MY REVIEW: I am glad to see another "non-chain" restaurant open in the Katy area. For my one visit there were definite hits and misses. The mushroom risotto served with the chipotle plum pork chops was exceptional. I would be very happy with this as a stand alone entree. The crab cakes were very tasty and a great value given the size and amount of lump crab meat in them. The pea soup itself was pretty standard, but the addition of a vinegar reduction was unexpected and delightful.
I have two complaints and some minor suggestions for improvements. My pork chops were tough and over cooked. The chipotle plum sauce was too sweet with none of the heat I would have expected from some called chipotle sauce. I suggest that they serve ice tea in a much larger glass instead of the tiny wine glass they currently use. I also suggest they upgrade their flat ware. My knife was not up to the dry pork chops and the soup spoon bowl was so flat that it was not capable of holding a normal amount of soup.

MY REVIEW: Food was fabulous - Katy needs more restaurants like the Twisted Fig!! The ONLY drawback were the drinks -- the ice water they bring and the soda all had that "sulphur" taste that some Katy establishments have (e.g. NY P*izzaria, C*edar's.) They need to filter the water and/or ice machine - then it will be perfect!

MY REVIEW: This is our second visit. We brought some friends to try out our new find. We tried the spring rolls, much to our dissatisfaction. If the waitress asks you if you want them fresh or fried, ask them to be fried. They are made fresh there for sure, but when you are given the option and ask for fresh spring rolls you expect spring rolls with rice paper and peanut dipping sauce.
We moved on to the entree the steak was just heavenly, great flavor and it melts in your mouth (the shiraz goes good with this steak). My wife had the pork and it was just heavenly and melted in your mouth; it was even good leftover. Our friends had the chicken and the salmon. He raved over the chicken, but she said the salmon was good but didn't like the fact that the skin was left on the bottom of the salmon steak.
For desert the chocolate moose was just so good, and RICH. ALL the deserts or portioned for two. So, when ordering think "twice" before you order. You might want to share with a friend, spouse or significant other.

MY REVIEW: What a wonderful addition to the dining scene in Katy and a breath of fresh air. Katy is dominated by Chicken Fried Steak and Mexican restaurants so to have a place like the Twisted Fig is a major step up.
Very warm and appealing, the owner was by a couple of times to introduce himself and asked how we enjoyed the meal. The only downside of the whole experience was no one said goodbye to us as we left..I can live with that!
OK the food. We started with the Cheese course, a plate of three cheeses, fruits, candied walnuts and toasts. Great presentation and the taste was delighful, all three cheeses were top quality. Was probably too large of a serving for just two people, I'd recommend it for a party of four.
My wife had the Orange Glazed Salmon and the persentation was top drawer as was the taste of the dish, came w/veggies and chive Spaetzel (you just don't find that in Katy.
I had the Chipolte Plum Pork Chops with the mushroom risotto and veggies. Two very good sized boneless chops that were cooked just perfectly. Unfortunately I was onlly able to down one and a third the appetizer had filled me.
Two things I didn't get to try and I really wanted to try 1. desserts and they looked fabulous and 2. the wines, small but excellent selection by the glass or bottle.
They are aiming high at the Twisted Fig and made it about 99% of the time tonight. The menu is small only four entrees, four appetizers, four salads, two soups and four desserts but there are enough choices you should have no problem putting together an exceptional meal.
The lunch menu is decidely different but I would hope show the same attention to quality and taste that the dinner menu does. I'm going to try to get by for lunch next week.
If you've been looking for something different and a little more upscale in Katy let me give the Twisted Fig very high marks. I highly recommend you give them a try.

MY REVIEW: We were pleasantly surprised by the seasoning of the dishes we selected. The crab cakes were the perfect texture and flavor with plenty of crab. The pork chops and risotto was very good. The risotto could be a meal by itself. My wife selected the Guiltless Acorn which was beautifully presented and the flavor was out of this world.
We will definitely return and take friends next time.

MY REVIEW: I popped in for a bite to eat and actually ended up meeting the owner. She was very warm and made me feel welcome! I ordered some food to go and wish I would have stayed so I could complement her on the food. I ordered a Chicken sandwich and some fries. The fries were to die for and the sandwich was even better! I am actually going back today to visit for my birthday dinner and I will definitely be going back again and again!

MY REVIEW: We are always looking for new places to eat and found the Twisted Fig last Friday night. What an experience! The staff was excellent, efficient, friendly, helpful and attentive. The food was out of this world. The menu is not very large yet but the flavor combinations that they create are like nothing I've ever had before. Very inventive, unique and (most importanly) very good. We don't have too many restaurants that know us as regulars, but the Twisted Fig will certainly become one!

MY REVIEW: DON'T let the apperance fool you. they still have a little work to do on decor, but the food is great.
We started with the Chesse plate, Crab Cakes and Spring Rolls. The Crab Cakes were large enough to share and tasted great (loaded with crab). the spring rolls were yummy and the cheese plate was great.
For entrees we had the Chicken roulade, salmon, and the pesto pasta. Everything came out great, everyones favorite was the risotto, so creamy and flavorful!
For dessert we had the mousse, I have never had tasted anything so rich and light at the same time. All I can say is Fabulous!
We will definitly be going back again!

MY REVIEW: This was my third visit. I have loved everything I have tried! This is unusual for me. The risotto is the best I have EVER had!!! The menu says the dishes come with seasonal veggies. They aren't kidding. I have not had the same veggie twice. They are not the frozen broccoli, carrot, and cauliflower mixture that we all know and hate. They are to die for!!
The crab cakes are the best I have seen or tasted. They are not the crab cakes that most people serve that are mostly bread and very little crab. These are mostly crab with a little bread. I have had the chicken roulade, the plumb pork chops, the steak, and the chicken verde. Everything has been spectacular. The chocolate mousse is the perfect end to the meal. They also don't mind if you bring your own Kool-Aid...LOL!

MY REVIEW: Spouse and I popped in one nite to check out the restaurant. The food is great but the ambience was lacking. The owner told us they were in the process of decorating as the place looks terrible on the inside. They had a tiny wine list available but also said that would be changing.
If this place gets their act together, they should be packed every day. The waiter was pleasant-a little inexperienced and nervous.
We are really hoping they can pull it together. This will be a prize gem if they do.

MY REVIEW: Okay this is simply the best tasting food in the katy area. Don't let the lack of a sign fool you, they are still open. Chef Ricardo is spectacular! His food is all cooked to order with nothing premade or processed. He uses only local produce in season and so changes the menu monthly. They are working on changing the decor a little at a time but the food is out of this world. It is about time we had good food in the Katy area and not more of the cookie cutter type chain establishments. We had the crab cake appetizers, chunks of sweet fresh crab meat delicately battered and gently fried. The crab is seasoned perfect and not oily and bready like most places. The chicken roulade is to die for, cooked to perfection. The chocolate mousse was devine.
Chef Ricardo even came to our table to make sure the food was perfect. He is a young but highly skilled and trained chef, please go and give this place a try. If we love a restaurant of this caliber in our city then we need to frequent it to keep it here. Give it a try..you will be singing their praises too.

MY REVIEW: Absolutely delicious restaurant!! Really loved it. It is where B*J's Grill used to be, and the zoning won't allow them to have their banner up, so they aren't that noticeable right now- but it's there!!! A wonderful European-style restaurant. My brother and dad got crab cakes as appetizers and adored them. I got the stuffed tomatoes and they were to die for. Also recommended is the chicken roulade! The wait staff was wonderful and I would recommend that everyone go and try out this local restaurant!
