MY REVIEW: Was totally not impressed with the burgers or fries. The best way I can describe the burger is a steamed patty melt? No frills burger. Not large either. Wasn't impressed with the super skinny fries either.

MY REVIEW: I don't think you can fully appreciate S&S unless you grew up in the midwest. I have wonderful memories of going here every Friday night as a kid. I love (and still do love) their thin, crispy french fries. Their shakes are to die for, and the burgers still taste great to me. Perhaps this is, in part, due to the memories this place evokes, but I still enjoy eating here as an adult.

MY REVIEW: Burgers - Good
Shakes - Thin
Fries - Cold and limp
Onion Rings - OK, but not great.
Service - Listless, not terribly happy to actually serve customers.

We went the first time on a Sunday afternoon, and the place was full in mid-afternoon.

No one seemed to be terribly thrilled to see us, but we were intrigued and liked the concept.

Service was slow, but the burgers were good, but thin. However, since the price was moderate, it was to be expected. Fries were obviously old and cold.

We'll go back, but only for a burger, no fries, no frills.

MY REVIEW: This was honestly the worst fast food burger place I have ever been to. We drove through and got two burgers, fries, onion rings, and shakes. The shakes were the only eidible part. We actually took the time to return them to the place. The meat was tiny and ice cold, the fries were dried up cold and tiny, and the onion rings had no flavor. Do not waste your money. Maybe they'll get better with time, but they should be embarrassed by what they were passing off as food.

MY REVIEW: I am from St. Louis ,but have lived in Houston for 20 years. I am so thrilled that we finally have a Steak N Shake here. It was packed today at lunch, but the standing line moved quickly. The burger and fries were the same as in St. Louis. Delicous! My sons half and half shake (strawberry and vanilla) was a special treat. Hopefully they will open one closer to me in the Memorial Villages area, but until then, I will continue to drive 20 miles for a great steak burger!

MY REVIEW: I disagree with the previous reviewers. I'm originally from Illinois, and Steak and Shake is one of the better restaurant chains there. My cousin vacations in Illinois so he can eat at Steak and Shake. I ate at the 1960 location, and I certainly had no complaints. The food was good, the restaurant was very clean, and the service was excellent. It may not be as good as B*eck's, but it costs half as much. There was a line out the door waiting to get in at 5:30 on a Sunday, which is a pretty good endorsement of the restaurant.

MY REVIEW: Visited this restaurant during it's "dry run" before grand opening. Was not impressed. The burger was on the small side and greasy....the fries were lacking and the portion served filled half the container. Won't be going back.

MY REVIEW: Ho-hum (tiny) burgers served on china - wait, what?

I don't understand all the hype over this place. The fries were awful little pre-frozen sticks and the onion rings were unbearably greasy.

With Bellaire B*r01ler, C*hris' U know what and S*am's, this place will only stay alive because of people not wanting to venture outside of NW Houston.

Will not be back.
