Picositos Mexican Restaurant

MY REVIEW: Picositos on Gessner is CLOSED. Please note Picositos's Mexican Restaurant, 2257 Gessner Rd, Houston, TX 77043 (about a block south of Kempwood) is shut down. Not sure why they chose this location as you can't see it behind the H*artz Chicken Buffet and 1/2 of the 1950s shopping center is vacant anyways. The only place that does business is the $1.09 Store next to where they were. I ate at Picositos twice and was only customer in there and the prices were high. Less than 100 yards...in free standing building in same parking lot is J*aurez Mexican Restaurant.

This location not visible from Gessner, is simply one of those places that is doomed due to no visibility and this is 3rd small restaurant in 5 years to come....and go here. There is another Picositos up in Montgomery County. Too bad before they opened this now failed and closed place on gessner they didn't do homework and maybe open up on I-10 in the closed China View or Mediterranean Restaurant just west of Wilcrest @ I-10 or even the large Buffet City just east of Beltway 8 @ I-10 which is fully stocked kitchen, booths and more, might have gave them a fighting chance!

MY REVIEW: I love Picositos. They have great big Margaritas and their lunch is wonderful and very affordable. Portions are large and the service is fantastic. The staff bends over backwards to please. The surroundings are modest but the food makes up for it. I am a Native Houstonian and know good TexMex and this is def. a good Mex restaurant. Try them out and you will be pleased.

MY REVIEW: This was our first visit and we very pleased with our experience. This is a second location for this family owned and run restaurant. The food was very fresh and flavorful, with generous portions. The atmosphere was excellent. Reasonable prices for the generous portions. Large and tasty margaritas. I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone wanting a great meal out.
