MY REVIEW: Visted the Alabama location today for a late lunch. The strong point was the garden center/photo shoot setting. Like being in a catalogue very simple yet classy. That said the experience was ruined by the attitude of the place. I ordered the steak avocado salad which was good. However my lunchmate ordered the salmon salad. After 2 bites of the salmon she said it was way too salty. When this was bought to the attention of the server/busperson she was simply told they had no more salmon. At those prices(which are not posted) I would have thought they could have offered an alternative. No apologies, NADA. She only ate lettuce for lunch. Our total bill was close to $40 for lunch. We thought about getting some of the cookies, but after that we just left. I think the place is a victim of its own popularity and overated because of it.

MY REVIEW: Strong points- location, architecture

Weak points- Food quality is very poor- no prices on blackboard menu is a snooty practice. My sandwich had horrible tasting bread- an "off" taste to the chicken- my dining companion had the steak sandwich and she had to spit half of it out in her napkin because of gristle. French fries came out cold. The sandwiches seemed pre-made and stale tasting.

After 2 visits, I do not plan to go back.

MY REVIEW: Very pretty and stylish setting but loud, expensive with a limited menu and good but not exceptional food.

Spectacular setting but it was LOUD when we dined there and the food was good but not exceptional given the prices.

I was hoping Tiny's in WU was going to be more family oriented but there's no way we'll bring the kids here.

MY REVIEW: This place is very over priced and over-hyped. The food was adequate but not all that. My main complaint is with the staff. I know River Oaks is upscale and all but please, these get their you-know-whats in a wad, if you even move one chair away from its assigned seating place. The manage had the gaul to tell us that the tables and chairs can't be moved on the patio because..wait for it..its a health code violation...excuse me while I try to stop laughing and catch my breaht. Any way, I won't be visiting this place again.

MY REVIEW: This is the kind of place to go during the spring time. Excellent atmosphere both inside and outside. I was a bit concerned about the long line to order, as it was 6 of us from work during our lunch hour. The menu is small, but has very healthy choices, and even vegetarian options for our friend. The food didn't take long to reach our table, and it was a decent portion size for the type of patrons who frequent the place at that time (well off women of the area.) The food was elegantly presented, a little more than what I wanted to pay, but very delicious. Overall, a great little place. In my opinion, it is more designed for people of leisure, not an everyday place for the typical working Houstonian. It was a nice place to go to on a Friday to escape the hustle of 9 to 5.

MY REVIEW: Save your Money Tiny box Wood’s Café

STEAK & EGG Pizza $14. THINLY SLICED BEEF TENDERLOIN,BLUE CHEESE, GARLIC-INFUSED OLIVE OIL, WITH EGG SUNNY SIDE UP I got ONE Egg with the saltiest blue cheese on this earth I never tasted the garlic in the olive oil and 3 Oz of Steak if I was lucky on a Crisp pizza curst

MUFFIN DU JOUR $3.FRESH-BAKED, SERVED WARM WITH WHIPPED HONEY BUTTER I had the Berry Lemon it was cold but it was the only thing I like about the meal

COFFEE $2. Coffee you have to service your self and get your own refill but after sitting in the painful chairs you need to get up and move around

Price to high for what I got D*enny will bring me table ware and refills of Coffee and water and my butt would not be sore from the sitting for a lot less. Tiny box Wood’s Café is a place to be seen at only!

MY REVIEW: I love Tiny Boxwoods and have been going there since they opened but yesterday I met a friend for lunch, late, so that we could actually get a table! It was a cold day and we both felt like having some french onion soup. I ordered a bowl and my friend ordered a cup. The cup was only half full and the quantity of soup in the bowl barely covered the bottom of the dish plus the soup was incredibly salty - we sent them back. There was a scruffy piece of bread with melted cheese put on top (not the sort of french onion soup that I am used to). The bowl was badly chipped so I sent it back, only to get another bowl that was, likewise, chipped. This is not up to Tiny Boxwoods usual high standards and I did let the chef know! We then tried the white bean soup/stew and it was delicious but, again, the quantity barely covered the bottom of the bowl. More food/larger portions, Tiny Boxwoods, more food! Everything is delicious but they are not running a tapas bar where one just has a "taste" of something delicious and it is quite expensive. I will go back because I love it but they need to toss all the cracked dishes and start over (and hold the salt)!!!

