Garson Restaurant
2926 Hillcroft St, Houston, Texas 77057
MY REVIEW: Good food, good value, noisy main room, dreadful service. The smaller room seemed quieter. Fortunately, the bread was wonderful.
We had a large group (20) that was seated at 7:45, Friday evening. We had a reservation. The beverages came reasonably soon, but our orders were not taken until 8:50. Other waiters would not even approach our table when we beckoned them. None of the three managers standing around noticed a table of 20 with no food. The restaurant was not particularly full at the time, although there was a belly dance performance at 8:30. (So why not make a point of getting the orders at 8:20?)
Note to the waiters standing around: Customers who don't have a good experience at someone else's table today don't come back and sit at your table another day. Help a colleague today; have more customers tomorrow.

MY REVIEW: Drove by and stopped in by because we were hungry and wanted middle eastern food. Surprised by the upscale ambiance. Service was exceptional and highly professional. Ordered the lamb kabobs with dilled-rice--very good, but the big surprise was the stew that has the crushed pomegranates--so exotic--slightly sweet, slightly tart, savory, unique spices--a party in your mouth!! Prices are so reasonable. All is served with yummy, fresh, hot, flat bread and a unique salad of mint, goat cheese, radishes and other green--fresh, fresh and healthy. Will return and bring friends.

MY REVIEW: We found this restaurant on our favorite restaurant gift certficate site. Wow, were we ever pleased by this find! I think I can call this our favorite Mediterranean/Persian/Greek restaurant.
LOCATION: It's in a not so lovely building on Hillcroft. However, the inside is awesome. You can be "romantic" on a table on the side or be more hip with an interior table. They have a great patio, as well.
ATMOSPHERE: We love walking into this restaurant. There is a small bar but we always take a table. There is a large station that makes this amazing flatbread, similar to the tortilla making stations at many Mexican restaurants.
SERVICE: The service has always been very attentive. I would not say it is friendly but it isn't rude. It's like they do their job efficiently. Maybe it's a cultural thing.
FOOD: I can't rave enough about the food. The meals begin this this plate of feta, mint, basil and radishes. You also get an amazing flat bread, sort of in the same family as pita but it's served piping hot. I love the burnt bubbles of dough. Our first waiter described this as persian fajitas. We would like a little more feta cheese. All you have to do is ask. We have eaten many different dishes and ALL are outstanding. The portions are generous and food very fresh. You won't be disappointed.
OVERALL: We have been fans of N*ko N*ko for many years. However, Garson's has moved into the #1 spot for us. The prices, food and atmosphere are tops.

MY REVIEW: I just had another wonderful meal at Garson and wanted to rave about it. Garson is a wonderful restaurant on Hillcroft which has been totally renovated. It serves really great Persian food; some of my favorite dishes are beef kubideh, chicken on the bone, and, the oh so succulent scallops.
Each meal starts with a delightfully fresh salad of mint, basil, radishes and feta cheese. Take my advice and ask for onion for the salad--it makes all the difference. The salad is served with a wonderful flat bread that is cooked immediately before serving. I have never had a bad meal at Garson, but it is even better under the current management.
The staff and manager are delightful and eager to please. Garson is a dining experience that I always look forward to; I am happy to say that I have never been disappointed.
