MY REVIEW: My husband and I just enjoyed another wonderful lunch at this terrific Chinese cafe. Their luncheon menu is quite varied - with reasonable prices. I always seem to select the shrimp with vegetables as my entree. The shrimp are sauteed in a light, mild, translucent white sauce with a wonderful variety of slightly crisp veggies - just like I love them! There were approx. 6 large shrimp plus celery, baby corn, snow peas, carrots, fresh mushrooms, water chestnuts, some bok choy - all light & fresh. Yum! The hot & sour soup was superb and the egg roll arrived at the table so hot and freshly cooked that I had to wait just a moment to bite into it. That's how I like my food placed in front of me - right off the stove!

My husband ordered the shrimp & scallops cooked Hunan style in a darker hot sauce. He also thoroughly enjoyed his meal.

We were welcomed at the door and seated at a lovely table. Yvonne provided superb service. She was friendly and attentive and delivered our food to us the moment it was ready.

We think the chef is excellent and prefer this wonderful little cafe over ANY Chinese restaurant in our area. The food and sauces are authentic - not the food you get at those buffet locations.

Also try their shrimp and glazed walnuts. The chef works magic with the addition of a bit of frothy egg white! Eat it there, hot on the spot - not carry-out. We plan to call in advance, place our order and see what he can do with a Peking duck....soon!

Give Cafe 1979 a try.

MY REVIEW: I arrived right at 2pm expecting that lunch specials had ended, but was surprised to see that lunch extends to 3:30 at this tidy little Chinese restaurant located in the space that was formerly T*equila's. They have done an ok job disguising these old Mexican digs, but fancy it's not.

I enjoyed shredded pork from the lunch menu. The meat was tender and, as advertised, the dish had a little heat. Came with fried rice, egg drop soup and an eggroll that seemed more Vietnamese than Chinese. Generous portions for lunch.

I asked the friendly waitress what were some customer favorites. She said any dish with shrimp. I love moo shu pork and see where they will combine shrimp with pork. Another favorite is egg foo young, which they make a shrimp version. So I will return to try a couple of my favorite Chinese dishes custom made using shrimp.

MY REVIEW: While visiting with a friend in Seabrook, we ordered Chinese from Cafe 1979. My friend had never gotten a bad meal from here, and they had ordered quite a few times over the past year. Upon the arrival of our order (delivered quickly to the house by a very charming and courteous young man) we found that our General Tso's Chicken had sliced JALAPENOS in the sauce (complete with seeds)! It was horrible! I called back to ask for replacement orders to be delivered as the meals we received were not edible. The owner stated that she had always made this dish with jalapenos. My friend had ordered this dish many times and it never had this type of peppers before. The best the owner would offer us was to pay half price for a different chicken dish.

Pitiful excuse for a poorly made meal. I know times are tough, but to replace the red chiles with sliced green jalapenos? and then to demand that we pay for the mistake??? Beware. I will never attempt this place again.

MY REVIEW: Had take out. Both dishes had WAY too much greasy sauce.

MY REVIEW: I am retired Navy. I've eaten at many Chinese restaurants during my tours and have found Cafe 1979 to be one of the best in the mainland United States

They have some dishes that I usually can not find. They are also willing to prepare a favorite dish that may not be on the menu.

We have taken friends to Cafe 1979 who are now weekly customers.

They truly do remember your names and how you like your food. Just introduce yourselves. We could not ask for a better place or staff. Highly Recommended.

MY REVIEW: This is yet another industrial grade Chinese restaurant that drowns their food in sickly sauces. I ordered the Thai Shrimp and Chicken. Not sure what was Thai about it; it was shrimp and chicken in a super-sweet syrup not unlike Karo corn syrup--disgusting. My dining companions were also disappointed. This restaurant needs a new chef and cooking philosophy.

MY REVIEW: We ate here last night for the first time and it was great! It's a lot more classy inside than most of the other Chinese restaurants in the area with linen table cloths and napkins. We LOVED the Pineapple Chicken! It's one of the few places in the area that seem to have it on the menu, and the best I've had. We also had fried won-tons for an appetizer and they were awesome too. The prices were definitely fair and the service was fast and super friendly. I can't wait to try their other dishes.

MY REVIEW: This place is excellent!! The quality is excellent. The outside is rather deceiving (kinda cheesy outside.) I hope this place makes it! It is great to have a Chinese restaurant that has excellent quality and delivers!
