MY REVIEW: My first time here, will not be my last. I like the concept: you pay only for the amount of food that you want (1 meat with 1 vegetable, or 2 or more veggies, etc.). For $9.99 I opted for a sampler platter which is 8 smaller servings of salads and veggies of your choice and 1 meat. Alot of food, alot of variety, easy on the wallet. Steam table allows you to see the dishes before selecting. I like this concept better than a buffet because the price is usually less.
It's been a while, but last time I ate at D*imassi's on Richmond they did the steam-table-pay-for-only-what-you-select thing rather than than the buffet thing like the store in Webster does. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of D*imassi's buffet, but I'm just saying it's nice to only pay for what you select. F*adi's in Houston (Meyerland area) is my favorite steam table Mediterranean restaurant, but Babba's will do nicely when I don't want to drive into a long ways.
The baba ganoush at Baba's is the smokey version. When I first stated eating middle eastern, it was not the smokey version of baba ganoush so I guess that's what I'm used to. I suppose that comes from roasting the eggplant over an open flame?? However, I feel that tends to mask the flavors of the spices, especially garlic. Just a personal preference, I realize there is more than one way to prepare this dish and each receipe has its fans. However, I'm not as open-minded about Baba's kofta----usually cigar-shaped ground beef or lamb with wonderful seasonings---but Babba's looks and taste like meatloaf. Pretty good meatloaf at that, but not kofta as I know it.
Their kibbi and falafel are good, but would be better cooked to order. Any buffet or steam table anywhere faces the same challenge with regards to kibbi and falafel, so not unique to Babba's. Same with pita bread, the fresher the better. And Babba's does a good job of serving pita fresh and hot from the oven. I enjoyed many of their salads and vegetables. All in all, this will be a favorite place to eat Mediterranean locally.

MY REVIEW: Food is fresh and light, restaurant is clean and bright, owners are friendly, and service is great. The reasonably-priced vegetarian sampler lets you select eight items, plenty to eat. The baba ghanouj and hummus were light and tasty and the pita bread was warm and puffy. Fattoush, tabouli, stuffed grape leaves and yogurt/cucumber were outstanding, and the caesar salad was tasty. I will be back again to try some other dishes. And Baba's has a "lunch club" card; when it's stamped several times, you get a free meal.

MY REVIEW: Not the best shwarma (I'm a shwarma snob),I've ever had but if I'd never tried shwarma before, I'd say it was a pretty good sandwich. Fatoosh had good flavor but too much lettuce and not enough tomatoes. VERY clean and friendly staff.

MY REVIEW: I've gone multiple times and each has been with different people. I brought my 3 best friends and my mother and all really loved it. My mother and I consider the hummus to be the best I've ever had, but one of my friends said it was too "garbanzo-ee."
Ive had the gyro 3 times and the shawarma sandwich once. I've enjoyed both and, to me, the gyro had a substantial amount of food. They also offer a wide variety of drinks, including coke products, various teas and lemonades. Ive had the baklava each time as well and I have not been disappointed. The pita bread has been hit or miss because of freshness. They have a little oven that they use on the serving line that produces some very good pita when fresh.
The decor is pretty nice and clean. Amanda has been my cashier most of the visits and she is very friendly and pleasant to talk to. Overall, my friends and I really enjoy going. I recommend it.

MY REVIEW: I am so glad that finally clear lake has a decent Mediterranean restaurant. On a scale of 1 to 10 I give this place a 9.50. I stopped in for lunch and had the chicken schawarma sandwich with a fatoosh salad, it was one of the best shawarma sandwiches I've ever had.The place is cozy, clean and the staff is very friendly. I am sure this place will be one of my regular spots. If you're looking for a good Mediterranean restaurant in Clear Lake I don't think you should hesitate giving them a try.

MY REVIEW: Well, I had heard good things about this place and it seems to be fairly busy. I phoned my wife on this day to pick up the kiddo and meet me there. She was running late and I took a seat while I waited. The menu seemed good enough. While I waited for about 30 minutes for the family to arrive, I watched them serve up the last 16 oz of cooked Gyro on the upright rotisserie at about 5:50 PM. That was it... That's all my wife and daughter will eat... and that's what I was wanting. Who greets the major dining out hours with a mere 16oz of gyro meat? Lame. So... needless to say,I phoned my wife and told her not to come and we ate at T*hai Cottage instead.

MY REVIEW: My cousin wanted a good Gyros so I took her here for her birthday, what a disappointment the Gyro meat was cold and the bread over cook (they don’t give you much either for the price), and please don’t order the over price and over cooked fries. I ask for some feta cheese they don’t keep that either. I will not be going back.

MY REVIEW: Pass up the shawarma as they cut the pieces off and then throw the already cooked chicken on a grill for a minute or two so that one ends up with dried out chicken bits; go to F*di's for shawarma. The serving lines offers a dozen or more hot and cold vegetables/salads; the vegetables are wonderful. Get a 9 choice vegetarian plate. I especially enjoyed the tabouli, the tomato-squash-zuchini dish, the Egyptian okra, and the delicious lentils with potato and carrots bits flavored with lemon. My husband loved the lamb shank. The Fattoush was too close in taste to the Greek salad and both just O.K. The pita bread made on the premises was just O.K. and really had the heavier texture more reminiscent of Indian Nan bread - more bready, thicker and less brown in appearance. Will I go back? Yes!
