Kira Sushi
1830 S Mason Rd, Katy, Texas 77450
MY REVIEW: I have actually never been there but have been ordering their Chinese food for delivery for quite sometime now as being from NY and having a Chinese stepfather I know Chinese food. TX leaves lot to be desired in this area but we have our few special dishes and order them consistently. We have tried a couple of sushi rolls one night with our Chinese food and they were good. After reading the reviews of their sushi I think that I may try it as a full meal one night. Our idea of date night is sushi and a few good movies at home but we always have to go pick up our sushi. I have been a loyal customer of the Japanese restaurant listed many times in these reviews(I love my Combo Salad) but because of delivery and price, I may have to switch over if not for good at least some of the time for convenience but will continue to be a loyal Chinese food customer for sure. I would like to teach all these places how to make real fried rice though, I have to doctor it up at home but if you've never had real fried rice I guess you wouldn't know this is not it. But I do love Kira.

MY REVIEW: I have actually NOT been into the restaurant. Their delivery is what got me hooked. The other night I had a craving for sushi rolls and discovered my car dead, so I googled locations. They are the only place that delivers! The staff on the phone and to deliver are very professional and pay attention to detail. Then the food is so delicious! The presentation of the food shocked me, I was expecting a mess, simply because its sushi and sauces, but it was so well put together and NOT just thrown in! I have been beyond impressed by not only the staff but the food as well, its a whole package!

MY REVIEW: I got the menu in the mail and decided to try it out. Delivery does take awhile, however it pales in comparison to the sushi and shashimi delivered. The Eel (Unagi) is top notch along with the miso soup. This is now my saturday night meal. I love this place!

MY REVIEW: Kira's has been my wife's & I Friday sushi place for about a year. Sushi H*ana & the other sushi restaurants in Katy (except K*enzo's) pale in comparison, for both freshness & service. The food has always been excellent as has the service. The sushi is always fresh and the presentations are superb. I highly recommend the pepper tuna tataki, a gastronomical pleasure as well as the Kira Roll and the pepper tuna roll. Make sure to ask for everything to be sliced not chopped. We have yet to order anything that wasn't very good to excellent. The mochi ice cream is superb, especially the green tea, mango & coffee. Also try the fried banana. The Sake choices are good & all are excellent.

MY REVIEW: I've been to Kira Sushi a number of times and it's always been very good. The service is good and the food is always fresh and terrific. The Sex In The Katy roll is unique and delicious. I'd also recommend the sunflower roll, but everything I've had has been at least good and sometimes great. It's a casual atmosphere and there's hardly ever much of a crowd so if you're just looking to pop in and get some good sushi, I'd definitely recommend it. It's priced fairly well, neither cheap nor expensive. It's on my list of regular places to eat. And you can walk to P*iccomolo afterwards and get dessert. :)

MY REVIEW: After reading the reviews, I decided to give this place a try. I decided to go early around 11. First, the place was really nice and interesting. The waiters rushed to me to help me and through the whole time I was there my waiter was very attentive to my needs.
I decided to order the Crunch Roll (which has jalapeno) and the Shaggy Roll. The Crunch roll looked amazing the way it was presented along with the shaggy roll. The sushi was delicious! The Crunch Roll was a bit spicy hence the jalapenos but I loved it! I strongly recommend this place :)

MY REVIEW: As we came around looking for a good place for lunch in Katy, we saw this Lunch Special Sign. We were surprised when we got in there and saw a beautiful fountain on the wall! We thought it would be very expensive since it was very high-quality looking place. Turned out to be lunch special was only $8!!! There were over 80 choices I could choose from the lunch special menu! Everything inside was really high-quality looking, yet it wasn't expensive at all!
I chose the Sushi and Sashimi Combo. The Sashimi was really fresh and tasted like it was real and fresh. It was only 8 bucks! Affordable price for lunch like this. It even came with Green salad and Miso Soup! The service was nice and they asked me several times if I needed anything. The only weak point about the lunch special menu is that it ends at 2:30pm. The time I went there, time was almost up!
Overall I would highly recommend this place to another person and is definitely the BEST SUSHI restaurant in Katy over all the other sushi restaurants. Also I don't even believe the other restaurants have lunch special for only 8 bucks! I have eaten at Sushi H*ana,(which is actually really near Kira Sushi) but I never saw a 8 dollar lunch special Menu! I will definitely go back and eat at Kira Sushi!

