MY REVIEW: Last night my husband and I went to the Bisto's wine dinner. It was wonderful!

Chef Dan did a tour of Spain. The food was great & the wine was paired perfectly.

The price was very reasonable, for a five course meal. The table is set-up family style with table clothes, so that all of their guest can sit together and socialize. Very european stlye, just wonderful!!

MY REVIEW: My husband and I found this to be the perfect spot to grab dinner before a movie one evening. The food was very good and the service was prompt and they happily answered our menu questions. The bistro is in a shopping center but interior is decorated so nicely, it feels roomy but still cozy. We'll be back!

MY REVIEW: Rude Responses? No, we are not independently wealthy. When a review is polite and detailed, we try to take action to fix the problem, when one exists, and do not respond. On the other hand, when reviews attack other people for writting positive reviews, or make personal remarks, I feel the need to respond. I haven't had to do so in over a year. We want people to read the online reviews because there are many positive ones and we do make adjustments when they are warranted. Yes, certain things ARE important. Thanks for asking.

MY REVIEW: As I looked at the owners' responses to a couple of reviews I wonder if he/they is/are independently weathy and this is just a hobby. I think when reviews are polite, detailed, etc.... they should be taken for what they are! Someone is clearly not happy... aren't these things important? I'm mystified.

I DO look at online reviews before trying new places. Perhaps the thing to remember is that others do too.

MY REVIEW: Let's have lunch at the Bistro! Great place to catch up with your friends and enjoy a great lunch. Panni & salads are wonderful. Try the clam chowder.

MY REVIEW: My husband and I have tried this place three times, hoping to find something worth returning for since it's local and in the neighborhood. The homemade pasta was incredibly overcooked all three times. I even tried different types of pasta, but they were all mushy and floury tasting. Given that and the owner's rude responses to previous posts, it's unlikely we'll return.

MY REVIEW: Bottom line - if you are looking for a terrific, few frills, family oriented, great food, reasonable price, quiet place to linger over a great meal .... this is where you want to go.

I travel a lot, I eat away from home 20 out of 30 days a month, so my point of comparison may differ from yours. But as I travel - I've learned to look for the places that invest in the kitchen, the chef, and the fresh ingredients of the dishes. NEVB does just that. Too many places invest in curbside flash and a high rent dining rooms that are designed to camouflage kitchen incompetence and provide an environment that distract people from the food - and those places are easy to find. But NEVB quietly sits just off the highway with an understated curbside presence and Chef Danny produces great food, every time,in a few-frills, quiet and comfortable atmosphere where the owners will take time to say hi and get to know you. Authentic Italian food at a great price. Personally - I go there every time I can on any trip to Houston. I give it 4 stars.

MY REVIEW: My family and I went for dinner last night. I was a bit disappointed. Although we were seated right away, service was terribly slow. We received our drink order and appetizers quickly, however, it took the waitress at least 20 mins. to come back for our entree order. I was also surprised by the prices. They were a bit high for such a casual establishment. Children's meals were $6 - $7 and entrees averaged $13-$14. Our bill for 2 adults and 1 child was just over $60!!! I had 1 glass of wine and my husband had 1 beer, so these prices are not from drinks. The pizza was delicious and is large enough to feed 3, but they do not have personal sizes, except on the children's menu. I ordered the Risotto, which the rice was undercooked and still hard in the middle. The flavor of the sauce was a bit bland as well. My daughter ordered the linguini with meatballs and the sauce was acidic. Given the prices and the taste of the food, we'll go elsewhere next time I want Italian.

MY REVIEW: My wife and I recently attended the first wine dinner at North End Village Bistro... it was simply amazing! The ambiance felt like a family dinner and before the night was over we felt like we knew everyone. The food was fresh, perfectly portioned, creatively plated, with absolutley "spot on" wine pairings. Chef Dan's creations convinced my wife to eat things she would usually never try (clam chowder, lobster, duck, and mushrooms). While everything was excellent the standout was the hand-made mushroom and pork sausage... simply fabulous! Don't miss the next one as I think they are destined to become very popular. I certainly plan on being there!

Owner Response: Yes, I asked "what do you want?" because the server was walking toward you with a menu and silverware and you walked right passed her to the back so, I thought maybe you needed directions or something other than food. As I recall, you asked if we had food. You walk into a restaurant and ask if we have food and we are clueless? I think we both would have had a better day if you did indeed turn around and walk out because you are the one who is clueless. Hope you find what you are looking for. You may find it in a can at HEB.

MY REVIEW: When I walked in the a heavy set guy asked me: What do u want ?. Really...ok then. I should have walked out the door then. no sign when you walk in and no server to greet you just walk to the back and "what do you want"????? So I stayed and ordered. First the ceaser salad, hot plate it came in made me wonder if this was supposed to be ceaser or wilted salad and I thought ceaser was made with romaine lettuce only and the nonproofed breadsticks were givin to me after I had finished the salad? Then the liguine and meatballs came out. Pasta was overcooked and the bland sauce wasn't fit to eat and I think they ran out of meatballs because they put chunks of pepperoni in it. Three meatballs and two pepperoni chuncks in it. then I watched as the server served over the top other patrons. If u want to go to a totally clueless resturant then go here. To bad because I live next to it.

Owner Response: So... You insult people's intelligence and taste (read the other posts), criticize my chefs and restaurant then wish us well and hope this helps us? Are you serious? I wish I could say to give it another chance but, we don't plan on changing anything because too many people don't agree with you. Thank you very much and I hope you find what you are looking for.

MY REVIEW: I can hardly believe the comments so far.... Our meal was not good at all! We were the 2nd people in at 5pm on a Tuesday for dinner. Salad fresh, croutons not seasoned at all and rock hard. The iced tea was weak, breadsticks were "unremarkable" but looked nice, Lasagna was a good portion but I only ate a few bites of it. Not nicely plated and it was dry...the pasta was so overcooked it was mushy. My husband had Agli e Olio and again, the pasta was not good... somewhere between chewy and gummy. We eat out once a week so we were very dissappointed that we can't count on this as a place we can frequent. I can live with new wait staff... ours was friendly and prompt.. Decor a bit sparse and felt more like a brand new deli. Prices seem to be fair... that's about all I can be positive about. I wish them well but I can't imagine others think this is good pasta. Sorry. I hope this review helps the owners.

MY REVIEW: AWESOME Authentic Italian Food. We went with a party of 7 people for a family member's birthday. The reserved table was ready for us as we all arrived. Everyone was so courteous and we felt 100% effort from all their staff in wanting to make our dining experience as good as it could be. Great food. Great service. I would reccommend to anyone! Perfect neighborhood bistro! Thanks so much!
