The Shack - Cypress

MY REVIEW: Went to the shack not knowing what to expect, got there and was so great fully surprised. Was greeted by the manager who looked young, but she knew what she was talking about. Had the cooter jack burger which was delicious our waitress, stephanie was very nice she and the manager did a fantastic job at making us feel at home. New favorite place to eat.

MY REVIEW: Food was nothing special. Ordered French Fries AND onion rings, only got the onion rings. Didn't get the french fries until we were completely finished eating - even after asking about them two different times.
Bill arrived - put the debit card down. Waitress picked it up - walked over to a table of 8 to take their order, placed our bill AND debit card on their table, and left it there. My husband had to go retrieve it from their table. Spoke to the "manager" - she couldn't have been more than 16-years old. Maybe that is part of their problem?
For the price and service (or lack thereof) we will NOT return.

MY REVIEW: Very good burgers - I had the mushroom burger and my husband had the double stack. We also split the onion strings - which were also very good. They also had a good selection of micro beers. I would definitely go back again.

MY REVIEW: Awesome burgers! Fries are okay. Onion rings are good.
They closed for a couple of days because of water problems. They are back up and running.

MY REVIEW: The Shack is definitely open. Great Place, great burgers. The turkey burger is amazing. If you are a fan of heat try the 'dang dang' burger, it is smoking hot. Family friendly, open air and a great feel. Check facebook or their website for hours. if you show up when they are not open then there will probably be a lock on the gate. Stop by when they are open and i'm sure you will enjoy the food.

MY REVIEW: A friend and I went to The Shack today for dinner for the first time with high expectations. The gate was locked, nobody was there and the mailbox was running over with several days of mail that had not been picked up. Did something happen to make them close the place?

MY REVIEW: The burgers are yummy, the atmosphere ecletic and the service not bad. Didn't know the buns had bits of jalapeno, if it was on the menu, I missed it. I loved the tiny bit of spice, but my husband didn't. Wish they had fountain soda. I like the sweeter drinks to offset the heavy burgers, not soda out of a can and it was expensive! Fortunately the weather was actually bearable this weekend, so sitting outside was nice. Don't know how that works under more extreme conditions. I liked the shroom burger with murhsrooms and provolone. Amazingly there wasn't just a bacon burger, which two in our party wanted, but the kitchen accomodated us.
We tried the garlic, bacon french fries. Not bad, but not really memorable. The onion rings were terrific. Both came on pizza pans... not sure why. It's not such a huge portion that it needs to and frankly it gets crowded on the table.
I loved the burger. Right amount of juiciness and beef to bun ration. My husband insists the burgers at L*ankfords are better. He said the difference was texture.
II will say sitting outside the renovated home, there was an unusual smell that I could only identify as moth balls that wafted sporadically in the air. so, odd.

MY REVIEW: This was our first time to try The Shack. We were overwhelmingly pleased with everything from start to finish. I'm the type of person who thinks a burger is just a burger, but now I realized how that was true until now. Great burgers (had the M) and there fries are as good as the burgers. The portions were very large and the service was excellent. I will definitely be back!

MY REVIEW: We're always on the lookout for new places to eat around the Cypress area so this one fit the bill. This little place reminds me of something straight out of the late 60's or early 70's. It's GROOVY Man! The decor is a conglomeration of tables made from pieces of old wood signs, new and old picnic tables, plastic and old metal garden chairs, rope lights and bare bulbed lights strings, etc. First song on their music venue as we sat down, Pink Floyd! Its the perfect Arlo Guthrie/Joan Baez type place. It's a laid back, be cool man atmosphere so expect whatever happens, happens! The menu is full of strange named choices and combinations. Food/burgers are good and in-line with what one would pay at a handmade burger joint. I'll be going back (in my tie dye) and maybe, just maybe Willie will be playing out back!
Peace and Love

