Mo's - A Place for Steaks
1801 Post Oak Blvd, Houston, Texas 77056
MY REVIEW: Mo's....Where should I start? The best steak house in Houston people! I've been to Mo's a hand full of times and I cant get enough. The crab cakes with roasted pepper sauce is AMAZING! My second indulgence was the kobe beef filet; full of flavor and as cliche as this sounds.."cooked to perfection". Other than the food tasting wonderful, the staff was very attentive, professional and of course friendly. I cant wait to go back! Did I mention the crab cakes??
Good job Mo's!

MY REVIEW: I visited Mo's when it first opened in November of 2008, and have dined there a few times between then and now, and I have to say that I am very pleased at the progress the manager has made with its development. On my most recent visit, I ordered the Bone-In. It was cooked to perfection and absolutely amazing! The service was great and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone, and will be adding it to my list of "Go-To" places to bring clients.

MY REVIEW: I ordered the Cowboy Cut Bone in Ribeye last night at Mo's and it was quite honestly the best steak I have ever had. From temperature to the char on the steak everything was done perfectly. Spectacular food. I plan on returning to Mo's often!

MY REVIEW: Mo's is fine for Happy Hour. The drinks are expensive but appropriate for the atmosphere. The whole place looks really cool. Great people-watching. I didn't eat there but the food being served looked fine. Big problem, though - the valet parking. Took forever to get my car. 25 minutes. I won't go back for that reason alone.

MY REVIEW: Place was packed - breadsticks/pretzel were warm -- caesar salad was drowned in dressing, below average. Service was good. My filet was fine -- sides of fried green tomatoes was delightful, but the cooked melon & mashed potatoes were just so so. Shared the cookie dessert (not baked long enough, too doughey) & chocolate cake. Good singles place, valet takes way too long to bring the car though.

MY REVIEW: I have dined at the Houston Galleria location of Mo's several times and it has been a fantastic experience each time I have stopped in. Chef Eric Aldis is talented and charming and makes sure he takes the time to stop by the table to make sure our food is good and we are happy. Johnny V is accomadating and always has the perfect recommendation for wine. Be sure to try the Kung Pao scallops or Sea Bass.

MY REVIEW: I'm a frequent diner of some of Houston's best restaurants and had been wanting to give Mo's a chance. I was hesitant to try since the last time I visited that location it was B*ob's Chop House and although I liked Bob's...I knew it would not last in Houston's competive restaurant market.
My wife and another couple that frequents various restaurants throughout Houston thought we would give Mo's a try. We decided to try it during restaurant week. You know the week that Houston restaurant's normally try to put their best foot forward in order to obtain future dining patron's. For perspective, the dining was 2 couples in their mid 30's. It took 20 minutes to valet. They were having a big corporate gathering in the bar area. The place was hopping. Had a great table for 4 near a window and we were seated at 6:30pm. The place was very loud but there was quite a few people in the place.
We all wanted a glass of Champagne. We were asked twice by the waiter if we would prefer a bottle. We politely informed the waiter that we would be ordering some bottles of wine and just wanted to do Champagne by the glass. We opened our menu's and reviewed the offering but wanted to see a restaurant week menu. When our waiter returned we asked if we could view the restaurnat week menu. From that moment.....the experience became the worst dining adventure of our collective lives. The waiter gazed in amazement then disappeared with the menu's and proceeded to return and deliver the menu as if he was a casino dealer. He appeared again and asked us if we were ready to order..not do you have any questions? We knew we all wanted to try their steaks and wanted to try the steak offering on the restaurant menu. However, we did not want the topping they were offering on the steak. We didn't ask for a substitute just that we did not want the topping. We were told they would not remove the topping as this was they way it was to be served.
Puzzled we said okay I guess we would like to order off the main menu. Waiter still seemed put-off. I mean we are about to get off the fixed price menu and go with something that might add a little more to his tip. We had already had a $125 plus bottle of wine on the table. Finally ordered our meals with some delicious side companions. 4 steaks. 3 Medium....1 Medium Rare. Steaks arive..we are sitting in the window and can clearly see that these steaks are way over-cooked. Not a hint of red anywhere throughout the steak. The Medium Rare request was cooked more thorough than the Medium requested steak. Our waiter did not deliver our steaks...the assistant filling water and bread delivered our meals. I was able to track him down and asked for our waiter.
My friend and I have both only sent 1 steak back in our lifetime. So we were agonizing over what to do. Our wives decided that they were fine with their steaks and didn't want to make matters worse. Finally, the waiter appears we tell him our concerns and he takes our steaks back to the kitchen. Five minutes later the GM appears and tells us that he apologizes for the situation. However, he has looked at our steaks in the kitchen with his chef under the kitchen lights and they are.and I QUOTE.."Spot on Perfect". He gave us two choices. The steaks were under a heat light and he could bring them back for us to continue or he could cook us new steaks.
First time at a restaurant that bills itself as a Fine Steak House that I have been told the Customer is wrong. We were speechless. I couldn't even answer the gentleman. Our lack of conversation with him encouranged him to go forward and cook our steaks. The steaks we received back were fine and cooked to our liking but the whole experience left a horrible taste in our mouth. The GM did send a splendid dessert to the table but the damage was done. Our waiter never re-appeared.
Our check was delivered by our bread and water boy. Who I personally gave a very nice tip to in his hand as

