Ali Baba Restaurant (CLOSED)

12403 Veterans Memorial Dr Houston TX

MY REVIEW: Food is good for price. They cook all the BBQ right in front of the customer, typical fast food style but is not fast food restaurant. I wouldn't say it's fully fine dine. You have to place the order on the counter and food is brought to the table. I have tried almost everything on the bbq menu. Their chicken tikka masala (chicken breast pieces cooked with onion and tomatoes curry). That's my favorite. Average dish price is about $6-$7.

If you are in nortwest houston and searching for a nice indian/pakistani/middle eastern restaurant, Ali Baba is a very good choice. I said middle eastern because they have couple of middle eastern dishes. Hmmmm I am getting hungry now. I might will vist them this weekend and eat my favorite chicken tikka masala.

MY REVIEW: They display their to be grilled meats ala butcher counter next to the cash register. So what is displayed is what is available. Most often they usually run out of "shish kabab" (ground beef lenghtened out around a skewer) by the end of the night, its good but I usually get the boti chicken kabab (boneless marinated chicken breast on skewer), all their meats are grilled upon ordering. I used to get their dishes, like kadai chicken (chicken that is cooked with tomatoes, peppers and onions) which is good but very greasy. I would come home and pour out most of the oil. The naan use to be really good, don't get me wrong it is still good but I think it is lacking some salt or something b/c it used to be tastier.

I have not tried their chapli kabab (ground beef patties with spices, jalapenos, onions).

Their other chicken grill meat, looks almost like tandoori chicken is good but I think they charge too much for it so I go for boti chicken.