MY REVIEW: It is a good place for a good, non-chain burger. And, right now, before it gets too hot, it's an outstanding place to sit outside, visit with friends, and unwind. We've tried something new each time, and would recommend any of the offerings. The brisket sandwich (can't remember what it's listed as) was tasty, but a little odd, and not because it has cheetos on it....the brisket was tasty, but spice combination a little strange, though the brisket was tender and juicy.
I like the onion strings over the fries, especially since our cheese fries last night were a little greasy. for the reviewer griping about the coke...they'll gladly bring you another for no charge...they're just reducing the number of styrofoam cups they use. Over all, we'll frequent it twice a month because it's good, but no more often 'cause it's a little pricey.

MY REVIEW: Stopped by after our softball game. The best food I've ever eaten in Cypress..PERIOD! I've never eaten a burger this good in my life. The Bad Decision was the best decision I ever made. A burger served between grilled cheese!! The patio is nice and they have plenty of room for the kids to play. Great place we'll be back again Sunday!!

MY REVIEW: Consistently good hand formed burgers. It can get really crowded but it's worth the wait. Huge, juicy burgers and hand cut fries. Cypress needed a place like this with great atmosphere and great food. I'm over the strip mall chain places. Long Live Love Shack!

MY REVIEW: I'm not sure why everyone is raving about this place. I gave it a chance tonight and will never darken their doorway again. I'm a very patient customer no matter where I go and somehow they found a way to get me to my limit. I had to ask what the seating policy was after my girlfriend and I were ignored upon entering, and after we got a table it took about 15 minutes just to get a server. After we placed our order we sat for almost another 30 minutes before our server told us they'd start making ours in about 15 minutes.
We finally gave up and went to the counter in an attempt to be honest and pay for the 2 lukewarm beers we bought before we walked out. I explained in the most diplomatic way possible that I wasn't angry, I just wanted to pay what I owed so I could be on my way. Instead of a smooth transaction the cashier snapped at me repeatedly even though I explained it wasn't really a big deal more than once, because to be frank there's more important things in life to make a fuss over. She just wouldn't let it go though.
The prices are downright ridiculous too. Our 2 beers cost $6.50 and the $1.50 sodas they advertise are really 12 oz. cans you could get for about $5.00 for a twelve pack. I could've bought a whole 6 pack of good beer for that much. The burgers we saw defiantly weren't $7-8 size either. Call me cheap, but getting something for a fair price trumps the notion of "ambiance" everytime.

MY REVIEW: Absolutely…BY FAR the best hamburger you will ever taste. You will love the creative menu and food presentation. I haven’t had a single bite of anything on the menu at The Love Shack or Joe’s previous restaurant that wasn’t perfect. When we had lunch this past week all of the tables around us were praising the great taste and looking to see what others got off the menu and saying “I almost got that! How is it? I’m going to try that next time!” I had the Billy Bob Nguyen and the brisket was incredible.
The Love Shack has a huge patio and a warm atmosphere. The service is friendly and all the details are attended to. The building itself is a work of art. Pretty soon The Love Shack will no longer be Cypress’ best kept secret. You cannot go wrong by giving it a try. You will be back.

MY REVIEW: Burger lovers rejoice, he's back! Joe from R*ock*well Tavern has opened his new place. The menu is smaller and the setting more rural and rustic, but the food is just as good as it used to be at *ock*well, maybe better.
My son and I had the Cooter Jack (Texas Jax) and my wife had the M. Both were delicious, juicy, and perfectly cooked. We sat on the work-in-progress back patio area and enjoyed the warm Sunday afternoon weather. The onion rings and fries were also excellent.
Be aware the the new place is set back from the road and has no driveway, no paved parking lot, and as of 1/30/11, no sign - so it's easy to miss. Also, their credit card machine wasn't up yet, so you may want to bring cash just in case.
The dining experience and decor are still a little rough around the edges, but burgers this good are hard to find and reason enough to make the drive. You will be glad you did.
