MY REVIEW: This place has definitely one-upped the previous tenant, Las R*osas. The place has been upgraded both inside and out. There are now 2 patios, which pretty much wrap around the establishment and there's even a nice playground for the kiddos. The atmosphere on the patio is fun and creative with the outdoor decor, and the band playing Sat. night (10/4/08) was excellent. It was packed, but the service was still excellent and didn't lack. We were there for just drinks so unfortunately didn't try the food, but we will be going back very soon. They're drink specials during the week seem to be very attractive so this place is a must for friends & get-togethers. It's also a plus for families so depending on which is right for you, this restaurant has it all!

MY REVIEW: I was skeptical after all of the reviews here, but it goes to show, most people only post negative reviews. Went on a Saturday night with 5 people. Waited MAYBE 5 minutes for a patio table. The side patio is nice and can hear the band, but still have conversation. Waiter was great and even after we paid....decided to have another drink, no problem. Someone was right there to take our order and help us out! (Thanks Bryan!) Food was good as were the drinks! Very nice to have a place like this in Katy.

MY REVIEW: When I went there I had the worst service I have ever experienced in a restaurant. The waiter didn't take our order for 30 minutes after he took our drinks. Then, when he did take my order he took me the wrong food. Also it took many minutes later just to get our check. It was almost as if they forgot we were there. I was extremely shocked by how bad the service was there.

MY REVIEW: Went there Sunday night with some friends. Had been there one time before just for drinks and was impressed with the atmosphere. This time there were very few people in the place, yet the service was still slow. My friend had her coke refilled twice before I could get my margarita or get our food order taken. the waiter asked if we wanted any queso or appetizers and was at the next table before we could even answer. Met the manager and he was nice, but wait staff was horrible. Food was decent, but definitely not top quality.

MY REVIEW: Great food! there was a long wait for a table but what can you expect from a great restaurant on a friday night? ok, so from the previous posts i knew service was hit or miss and we had great service. we got there about 6.30pm and waited for about 20 minutes. no one offered us anything to drink, buti can imagine the number of people who drink and dash with such a long wait. the bar was seat yourself and i wasnt aware you could wait for yor table on benches and small sets-ups on the back patio (which was great for our 4 y/o) she palyed and we waited for our table. the prices were good, our service that night was exceptional! i will definately be back, if nothing else, for the ambiance alone. The view from the patio was so soothing, even with all the street sounds and kids playing... that place was needed in Katy years ago!

MY REVIEW: I absolutely love this restaurant! The food is amazing and the managers are great!

They have live entertainment on the weekends and the best margaritas around. Happy hour is also Monday through Friday which me and my family love to attend.

We have been here numerous times and it is a great family owned restaurant. My experience with the wait staff has always been great! The sunday buffet is also great for families.

Great addition to Katy!

MY REVIEW: I just wanted to say that this place is wonderful! I had a small (25 People) wedding rehearsal lunch in one of their party rooms and everything turned out great. Their prices are reasonable and everyone loved the food. Thanks Vida loca! And to the Manager Malaki and my waitress Rebecca for making our wedding rehearsal lunch great. Katy really needed a restaurant like this I highly recommend it and it’s a great place to have small gathering parties.

MY REVIEW: After reading some of the reviews her I was looking forward to going to this restaurant. Our experience started out well, but quickly went south. The service was AWFUL. I usually wouldn't take the time to review an establishment but I was so dissapointed with the service and attitude of the staff I feel compelled to say something. It took almost an hour to get our food and when we finally did it was bland and boring. If you are looking for good Mexican food with lots of flavor look elsewhere. After eating what we could and just wanting to leave at this point it took another 20 minutes to get our check. Needless to say I will not return or recommend this place to anyone.

MY REVIEW: Love this place. Katy needed a restaurant with a great atmosphere! The service is slow but I'm sure because they are so busy...but after a couple of margaritas...who cares! Their fajitas and margaritas are great. I love how they have lounge chairs on the patio. This is great if you just want to unwind with a margarita and their live entertainment. Their bar is great too. You can either sit inside or outdoors on the bar.

MY REVIEW: Great! My 18 month old baby was not in a great mood when we left the house, but we really wanted to go out and decided upon Vida Loca because of the outdoor play area. She loved it and was very content the whole time with all the kids around.

The meal was very good. Great beef, chicken and cheese enchiladas! Didn't care for the hot sauce / green sauce and white cheese queso. Warm, friendly atmosphere with good wait staff and friendly hostesses. The prices are very reasonable.

We'll definitely be back!

MY REVIEW: What a great addition to Katy! We have been to this restaurant twice and each time the service has been great and the food was yummy. My husband and I also visited one evening for happy hour and had a fun time sitting out on the fabulous patio drinking margaritas and watching the Astros on one of the many big screen televisions. As mentioned earlier this is a great family restaurant especially since their kids menu include such things as mac & cheese and hamburgers as well some tex mex favorites.

MY REVIEW: I love this place everything about it was inviting and relaxing. I sat inside and I cant bost enough about how beautiful the atmosphere was. The margaritas were fantastic I havent had a margarita like that sence I went to mexico. I had the shrimp avacado and I never finish my food and I ate the whole plate it was so good. This place really apeals to all of your senses. The managers droped by a few times to make sure everything was alright. Our waitress Faith was great. Vary attentive and sweet. Me and my boyfriend will be regulers here. We both agree that Katy needed a place like this! I will be sending all of my friends there.

