The Grape Taste Wine Bistro

MY REVIEW: We had a party of 9 and the meals were not all served together . Two of us were charged for iced tea we did not order or receive. We were charged $2.00 for a small basket of cut up bread and we were charged $1.00 for crackers with our salads. An upscale restaurant does not charge for crackers . $80 for a dinner for two is fine but to pennyannie for $1for crackers will lose them 9 customers eating there in the future than they gained in charging for crackers. The dirty martini I had was one of the best but not worth all the "add-ons" to our bill. We will not go there again !

MY REVIEW: I had to chuckle a little after reading "The Petty Observer" report. Its a WINE bistro - of course the place doesn't serve sodas! They serve wine! And plenty of it! They do, however, serve sparkling water, club soda, and tonic. Its a place for adults - sodas and straws attract noisey children. This is a great place to get away from the hussle and bussle of the normal restaurant. At the Grape Taste, us adults can really relax and enjoy each other's company, without screaming children banging their forks on the tables. Its nice to finally have a place for adults in Lake Jackson. We've needed one for so long!
I have to agree that the place can get a little loud, although on a good day, there is patio seating and you can't beat the live music on the weekends. And, as harped upon below, why would you want to order something from the lunch menu for dinner? There are so many great things on the dinner menu! Its the norm for restaurants to not serve the lunch menu at dinner, hence, the reason there is a "Lunch" menu and a separate "Dinner" menu. My husband and I dine at the bistro once a week and the servers and Deb always make us feel like family. Its nice to know that the only thing people have to complain about it lacking are straws...

MY REVIEW: They do not serve soda -- only tea, water, or wine. This is a downside for those of us who like a little fizzy carbonated beverage with good cheese. They also have no straws. Seems petty, I know, but a lot of people like straws for sanitary reasons or for sensitive teeth (because of icy drinks). A final downside: the place can get very loud -- for good conservation try to time your visit to avoid busiest hours. Reminder: the lunch menu is not the dinner menu; they will refuse to make you something that you had yummy for lunch if you go later in the evening. Flat out refuse.

MY REVIEW: The best bisto in Lake Jackson hands down. As for wine, why go to Houston, the selection changes on a weekly basis and the best value wines available. The food is superb, i will continue to support The Grape Taste.

MY REVIEW: What a great place! My wife and I stopped in for a glass of wine and a tapa and ended up with two flights two tapas a cheese platter and dessert! Great food, great wine and Holly was very helpful with new wines. We would reccomend this place for anything from a quick snack to a meeting place for friends. Lake Jackson is lucky to have this place, try it!

MY REVIEW: My visits have been at least 1-2 a month mostly for lunch and several times for dinner. Amazing food and ambiance. The decor is just beautiful. So glad to have a wine bistro in our local area. Never have been able to eat fried oyster until I had their Oyster Nachos. Fantastic! Have eaten most everything on the lunch and dinner menu and cannot say enough about the food and service. The owner, Deborah and staff are always courteous and attentive.

MY REVIEW: I love this place - it feels like you are visiting with friends in your own living room, but they have waaaaay more good appetizers and snacks than i keep at home! - Wine selection is huge and varied, and changes constantly, so you never run out of new wines to try -
The tapas and lunch and dinnner selections also change periodically, so there is always something new to sample - and I have never been disappointed - the chef is amazing for such a small bistro! FYI - the owner, Deborah - ROCKS!!
See you there!

MY REVIEW: 3 friends and I went for their monthly wine & cheese tasting (last Monday of the month-cash only and call and reserve a spot!) It was so much fun! We are all novice wine drinkers but we got the chance to taste 90% of the wines (we only made it through about half) and we had cheese from around the world. The atmosphere is so nice and for $20/per person, it was a great experience!! (We stayed from 4-6 but it goes until 8PM) It was the perfect girls' night and we learned so much from Deborah. The staff was a little slowing bringing our tapas and check to the table, but we weren't in a rush and the experience was great. We'll definitely do this again!

MY REVIEW: My daughter (46) and I (71) met there for lunch. We had the pecan roasted chicken salad. It was superb! The decor and ambiance is first class and the wait staff is helpful and friendly. The creme brulei was delicious. We had the smallest amount of wine and it was good.
I, too hope everyone will support this fine addition to Lake Jackson. Whenever I take a friend out to lunch it will be at The Grape Taste!

MY REVIEW: I've been visiting this Bistro every month since it opened (March 2008). It keeps getting better and better. The food is always great, but the wine and wine flights and cheese pairings are outstanding. And, the wine list changes often, which brings a pleasant surprise to each visit.

MY REVIEW: The owner must have poured some bucks into the decor because this is a place you could sit for hours, sipping on wine and tasting cheese. It's great we finally have a place that offers tastes of different wines, and not just two or three 'house' wines. Last time I was there there were 40 wines to choose from! They also have 'flights', or groups of three individual tastes of like wines for a one glass price. The waitstaff I found to be very friendly, attentive, helpful and actually knowledgeable about the products! How refreshing.
There are a couple of cheese plates to choose from or build your own, seasonal fresh fruit and even a charcuterie plate. For soups the chef makes a roasted poblano and sweet corn soup that he garnishes with a most wonderful smoked gouda and crispy tortilla strips, and it is out of this world. I'll agree with the other reviewer, Emily, that the roasted chicken, smoked provolone, applewood bacon, and fried green tomato sandwich with goat cheese mayo is out of this world. Once they had a beef tenderloin on ciabatta sandwich with that goat cheese mayo, and I thought it was superb. Hopefully other residents will come out and help us support The Grape Taste to make sure they hang around for a while! ;-)

MY REVIEW: This new wine bistro just opened a few weeks ago, and I was just thrilled to see something of this caliber in our little town. The restaurant serves wine by the taste, glass or bottle, and also a variety of tapas style dishes. We tried the fried oyster nachos, the mini buffolo burgers, and the mini crab cakes and were not disappointed. All dishes were nicely balanced and very tasty. The Tai pulled pork sandwich was spicy and juicy, and the fried green tomato, bacon and chicken sandwich was out of this world. Our only criticism was that the rasberry sauce on the snapper was a bit too strong for such a delicate fish. Other than that, we were pleased with the experience and will definitely return to support The Grape Taste!
