitely return.
