Decco Cafe

MY REVIEW: I have to disagree with those who say that the food is overpriced. I went with my kids and we all had steak or fish, plus 1 appetizer and 2 sodas for less than $50. I don't consider that overpriced, since as a family we can't eat even at a fast food place for less than $20. I had fish and my only criticism is that I was not expecting that much cheese, but surprisingly it was not a strong flavor of cheese. We had crab cakes, which considering it had to perfectly cooked extra large shrimp on top and it was not a small cake, I don't find it expensive. My biggest criticism is that my son asked for the steak to be medium rare and it was well done. The portion sizes are enough, but not gigantic like most Texas restaurants. I really liked that. And the fact that the food was perfect on salt for us was amazing. Most of the times food at restaurants is too salty, but this was on the low side and they brough us salt and pepper just in case. The service was really slow considering the very few people in there, since we went after lunch rush was done. I find it great to have business lunch or a lunch with a special friend who comes from out of town. It is a quiet place, but it does have a little bit of ecco since it is so open.
Hard to find, but a good place to go.

MY REVIEW: I work in the building and eat there about once a month. I've never had a bad meal since they've been open. The food is often VERY good. THe service can be spotty, but I think part of that is because the kitchen is farther away than at a normal cafe. But they are friendly none the less. The decor is chic.
The food is not cheap, but everything is fresh and of high quality but worth the price. The Latin flair is well executed. It is definitely a place to have a power lunch to impress clients, especially if you don't want to be rushed. I have gotten a quick lunch there, it all just depends on the crowd. I try to eat at a lot of restaurants around the town, and this is one that ranks high on my list.

MY REVIEW: Customer service is a bit week, and speed of service is quite slow. Food is not prepared particularly well. Salmon tends to be overcooked, salads tend to be sparse, meats are often overly salty, espresso drinks are prepared inconsistently depending on who you order from. You're better off going to one of the other small restaurants down on Woodway around Chimney Rock. I work in the building and usually reserve the cafe as a last resort...

MY REVIEW: We went there for lunch and were pleasantly surprised. We started with the tuna and avocado tartare and it was some of the best I've ever had. It was incredibly fresh and delicious. My boyfriend ordered the NY strip and it came with a ton of vegetables- asparagus, mushrooms, brussel sprouts and smashed potatos. He said it was very good. I ordered the Ahi Tuna rare with spinach and the presentation was so nicely done that even the women at the next table oohed and aahed at it and asked me what I'd ordered. It was also very fresh and delicious, the only flaw in the meal was the potatos, I didn't care for the thick brown gravy at all so I couldn't eat them. The staff was very friendly and pleasant but it took a longer time than I'd like to get water refills. I would definately recommend this place though! It's a great place to get away from the stresses of work and have lunch. Their menu also had soup, sandwiches and burgers, fresh sorbets for dessert and a daily prix fixe menu. Our total came to $37, which was great for the quality of the food served!

MY REVIEW: Ronald I would have to agree. The food is pretty good, but the overpriced. Also, they try really hard on the service, but never quite get it. I don't think the staff is trained very well, so you can't really blame them. Maybe I would'nt mind so much if it wasn't so overpriced. You expect excellent service when you're paying that much.

MY REVIEW: well..it seems to me that the reviews posted so far are all by employees and/or management (the owner). The reviews sound like a commercial. The food was ok...i must admit the rolls were good..but thats it. I also had a salad that didnt have much flavor. The only positive thing about this "cafe" is the bulding where it is located. Very nice artwork and very art deco.

MY REVIEW: Oscar and Alex have a excellent lunch/brunch/breakfast spot. The open floor plan has plenty of seating options, and the service is excellent.
I went to the happy hour where they had unlimited tapas and drinks for $10. It's a pretty good deal, and very good food. The typical fare was on the table, but they also had Tex-Mex inspired egg rolls that were, for a lack of a better word, awesome. I'll definitely be back to check out lunch and breakfest menus when possible.

MY REVIEW: I go to the decorative center many times, and after a long day of walking around and shopping it is so nice to get to a place like Decco Cafe. The food is outstanding, the presentation is beautiful, and they give the most simple food a great twist. The service is good without being too much. The owner is so sweet and he always comes by and makes sure everything is alright with the food and the service and it makes you feel right at home. The prices are extremely reasonable and if you want a nice place to eat for breakfast or lunch, Decco Cafe is the place to go.

MY REVIEW: This place is absolutely outstanding at many levels, the decor really puts this place up in the 3 most beautiful places in Houston, it is inside the Decorative Center in Woodway and Sage so the place is beautiful. This is the perfect place to have a delicious breakfast and lunch. Try the "Chilaquiles" for breakfast they are to die for.. My favorite lunch so far is the Steak and Avocado Salad with a Lemon-Chorizo Vinagreitte that is out of this world. Service is really consistent and the prices are very, very reasonable..
