MY REVIEW: We visited Sage for the first time early on a Saturday night just before Labor Day. The atmosphere was as described by others, quaint and cozy. Sage is located in a small house with a nice outside patio with huge ferns. There is a small (full service) bar. Our waiter doubled as our bartender even though there was one on duty. Maybe it was because I gave him specific instructions on how to make my orange martini.

Alex (the waiter) spoke broken but understandable english, explained the off menu items as we sipped our martini which he made to perfection. The wine menu was very limited as another reviewer had observed. We opted to not have any wine. Alex offered that if we wanted a particular wine he would suggest it to the owner who would make sure it was available next time. A nice offer but one that I did not push.

I ordered the Mediterranean Mussels and my partner order the soup of the day (cream of carrot with ginger). Both were excellent. I eat mussels often and was duly impressed. For entrées I had the lemon chicken, a simple dish but one that can tell how the other food on the menu might fare. My partner ordered the sashimi tuna appetizer as her entree. It had an unusual mirin type glaze that was unique and delicious. And before I forget the bread was bread solo and dipped in the mussel broth.

We topped off the evening with the Heart of Chocolate dessert which we found was quite enjoyable.

Everything we had was great and priced reasonably. One of the things we saw on the menu was a few pasta items that seemed to priced rather high, $22 +. I did not see these dishes but I was curious, I would expect pasta prices like that at De M*arco's on Westheimer.

Overall, food and service were great. We will return.

MY REVIEW: We went to celebrate two birthdays, and were excited to check out this relatively new place in the neighborhood. None of us had ever been, and we were all hoping for a great dining experience. We had early reservations (6pm) and it was only us for quite some time. At first the wait staff was very overattentive (we were asked about 5 times if we were ready to order), and then once people arrived for later reservations, there was no wait staff to be found! The entrees we ordered were: lemon chicken, butternut squash and goat cheese ravioli, and sweet pea risotto. I had the risotto - it was unbelievable, with artichokes, fresh spinach, asparagus, and of course, sweet peas. Outstanding. Everyone else enjoyed their dishes as well.

Dessert was pretty disappointing. I am not a fan of the molten chocolate cake heart thing - the cake was too dry, and the sauce was unremarkable. It took over 15 minutes to bring out coffee after the dessert was brought out.

It's a mixed bag, but it's worth a try. The service needs some major improvement, but the entree flavors are right on!

MY REVIEW: This was a surprisingly good restaurant. Our table faced the outside patio. It was quite and very comfortable. The hostess was very friendly. Our waiter, unfortunately, struggled with English. The other waiter working the room would have been better to communicate with. However, our guy tried hard!

Bread was freshly made and very tasty. My cesear salad was great. The dressing and freshly made croutons (from their bread) made this salad one of the best I have had. I did think the portion was a little small.

I had the salmon. It was served over the vegetables. It had great flavor. The menu states "seared", I ordered it cooked through and it came out just how I like it. My girlfriend had the lemon chicken served with veggies and home made mashed potatoes. This was another very tasty dish.

The restaurant is perfect for a quiet meal. It was not very crowded which made it quiet. We will surely go back.

MY REVIEW: We have dined here several times now and it is a wonderful restaurant. The ambiance is delightful and the staff is very attentive. We have dined on the open lasagna, a unique and delicious seafood/pasta dish, the salmon entre and lamb chops and have to give them all high marks. We had the special at our last visit of Risoto with wild mushrooms and fois de gras; it was outstanding. The deserts are very memorable as well; makes me want to dive into the Chocolate Hearts at this very moment. We will be returning.

MY REVIEW: Great restaurant. Had the lamb chops which were great, everyone else at the table was impressed with their food as well. (rotisserie chicken, ravioli) Wait staff is very new and inexperienced, but made up for it with politeness and a great attitude. Hopefully this place catches on, great food and atmosphere for the price. Will definitely be going back.

MY REVIEW: Had noticed the sign before it even opened and was intrigued. Very glad we went. Beautiful space - romantic seating inside and out. Staff is very nice. Food was well done - flavors appropriately full and subtle in the dishes we had (salad du jour, salmon in miso glaze, seafood lasagna). The wine list was not large but had all the bases covered and most of the selections were also available by the glass. The chocolate heart dessert takes a little while to prepare and we couldn't wait, but enjoyed the creme brulee and Victoria's icecream with fresh berries & Grand Marnier in its place. If you are traveling on W Alabama from Kirby toward Greenbriar, it is just before Greenbriar on your right and you will turn into the driveway before the building. There does appear to be sufficient parking.