MY REVIEW: Ok It is new.. and should be given a chance. The food is really good and yes the service is hit or miss but they are really trying and it will be great. This biz is tough and like any new restaurant it seems to be under the looking glass. I think they are doing and bang up job and continue to improve with each visit. The margaritas are awsome! I loved the chicken tacos too! My son loves the unique ice cream bar! The patio is HUGE and fun! They even have a person watching the kids on the playground.

MY REVIEW: We are so happy to have Vida Loca in Katy. It is such a pretty place and the food, especially the fajitas and salsa are spectacular. The service, however, needs much to be desired. I'm hoping that they will improve on that because it would be a shame to see their business fall off because of such a fixable issue. Best of luck to Vida Loca and it is definitely worth your time to give it a try.

MY REVIEW: i dont know what the deal is with a few of the other folks on this page but this place is GREAT!! The managers are always coming by the table to check on you, the food is great and the service is really good. the other folks leaving negative comments should try the other mexican restaurants in katy- they dont even sweep and mop. these people just opened and are already the best in town.

ill be back twice a week!!!

MY REVIEW: The restaurant is very nice, ambiance is great and the food is really good too. It's very busy, and not easy to get a table around dinner time without some waiting and they don't take reservations or "call ahead seating" for couples. The restaurant is also really loud and a bit chaotic; the staff members blast past tables, inside and out, yet they don't seem to be providing much service to customers sitting at tables.

I wouldn't recommend Vida Loca for couples seeking a quiet, relaxing or romantic evening out. I'm sure it was intended to be "family friendly" which is a great concept when the kids are controlled. We are 40 yr old working professionals who eat out almost every night, the last thing we look forward to at the end of a long day is to go to dinner to have a relaxing meal with packs of wild screaming kids running around everywhere. ;-)

We will give it another try - we just need to find the right time of day/evening where it isn't quite so crazy.

MY REVIEW: We went for our second visit last night. Unfortunately, it wasn't as good as our first visit during the soft opening (see Vim's review below on 5/23/08 - we were the other couple with him and his wife). During the soft opening, the restuarant was a buzz with plenty of waitstaff who tried their best and were very attentive. My husband and I were eager to try the restuarant again now that they are officially open. The food was still good, the atmosphere is great, but the service from beginning to end was terrible. We can be very patient & understanding with bad service if the waiter is personable and apologetic, but our waitress either didn't have a clue or didn't care.

I won't go into all of the specifics of what went wrong for us and what we observed for customers at tables around us, but I will simply say this - unless the owners and managers figure out how to provide GREAT service and TRAIN their staff to provide great service, customers will not come back nor will they recommend Vida Loca to their friends. In our two visits, I did not see any managers visiting tables to ask customers to thank them for coming, ask about their experience, or at the very least walking the floor to oversee interactions between staff and customers.

This restuarant has a fantastic menu, good food, beautiful patios with ceiling fans and breezes to keep you cool, a great bar area, a supervised play area for kids, etc. etc. but none of that matters if you don't provide service that people will rave about. It would be such a shame to see this restuarant fail to figure out how to provide great customer service.

MY REVIEW: We went on Sunday night for dinner, didn't have to wait for a table, but waited 15 minutes for anyone to take our drink order. The atmoshpere is great, my kids love the play area, but they've got a lot of work to do on their service. From the time we sat on the huge patio, it took about an hour to get our food. The food was probably good, but by the time it got to us it was cold. The waiter was apologetic and helpful, I just think he had too many customers to provide adequate service. I will try it again, but I'll wait a few weeks to see if they can get there operations up to par. Didn't see a manager anywhere helping take care of the customers, maybe that's the problem???

MY REVIEW: Vida Loca has great margaritas, great tasting food (especially the fajitas) at reasonable prices. The patio is awesome, big TVs everywhere, and they stay open late so you can watch TV, listen to music, and drink. I think Vida Loca is way better than the previous restaurant that was there.

MY REVIEW: This is a great improvement over the former Mexican restaurant at this location. I had a taco dinner and really enjoyed it. It was actually too much food for lunch and I had to take some home. The red table salsa didn't appeal to me, but, the green stuff is very good. They don't have their full menu up and running yet, but, the partial menu they are serving from temporarily has a wide variety to try. Great patio set-up.

MY REVIEW: We were there for the soft opening Thursday night. The restaurant is beautiful! Two huge patios with live entertainment and flat screens everywhere. The dining room was not too shaby either. It atmoshpere was electric with a posh, but not stuffy setting. This place is something Katy has been in need of for a long time coming. The food, drinks, and service were all excellent considering this was a practice run. As a restaurant owner myself, you can tell that alot of time and thought went into planning this concept. We had an appetizer sampling of the Southwestern Eggrolls, Quesadillas, and fried jalapenos as well as an amazing Shrimp Cocktail. All amazing! For dinner I had the Carne Asada which was delicious and huge! My wife had the Tacos Al Carbon and the couple with us had fajitas, and a fried golden stuffed avacado with crabmeat. Yum! We will definitely be back! Our waiter Kevin was Awesome!

MY REVIEW: I was one of the lucky few to enjoy a pre-grand opening sampling of Vida Loca's cuisine. OUTSTANDING salsas. FABULOUS fajitas. Only the freshest ingredients. Great attention to detail. The staff is courteous and professional. I've found my new favorite mexican food restaurant in Katy. Oh, and the atmosphere... FANTASTICO! (I can't wait to sit on either of the beautiful patios and watch my favorite sports on the (many) big screens outside!)
