Hot Spot Diner (CLOSED)

MY REVIEW: First time to try. My wife tried the green eggs and ham omlette. She liked it but thought it needed a bit more flavor. I tried the large chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and sauteed cabbage. The cabbage was excellent but kind of a small portion. Lots of mashed potatoes but needed a bit of salt. The CFS was great. Too much for me to eat so took half home. Was able to cut every bite with just a fork and the crust stuck to the meat and unlike some places, half the 'steak' was not just empty crust. Gravy was very good. Looking forward to trying out more menu items soon.

MY REVIEW: Breakfast is great(especially pancakes) but potatoes are inconsistent. Lunch is good with exception of Shrimp BLT(3 small shrimp). Dessert is wonderful. Service is very slow.

MY REVIEW: My wife and neighbors went to the Hot Spot For lunch. The service was good the place was clean. I had a BlT that was served with out the tomato and cold. The rest of the meals were served as ordered. I won't be going back as the owner said that he put the tomato's on the the BLT and never makes a mistake.

MY REVIEW: We really wanted to like this place. It just needs so much tweeking in the kitchen. The first visit the skillet potatoes were barely warm, and it is such a shame because they have wonderful flavor. We let the server know and she promised to let the kitchen know. My husband's eggs were not cooked long enough and had to go back. He ordered over medium and they were over easy. The sausage gravy is delicious, but the biscuits are made with yeast.
This past visit we were really hopeful they had ironed out the kinks, nope. Again the skillet potatoes came to the table barely warm. My husband's omelet looked like scrambeled eggs with spinach (frozen spinach, at that). The toast came out 5 minutes later and then the sausage a couple of minutes after that. Not exactly the way you want you want your breakfast served.
We are disappointed and sorry this is subpar performance from this little place.

MY REVIEW: It's about time a family-owned diner opened in the Kingwood area. Homemade food, yummy! Who could ask for more. Make sure you save room for the dessert. Homemade pies from scratch....had the lemon merangue pie, it was really good! Will be back.
