MY REVIEW: This was our first visit to CSG - and we thought it was pretty good. The resturant itself looks great - the decor is wonderful and very interesting. The menu is HUGE, a giant selection - it took us forever to figure out what to order.
We started with the queso which was GREAT. It comes with pico, taco meat and guac - and it's WHITE queso which is so rare. I was so charmed with that. We did order some jalepenos on the side because it was just a tad to bland for us, but we like spicy. With the addition of those, it was perfect. I would come back for the queso alone.
My husband had the hickory burger and said it was very good - I had the chicken fried chicken, based on other reviews. I ...wasn't so impressed. It should have been more crispy. It could have used another few minutes in the pan - it should be much darker and crispier than it was. But it was fine, I just had hoped for something really outstanding. The broccoli and cheese WAS outstanding though. Good stuff!
Our service was great - Melanie was our server. The place WAS filled with kids working, but they all looked like they were working hard. Our drinks stayed filled, Melanie was attentive- the food came fast and was hot. I don't have a complaint in the world about the service.
We WERE charged $.79 for that tiny little cup of jalpenos and I wasn't happy about that. I left my comments on the comment card. I can buy a jar for $1 - it was a huge rip off and I'm not really over that yet. It's not the end of the world, but I felt nickeled and dimed.
I give the place a B and it would have been an A if not for the jalpenos and the batter on the CFC.
We'll probably go back, if we're in the neighborhood.

MY REVIEW: My wife and I have lived in the Cypress area since 2004. The area was not developed and there were not many places to eat. We normally would go downtown or the Galleria area to dine out. A few years later, we were pleased to see restaurants opening closer to home. We didn't care for the increased amount of traffic though.
Cypress Station Grill appealed to us since the menu seemed to be good home cooking. We always try to support and patronize local businesses. We went to CSC when it first opened. The service was mediocre at best. We figured since it was new, they were still working out some wrinkles in the service department. The food was decent and we both liked the Chicken Fried Steak.
We have went on occasion throughout the years and never noticed an increase in the quality of the service. We just started to use take out. We recently tried dine in again and should have known much had not changed. A gentleman from a couple that was already seated got up and went to the bar to get his own Iced Tea. When the waiter came back to the table, the guest told him he went to get his own tea. The waiter nonchalantly responded here is another one. At this time we got up and left since we already waited for at least 10 minutes with no one stopping by our table.
Trying to be supporters of local businesses we went about two weeks later to dine in. We were seated for about 15 minutes without anyone coming by our table to check on us. Wait staff walked by our table a few times. The final straw was when a family came in after us and was given silverware and had their drink orders taken.
We requested to speak to the manager. He gave us an apathetic apology and said he was not sure why that happened to us two times. We later looked at the website to send an email to the owner and found out the apathetic manager is also the owner.
In summary we will not patronize this place or recommend others to go there.

MY REVIEW: One of my family members loves this place, so we come here pretty often. Finally remembered my check from the last visit, good for a free $4.99 appetizer. We ordered the fried mushrooms--really, do they only give you 6 for $5, or is that just the "free" basket? Mushrooms were ok, but nothing special. Pasta entree was good, as was the bar-b-que chicken sandwich (only called this since it comes with a side of sauce). The menu selections are good, and I've never really had a bad meal there....but.....the service is consistently mediocre (waiting for refills, rushing to get dishes away from us), so I may keep looking for a good, non-chain restaurant in Cypress.

MY REVIEW: Stumbled upon this place while looking for some real "American" food that was not a part of a chain. After a look at the menu, We knew we were in the right place.
I asked the waiter if he would recommend the chicken fried steak to a first time customer who's opinion would be based on this first meal.
He said, "The chicken fried steak is great, but, if you really want to have a great first opinion meal, try the chicken fried chicken." I did, and he was right! It was absolutely the best CFC I have ever had. My wife couldn't finish hers, so, we took it home and I reheated it for breakfast the next day!
I called a friend and recommended the place before we got home. A week later, we invited the neighbors to dine with us there and they told us they already knew and loved the place.
When I told my wife where I wanted to eat that night, she admitted that she had been thinking about the place all day! You just can't get a better recommendation than that. Try the chicken fried chicken, The waiter was right!
Clean, comfortable atmosphere and family friendly. Very reasonably priced and they don't make an issue over splitting food with your dining partner.
The waiters and waitresses team up and get you your food, drinks and anything else you need without delay. The manager should be proud of a team like that.

