MY REVIEW: Couldn't find crawfish, so we decided to go here. Group of 4, we started out with 2 dozen oysters, they were great, and ordered 5 appetizers to share. We got 4 of the appetizers and we were finished eating when our waiter finally brought out the 5th appetizer, by then, we were done. He was so rude about it, I couldn't believe it. We felt bad, but we were done. When I went to pay our tab, $63, I gave him a $10 tip, I wish I wouldn't have, he was so rude to us and I will never go back. We were all shocked at the way he treated us. We were excited about finding a new seafood place on this side of town, so much for that.

MY REVIEW: My parents introduced me to this place, and I am soooo glad they did! I am a regular now. If you like M*ambo's, C*onnie's or similar restaurants, you will LOVE Playa Azul. Playa Azul outdoes the competition by far in food and service. Expect superb, prompt and attentive service every time! The food is always fresh and amazing! Memo greets all of this clients with a handshake. The prices are incredibly low considering the quality of food and service you get from this place. I have never been disappointed. If you are into seafood and are looking to try a new place in the 77070 area... this is IT! :) Bon appetite!

MY REVIEW: I JUST FINISHED EATING (TO GO) AT PLAYA AZUL, OVERALL THE FOOD WAS GOOD. THE ONLY THING IS THAT I WISH THE FISH HAD MORE FLAVOR, I ADDED A TON OF LIME TO TRY AND GIVE IT SOME FLAVOR ALONG WITH SALT, BUT YOU COULD TELL THAT IT WAS JUST MISSING SOMETHING. THE FOOD WAS FRESH, DIDN'T TAKE LONG THE SERVICE WAS GOOD WHILE I WAITED AS WELL... NO MAJOR COMPLAINTS HERE (ASK FOR EXTRA TARTAR SAUCE AND SOME LIMES IF YOU ARE TAKING IT TO GO)

MY REVIEW: Definately underrated as a seafood establishment. Go here several times a month, always greeted with a smile and a handshake. Food is out of this world, Memo makes the expeirence more enjoyable. Once you try it, you will be back. Also, they will alter/tweak your food however you like. Highly Recommended

MY REVIEW: Delightfully suprizing! From the outside this place looks like a dump - I've driven by countless times & thought eeek. However, seeing as its been there over a year, I decided to check out the reviews here. All the reviews looked positive, so my husband & I tried it out for dinner.
Upon entrance to the restaurant my opinion of the 'dump' changed, inside it is much nicer - wooden tables, a round bar area in the middle & tiki type shacks at the back. The menu was nice, lots of appetisers, several grilled dishes (talapia, cat fish) & lots of fried dishes.
The Oysters were lovely, really big & juicy and only $7 for 12 (or $5 for 6). This is quite a reasonable price for oysters. My blackened talapia was very tasty, and came out piping hot - obviously just cooked and had not been sitting under the heat lamp.
Overall 12 Oysters, 2 mains & 2 cokes came to about $35. We will certainly go back again!

MY REVIEW: This place is AWESOME!!!! I would go here every day if I could.... They have the BEST Ceviche, it's always fresh and the flavor is delicious! Their Micheladas are hands down the BEST I've ever had....and I've tried many. I get raw oysters every time I go and they are always fresh. The service is wonderful and very nice, my boyfriend and I are particular found of Jesus, he is a great waiter / bartender. Everyone including the cooks is extremely nice. If there is a sporting event you would like to watch on one of their two televisions, they will kindly put in on for you. Honestly, I cannot think of any week points to tell you, because in my eyes, there are now... Great atmosphere. Just all round a really nice place to eat! They get an A+ from me! I'm going there tonight... YUM!

MY REVIEW: We eat at Playa Azul about once every 2 weeks. The service is great, the people are friendly. I haven't had a bad meal and I have tried just about everything on the menu. The shrimp cocktail is unbelievable. Great margaritas!

MY REVIEW: Take out twice, dining in three times so far. Great food, great prices, clean and friendly. I really like their fried catfish fillets, their gumbo, their stuffed jalepenos, and their tartar sauce. (Have seen WAY too many shell pieces in large and small sizes in the stuffed jalepenos. I made staff aware so this can be corrected). Oysters are shucked to order but not always served on a bed of ice, which I want. Makes them feel colder and me a place to rinse them. Food fresh and hot, great service. I would enjoy my dining experience better and be more likely to take others there if english was the spoken tv and music language in the restaurant. I would like a detailed bill when I pay but have always only been given a pay this amount to sign off on. $5 off two plate coupons on the back of the Kroger on Jones receipts. I think this restaurant should prove very successful if they keep up the quality and good attitude I see now.

MY REVIEW: A carry-out was my first try. That led to 2 more visits. When they have it, the whole flounder will knock your socks off. The flounder fillet was OK to good, but not up to the whole breaded (not your usual blah breading) flounder. Catfish fried just right. Flounder Vera Cruz also fairly good, but sauce made breading soggy; would have been better on broiled flounder. Salads satisfactory. Sides OK to good; better than at many seafood restaurants in same price range.
Strong points: good food for price, a good value. Relaxed atmosphere - not formal/stuffy, but also not tacky. Weak points: None for its type and price range. Now, if they can keep quality up or even raise it a little, it will be a real winner. Was told it is owned by same folks as a Tex-Mex about a mile away that's been there for several years. Ate there once and was impressed by their seafood menu which was well beyond most Tex-Mex places. Believe it was named R*odeo restaurant on 249.

MY REVIEW: Though it does not look like much from the outside, Playa Azul is a decent, laid-back place to have a beer or margarita and eat casual seafood. My husband and I were really impressed with the prices. This is not fancy seafood plates, but the food was good. A dozen oysters or boiled shrimp is 6.95. That beats any place we have seen and they steam the shrimp and shuck the oysters right at the bar. We also got an order of fried crab fingers for 4.95 and there were alot on the plate. Most sides are just 1.00. We also sampled their seafood gumbo and liked it so much, we took some to my parents' for Father's day. We definitely will return and hopefully enjoy the outdoor patio on a less humid, hot day. The quality, quantity ratio to price is excellent. And they have happy hour margaritas and the cheapest domestic and import beer prices I have seen at a restaurant, lately.
