MY REVIEW: Tried it for the first time. In the mood for some good standard comfort food on the cheap. L*uby's just isn't hitting the mark and 5*9 Diner has gone down and the only B*lack Eyed Pea that was ever any good was at River Oaks and its gone, so I am glad to have found a decent diner/comfort food type food place.

I had pot roast, the portion wasn't huge but adequate and it tasted good. Came with a side salad before hand that was certainly large, potatoes, which were also good, and I chose green beans. They were steamed so they weren't soggy canned ones you get at some places. The person with me got the chicken fried chicken. I feared it might be one of those processed or straight of the Sysco truck type, especially given the low price, but it was a "real" battered chicken breast. I made him give me a bite and I think I will try that next time.

Both entrees had a big salad before hand, two vegetables and bread, with ice tea, tax, our bill was just under $21.00 (for two people, two dinners) and the food was good. I would go there long before I would go to L*ubys or B*lack Eyed Pea. Better value and the food was better IMO. I am going to go back and try it for breakfast too.

MY REVIEW: You cant beat the friendly service and no nonsense menu. This place used to be an I*hop but i think it is much better now. A favorite coffee shop breakfast for me.

MY REVIEW: Jackie's Kitchen has taken over from the former Ih*p restaurant at Mangum and Dacoma. With so many others shuttered, thank goodness one restaurant has stayed open in the neighborhood. The menu has a wide variety of all-day comfort foods made to order; service is fast and friendly in clean, attractive surroundings. Lunches to go are handy for area businesses. We're a block away and already regulars. Try Jackie's, you'll love it!