MY REVIEW: Don't try to eat lunch here after 3 PM. They only serve wine and cheese then. How did I find this out? It was written on a tiny little blackboard in the parking lot. And to be fair- it is also on their website; but I didn't look before I left home.

I may try again - but only if I'm in the neighborhood - not making a trip across town like I did today.

MY REVIEW: I love Tiny Boxwood. I have eaten many dishes there and always find myself craving more. The food is fresh and feels wonderful in your stomach. The staff is friendly, the space is clean and well-lit, and the nursery next to it is gorgeous. They have good coffee and it is a nice place to sit and have a conbersation. The only bad things I have to say about it are that the visitors are kind of snooty and the food is a tad expensive but very worth it. I drive all the way into town just for this restaurant and I would recommend it to anyone.

MY REVIEW: First of all, I had the bleu cheese burger and it was good. That is the ONLY good thing I have to say about Tiny Boxwoods. The patrons around us were all pretentious snobs (not that the owners can do anything about that) but the group in front of us was just intolerable and rude and ran over me to get their drinks out of the cooler – with nary a word of apology. My order was wrong and when I told the waiter what it was supposed to be, he got it wrong as well. I had to call him back and a second time to get it right. Then - and this was the last straw - one of the busboys came to our table, pulled out an empty chair and placed the dirty dish bin IN THE CHAIR and proceeded to bring all the dirty dishes from the other tables back to our table and stack them in the dirty bin. AT OUR TABLE!! WHILE WE WERE EATING!! The people behind the counter were friendly and courteous and as I said, the burger was good, but not good enough to make me want to go back. I do NOT recommend this place and based on the other reviews here, you won’t find too many people who will either.

MY REVIEW: Very particular kinda place. Don't go in thinking to much of yourselves at lunch. Dinner is where it's at. Great atmosphere, wine and food.

MY REVIEW: There are so many wonderful things one can say about the ambience of Tiny Boxwoods. One's senses are delighted at every turn of a walk or a wall. There are so many fun details to delight the senses; it is a shame that the food doesn't come close to measuring up to the brand promise so carefully orchestrated by the designers. The food is expensive, the selections are very limited, and the inside seating is not conducive for conversation. On a recent Friday night, 3 of 4 bowls of asparagus soup and 2 of 3 seafood entrees our table ordered were returned to the kitchen. In all cases the food was so salty that it was not edible. Both fish specials were overcooked to the point of being tough, and the salad was so underdressed it tasted as though it was coming straight from the garden. Fortunately we had ordered appetizers and pizza, which were very good, so those of us who sent food back didn't starve completely. But, the evening was a complete disaster. Everyone left in an ill temper having been denied both good food and good company. I may go back for lunch from time to time because it's so beautiful, but I won't go there for dinner again. The owners need to seriously consider their choice of chef.

MY REVIEW: What an amazing place. I know no other place where you can have a garden, GREAT service and food to die for! I have tasted almost everything on the menu and loved them all. I have found the staff to be some of the most accomadating in the area. This is not something I usually do...went on the website to see the new pictures and was truly shocked by what I read. There is a one to two hour wait every night.....they must be doing something right!

MY REVIEW: Quality interesting food and convenient location make this a frequent choice for me BUT it is something of a head scratcher why prices are not listed on the menu. Also, the portions do seem a little modest. Those are my only issues with Tiny's but they seem to be repeated pretty frequently with other reviewers.

MY REVIEW: I will admit Tiny's is inconsistent, but you know how the saying goes, 'when it was good, it was very, very good.' And even when it is bad it is not really horrid.

If you are looking for a big portion for a small price, forget it. But if you are looking for a delightful atmosphere, especially on a nice day, with food that is sometimes brilliant, you should give it several tries before you write it off.