MY REVIEW: food - check... service - check... watching the cougars and young wanna-be- somethings... priceless. I will not return. Food and service were sub-bar for the price point.

MY REVIEW: My experience was like foodie & MissLarry. A meat market with mediocre food. The only thing I would add is about the parking service; if you weren't one of the "cougars", "young and spoiled rich" or "dirty old men" with a luxury vehicle, you had to wait 20-30+ minutes to get your car. They lost the keys of one person in my party and didn't seem concerned. She questioned them politely several times and then had to make a scene. They promptly "found them"; she was there over an hour waiting. We were in a business group so they were being paid with full tip.

MY REVIEW: Hesitated in going to Mo's after reading the comments, however, as we are frequent diners at the various high end steak houses, we had to try Mo's. We were not disappointed. Our servers (Kelley and Gordon) were the best we have had in Houston's fine dining.
The steaks were cooked to perfection. An added plus, in addition to Kobe beef on the menu, is the option of a 4 oz cut. In this day of over indulgence and portions to huge for the average person, the 4 oz is genius.
Sure the bar and patio were busy and noisy ... but that is part of the fun! The General Manager and owner were both actively working the floor and checking on the customers. It appeared management and servers were enjoying themselves and not just "tolerating another night in a Houston steak house". We will definitely enjoy many other dinners at Mo's. This is a welcome addition to Houston!

MY REVIEW: Our waiter was excellent. Very attentive (almost to a fault) and good on recommendations - the amazing sea bass, which I wouldn't have normally ordered. They even brought us a free dessert because it was our first time visiting the restaurant. I have absolutely no complaints about the food. Enjoyed every bit of it. Now, on to the negatives. This place is a meat market! All the cougars and dirty old men out in full force, dressed to impress. There's also a crowd of the "young and spoiled rich" who have absolutely no class or manners. As we waited for the valet on the patio, we laughed and watched these idiots stumble around, curse loudly and gesture with their cigars. We'll go back for the food, but hopefully on the nights the idiots stay home.

MY REVIEW: Mo's strongest point is its outside bar; its patio design makes it a comfortable place to sip your beverage and people watch. The restaurant has to make substantial improvements before we return. The steaks are aged and the flavor is above average but did not meet our expectations for the prices they charged. The wine list is above average but the wait staff didn't demonstrate any knowledge about presentation, sampling or pouring. If you are clueless or uncomfortable about selecting wines you will have problems matching the selection with the food you are ordering. The service was not at the same level as the area's competition. The temperature of the steaks when served was slightly above room temperature; they were selling the sizzle but there wasn't any.
Go for the drinks but they need to improve the parking, food and service in the restaurant.

MY REVIEW: if you are over 40 and married don't bother. Food is below average, the loudest "meat market" in town. You cannot hear, everyone is checking out the opposite sex..its all about drinks and hooking up. Dreadful. You could not pay me to go there again.

MY REVIEW: Strong Points: Great bar area and patio
Weak Points: food just average/ piano music too loud
We wanted to like Mo's. It is close to our office and we have Girl's nights on Thursday. We tried it 3 times since it is new. We tried the calamari which was dry and tasteless, like frozen sysco. The sushi rolls were ok/nothing special at all. The steaks are below average. We like they serve a 4oz but get a better quality meat. Much better steakhouses in the area. I hope Mo's realizes Houston is a different foodie town from MN where they are from and step it up a notch.
