MY REVIEW: Brisket is good just a little tough, Sausage is supposed to be home made but it dosn't taste like it kinda bland. Sauce is great. Sides were good especially potato salad. Baked beans were out of a can. Baked potato with chopped beef is good. Ribs are supposed to be their specialty i'll have to try them next time. Still needs an A.C. Not bad now but in August it gets a little hot. All in all pretty decent. Food is definitly better than the previous place. allthough still not as good as central texas but who is.

MY REVIEW: Well, I have to say, we have really been excited about this new place opening. We eat alot of BBQ in our family. We travel to Luling and Lockhart often and while we don't expect that quality down here, we want it to be edible. We also eat quite frequently at the big BBQ place on Hwy. 6 in Alvin. We have been needing a good BBQ place down our way. In Manvel, I mean. This, unfortunately, is not it. I ordered brisket because I think that is a true test of good BBQ. It was underdone and still very fatty and difficult to chew. My husband had the special, baby back ribs. The ribs were so underdone they required a knife to cut them and all you had available to cut them with was a butter knife. Ribs, in my opinion, should fall off the bone that way nothing is needed except your fingers to eat them. These were tough to tear with my teeth. My husband is the kind of person that will eat something even if he doesn't like it so as not to hurt anyone's feelings but the ribs were left on the table as was my brisket.

I liked the BBQ sauce. Potato salad is one of my faves and I love it with the potato skins. Their potato salad looks homemade, not store bought and I was happy to see that but it was served warm. I'm sure it was supposed to be cold as it was obviously mayo based. I couldn't eat it. Something else happened that I am not allowed to report here per review guidelines but I will be reporting it. Nothing was done by anyone working in the restaurant to remedy the situation either. It was treated as though it never happened. I did not make a big deal of it though, so who knows how differently they would have handled it if I had. The staff, (their kids?), was very nice. Beer is available for a cash donation as they do not have a liquor license yet and at least it was cold. I love the building, always have, and they have done a great job with the decor and ambiance but without decent food to back it up, that doesn't really matter now does it?

I would like to say it's just being new and all, but I think if you can't cook BBQ, you can't cook BBQ, no matter how much time you have.

MY REVIEW: What a friendly, family atmosphere and the food is great too! Just opened and running smoothly. Would be a perfect place for after our many, many softball games. Looks like Sekula's BBQ will be a regular hang out for our entire family!
