Mint Spice Bistro (CLOSED)

 16305 Kensington Dr Sugar Land

MY REVIEW: First time there, but no kidding, best Indian I have had ever. I have been to many other Indian restaurants, this one beat them all, by far, the others weren't even close. I am not one to get on here and brag about a place, usually I only get on here to gripe, but seriously, this place is amazing. Aromas, flavors, textures, all were perfect. Chef came out to answer my questions about the food, he was extremely friendly, and his food was absolutely perfect. Truly a talented chef. Price is moderate for Indian, however considering the food, I would have paid more.

MY REVIEW: If you are tired of the same old muddied bland flavors left to die on the buffet line and being re-heated and re-served in Indian food restaurants you need to try this place. I'm so happy I finally found good fresh Indian food with clean crisp flavors (which is surprisingly hard given the number of Indian restaurants in the Sugar Land area). I have tried the usual suspects (tikka, daals, saag, etc.) and also some unique dishes not found in other restaurants. Everything has been great. I highly recommend this place.

MY REVIEW: Happened to stroll into this restaurant after a busy and late day of work with a colleague and boy what a Pleasant Surprise!!! Very impressed with the decor, not the run of the mill Indian restaurant decor and certainly had an upscale feel to it. And than came the food...... presentation was so good that we could not wait to bite into it.

Normally I prefer non-vegetarian food when eating out but decided to have vegetarian fare that day and was extremely happy with the decision. Had order Malai Kofta and Paneer Tikka Masala, both have a cream based sauce and we thought it would probably have the same taste but were surprised once again. Both dishes were equally good and distinctly different in flavor. Along with the entree we ordered Onion and Coriander Naan and Garlic Naan and they were perfectly cooked and had just the right amount of butter making it melt in the mouth Yummylicious!!

If at all I have to critique, I think the portions were small but with such good food I am willing to overlook that and yes I am going again, this time for something non-vegetarian . The food was creatively presented and heartwarmingly satisfying. Kudos to the Chef!!!!

MY REVIEW: We eat out frequently and consider ourselves to be quite demanding at times. Mint Spice Bistro exceeded our expectations... We were welcomed with a friendly greeting. The atmosphere is quite pleasant and the service was top notch. The staff could be better trained on some of the menu items. The chef did come to our table to make sure all our concerns were addressed.

The food - WOW!!! The Best Indian food in Houston. A viewing window into the kitchen allows you to see them cook your food. We were very surprised to see such an incredible wine selection. Another interesting note - unheard of at most Indian restaurants - beef & pork are both on the menu. This is definitely a place to frequent. Loved it!!!

MY REVIEW: I visited this restaurant for an early lunch on Sunday a few weeks ago. Unfortunately for Mint Spice, it is in an unassuming strip center on a cul-de-sac, tucked behind some other businesses.

It doesn’t look like much from the outside, which is a shame, because the food was delicious and the décor was fabulous. The menu has a lot of recognizable items that you’d find in any Indian restaurant; however, they weren't necessarily the standard flavors that you would find. Maybe, it’s more appropriate to call this "New Indian"?

Our party shared about 3 different appetizers, 3 entrees, and 2 desserts. All were wonderful. If there would be any complaints, it might be that the portions were small. Regardless, the taste made up for it. I heard that they have a fabulous cocktail menu, which I didn’t try on this visit, but will definitely try the next time.

MY REVIEW: I never thought I was a big fan of Indian Food until I had a great meal last Thursday night. We started with a sample of appetizers (which can be ordered upstairs in the very cool lounge) and had 4 smaller dishes to share. The flavors were very complex but not over bearing as I remembered by last Indian meal. The wait staff was great and never let my drink go dry. I would suggest it for lunch if you work in the area, or for a date in the evening. I have a member of my staff who has ordered take out multiple time for pick up when she is out that way. Although not listed on the menu, I did talk with he manager and I think that he said he would be willing to cater a dinner party - which I will suggest to my wife the next time we have supper club at our house.

Regarding the Lounge upstairs - M Lounge
This Fall (when the temps cool down) the patio out back is going to be where things are "happening"! It is a very cool after work happy hour spot. My boss, who lives in Sugarland, went there and told me about the place. His words were "It was like a Las Vegas Night Club" When I was there, around 5 pm on a Thursday there were only a few groups in the place but it was a great place for a after work drink. I have not been there late but I would think that the area needs a place other than the one or two place that are out there. Definitely worth a trip - easy to find if your looking for it (behind the Target) but you would not find it if you were looking for it. I would suggest that you look for this place. Enjoy!
