MY REVIEW: Went for breakfast a few weeks ago and loved it. Talked to some native Heights friends about Down House who said they had poor service and never went back. Decided to try it for brunch. We had an absentee waiter, it felt like 85 degrees inside on a cloudy day and took an hour and fifteen minutes for our food to arrive after odering. Had to walk to the bar three times to get our waiter. Food was good and the restaurant vibe is cool. Temperature and marginal service made brunch a huge disappointment.

MY REVIEW: The food is good. For what it costs, it should be. The wait staff seems inexperienced.
The salads are nice, but priced about $11 each, with little protein. To add a grilled chicken breast adds $4. The burgers are huge and actually cooked as ordered, but again, a $10 hamburger with a small pile of salad greens should be amazing. The coffee is good, strong, and not bitter.
The service is a little thin. We had to wave several times to get attention to request salt and pepper for the table and later for additional dressing for a salad. On a previous visit, the coffee cups were allowed to sit empty until I flagged down a hostess.

MY REVIEW: This place just keeps getting better and better. They have addressed the negatives and improved each time we have visited. The food is high quality and inventive. We had the pork hash off the breakfast menu last visit and it was spicy with plenty of pork and lots of herbs flavoring the dish. Every time I try something different, it becomes my new favorite. We may have to move to the Heights so we can go more often. The service is excellent and the staff are friendly and helpful.

MY REVIEW: Love this fun cafe! I told them I'm moving in! Fun atmosphere, great service, wonderful food. I've had lunch three times and brunch once. The longhorn cheese burger is wonderfully moist and delicious, Free-Range Lemon Chicken sandwich a dream, five spice pork belly sandwich very good but a little dry the day we had it. On the brunch and breakfast menu, the breakfast torta is to die for! French fries great, or side salad is great! I haven't tried dinner there (which they just started serving). My only complaint is that when full of customers, it is very loud due to the painted cinderblock walls and the open ceiling. The decor is very fun and easy on the eyes, but the noise level is not my favorite. However, this restaurant is my new favorite in the Heights....and we are soooo glad to have so many options opening here!

MY REVIEW: Tried for lunch recently and had a good experience. Had the chicken sandwich, great bread (roll) added avocado as suggested, even better!!! Fries wonderful!! Fresh!! Good atmosphere. Want to try the breakfast soon.
Not sure if can be compared to S*hade (previous reviewer), but mainly eat at S*hade in the evenings.
Glad to see another restaurant using the "texas membership" to serve alcohol in the Heights.

MY REVIEW: A new Heights hangout that focuses on breakfast, beer, coffee, soup, salads, and sandwiches. I have only tried the soups and sandwiches and am impressed. Soups are market-vegetable based and flavorful. A pork belly bahn mi is inventive and quite tasty. But a grilled gouda/goat cheese/tomato sandwich was a little too greasy.
Despite a limited menu, the kitchen is inventive and uses quality ingredients. The laid-back feel is similar to the three Heights' ****Creek establishments, but the food is so much better. Nice beer list.
The service is not yet up to the challenge of the opening crowds -- on a Saturday I waited 25 minutes for a menu -- but they are trying.
A great fit for its neighborhood.

MY REVIEW: This place is going to give S*hade a run for its money ! We have only tried the burger, craft beer and desserts on two visits, but will keep going back so we can try other menu items. Menu is not extensive, but there is attention to the quality of the food. Atmosphere and people watching are great. Wait staff very very very attentive.
