MY REVIEW: Pollo Asado is the main offering here - charcoal chicken - and it’s very good although the pieces are kind of small. The smallest order is 1/4 chicken, 2 pieces, plus 3 sides for $4.99. There are 15 sides to choose from including regular or Mexican rice, red beans or ranchero beans, new potato, casava fries, plantanos maduros, tortilla, arepa or biscuit and mixed vegetables among others.

Besides the chicken there are both Colombian and Salvadoran dishes (tamales) on the menu and Salvadoran style curtido on the tables. I noted a poster for bandeja paisa, a typical Colombian dish. On the menu, it’s listed as Montanero Makro. This includes chicharron, Colombian style chorizo, skirt steak, rice, red beans, a fried egg, plantanos maduros, avocado and an arepa, all for $7.75. It’s a good version of this dish which is served at several Colombian restaurants around the city.

It’s a clean and spacious restaurant on the inside despite being in a rather trashy strip center. Dark tinting and awnings over the outside tables help protect from the sun (large west-facing windows). They’re open for breakfast and until midnight during the week, 24 hours on weekends. It helps to speak a little Spanish but there are English translations on the menu board and menus.