MY REVIEW: My husband and I went last night and he order blackened catfish on a combo plate that was on the menu. The waiter came back and said there was a $2 upcharge for catfish, they used tilapia now. My husband pointed out that it was on the menu without the upcharge. The waiter said that the information was posted on a whiteboard near the front door. We had come in the back door and not seen it so we went to look for it. It was on the board, sitting on ta tale and completely blocked by a fire extinguisher and picture in a frame.
Manager never even came out to explain. Waiter was great. Food was OK, but nothing to write home about. Probably our first and last visit.

MY REVIEW: I printed off a coupon directly from their website for a free ($4.99) appetizer. There was not an expiration date or any restriction regarding a entre' purchase. When I presented it to the waiter, I was told that it could only be used if a meal was purchased. I indicated that restriction was NOT on the coupon and was told again that it had to have a meal purchase. I feel that this is false advertising. I would have ordered a different menu item had I known.

MY REVIEW: Chris L. was our waiter, he doesn't talk loud enough so you can hear him and messed up one of our sides and was messing up the table across from us too. Wifey ordered their new "Pablano" Chicken. It only had one single strip of pablano in the whole dish! Chicken fried chicken was pretty good. Onion rings are ok but a bit on the bland side. We will probably be back but each time we go we remember how the very young kids waiting tables aren't too experienced at it.

MY REVIEW: Best visit ever...at least for the food. Ordered the advertised special, stuffed pork chop. Delicious! It was stuffed with spinach and goat cheese, and covered with a delicious wine reduction gravy with mushrooms. Sides were great, too, although they put nasty white gravy on my mashed potatoes, instead of the gravy that came with the chop. Service is still uneven; nice, young waiter brought me more ice tea quickly, but I waited forever for the bill. Still love the food here, but get aggravated by the service almost every time I come.

MY REVIEW: We've been to CSG now about 4 times. The food has generally been good, although we ordered the fried mushrooms once and they were dripping in oil (there was even a puddle of oil in the bottom of the bowl). The fried pickles are a much safer bet it seems.
The pork burgers were good, the hamburger was overcooked and had a burnt taste to it.
The food is overall pretty good. However, the service usually is slow. Each time we get a young kid that doesn't refill drinks unless we flag him down, and then each time, he leaves with your glass and comes back 5 minutes later with it filled. Seems like he should bring a pitcher around (was iced tea in this case). All the other waitresses were walking around with pitchers, and this young man just decided he was going to make himself walk a lot more, and me a lot more thirsty than normal.
All in all, we haven't completely written off CSG, but we've come close to it. The food typically makes up for the service issues so they kind of cancel each other out and we end up going there again. So, we'll probably be back!

MY REVIEW: We had heard from great reviews from several neighbors and decided to try for ourselves. We were impressed! The staff from the hostess to our waiter were excellent and very welcoming. The food was fresh and unique and most delicious. We also appreciated the relaxed atmosphere and not feeling rushed. We look forward to going back!

MY REVIEW: Wow! If you have never been here you need to treat yourself to a wonderful experience. It's not hoity-toity. It's casual done with competence. We have been regulars since they opened and we have NEVER been disappointed in the food or the service. We are not easily won over. I come from a family restaurant background and can be very picky. My husband comes from a long line of hungry people and is fussy about the quantity and price. We are both happy here and you will be,too.

MY REVIEW: We dine at CSG on a regular basis and recently met friends for dinner that had never been to CSG. I noticed new items on the menu and new drinks. It was fun to try something new and it did not disappoint. We all enjoyed our dinner and even tho it was getting close to closing time, we never felt we were being rushed out the door. The waitstaff was great! Our friends have since been back.

MY REVIEW: Went there with some friends tonight. Overall pretty disappointed. I had a seafood combo plate with blackened catfish and fried shrimp. The piece of catfish was the smallest I've ever seen and while the seasoning was well done, you could barely find the fish. My wife had shrimp primevera. It looked very nice but there was no spice to the sauce leaving it really bland. Service was slow and when we asked the waitress (for the second time) for lemon for our iced team we were scolded that she would get us lemon when she had time. I have to disagree with so many other reviewers. Poor service and bland food make this a place we'll wait another year or two to try again. Sad because it has potential and is convenient.

MY REVIEW: Went to Cypress Station for our first time today. We ordered the pork tenderloin sandwich and chicken ranch sandwhich. Also fried pickles for an appetizer. Everything tasted great. Service was very good, but we went early and there weren't many other people in the place yet. Looking forward to going back!

MY REVIEW: The family and I have eaten here more times then I remember... However I do remember the great food and friendly staff. If you haven't tried the seafood, your missing out. The mudbugs are great as well and have an awesome seasoning.
The margaritas are perfect too. From down home cooking to great seafood, you can't go wrong with Cypress Station Grill.