MY REVIEW: My husband and I checked out Kira Sushi, when we saw about 20 people waiting for a table at Sushi H*ana. We are regulars there, and were bummed about going somewhere else, but thought we'd give it a try. It was fantastic!
The sushi was perfect, very fresh tasting. We tried some specialty roles and found them to be fantastic. The atmosphere is quite nice, and the wait staff was very attentive (though it was quite empty for a Saturday night) I hope business picks up for them, I will be make...OFTEN!

MY REVIEW: We were looking for a "spur of the moment" restaurant and happened upon Kira Sushi. We were pleasantly surprised by the contemporary decor (cool fountain) and very attentive waitstaff. We had the vegetable udon, as well as, steak and chicken habachi and green apple sake (very good). The food was excellent. We highly recommend and we will definitely go back and will have Kira in our regular restaurant rotation.

MY REVIEW: The Best sushi we have found in the area. Having moved from the West Coast to here we have been looking all over. Kevin and his family do an outrageous job. Always new rolls to try and fresh fresh fish. The decor is also great.

MY REVIEW: We tried out Kira for the first time tonight. Yum!! We had 2 regular rolls and a special roll, all of which were creative and a nice change from the usual ones we have had at other Katy Sushi restaurants. They were all very tasty and a nice presentation. The restaurant was nice, with friendly and attentive staff. We will definately be coming back!

MY REVIEW: My wife and I ate here a few nights ago. The decor is lovely and the menu looked delicious. We ordered two classic rolls and a special roll. My wife's classic roll (shrimp/cucumber/avocado) was "pretty good." The special roll (Spicy Girl) was not my favorite. The sauce was not what I was expecting and I felt like the fish did not have the same great taste that I am accustomed, too. I felt the same way about the Peppered Tuna roll that we had. I told my wife that the taste reminded me of when something has been stored in Tupperware or its been frozen and just kinda has that bland/plasticky taste. I also thought the iced tea was extremely watered-down. On a positive note, the waiter was very sweet, although she did not seem very knowledgeable about sushi. There are a few other local places that I will prefer over this place in the future.

MY REVIEW: Lunch visit on a very quiet weekday - beautiful interior - rich colors, varied textures, high ceilings, tasteful and contemporary decor, and we delighted in the enormous pebble fountain - much more than I expected before walking through the doors. What a pleasant surprise.
Delicious miso soup, and our salads were fresh and crisp - the presentation was lovely as well - the elegantly carved small slices of cucumber capped it off like small bows on a gift.
The spicy tuna rolls were top notch - my daughter's shrimp tempura rolls won her over - and the yellowtail practically melted in my mouth. We boxed up the squid, octopus and crab stick sushi, and my daughter later gobbled them up and proclaimed them delicious as well.
My daughter accidentally spilled her soup in her lap, and the waitress was not only helpful, but also extremely kind to my flustered kiddo, and helped clean her (and the seat and the floor) without any frustration or irritation. Thank you!
We'll be back soon, this time for dinner, and with the rest of the family in tow.

MY REVIEW: I ordered the sashimi lunch, and I was a little disappointed with the salad, as it didn't have the ginger dressing that most sushi restaurants serve. The fish was okay, not as fresh as it could have been. The miso soup was bland. Not inedible, but definitely not my favorite sushi place in Katy. If you want fresher fish, fantastic miso soup, and tasty ginger dressing, try Sushi H*ana.
