Profile Description: ‘Feast’ is about bringing a traditional and relaxed European approach to dining to Downtown Houston. It offers simple, rustic cuisine in a relaxed, homely environment. The emphasis is on quality, local, seasonal ingredients prepared with passion and imagination. It is informal, lively and different, serving great food and wine at prices reasonable enough for a neighborhood ‘local’ as well as a destination for a night out. Now offering a 3 course lunch special for $22.

MY REVIEW: The food was wonderful. The experience was wonderful. I can't say enough good things about how much we enjoyed eating here. We started off with the chicken hearts on toast (a weird choice, but that's how we do things). They were wonderful. Then, we moved onto the golden tomato salad with roasted beets - also stellar. Our entrees were confit rabbit leg and the duck with lentils (can't remember exactly the name). All of it was outstanding. The lentils may have been the best I've ever had. Overall, the price tag was very reasonable, and the wine selection was well-priced. We all need to patronize this restaurant because it is extremely ambitious for the Houston scene. I intend to go back weekly.

MY REVIEW: ok went there on a Friday night. Made reservations but no problem getting in if you don't. Had the Suckling Pig Soup with Plum and Sage Dumplings for starter. It was very good and the 4 little dumplings they put in there are spot on.

Main course. Pork Belly, Cheeks, Leeks and Bacon with Red Beans and Braised Rabbit with Port and Mushrooms, Black Pudding Gratin Potatoes, and Red Cabbage. Shared of course. Now I am a big fan of pork belly but this wasn't the best way to use it for me. I do get how its a play on traditional pork and beans and does that right. I just would have liked to see something else I guess. It tasted good and would be excellent in a bar but we wanted a bit more.

Now the rabbit was excellent. I loved the black pudding gratin and the port and rabbit yumm. I did get pretty much the 3rd cut of rabbit. It was a little of the saddle along with the entire backbone minus a few from the tail. I was really hoping for a hind leg but oh well. It was tasty and I used the bread to soak up every bit of the port sauce.

The wine list is a hit or miss. They have a huge markup on some wines and not so much on others. Take for instance the Castell Del Remei, from Spain. The have a price of 36.00 when you can buy it for 12.00.

We ordered the Chateau Maucoil, Chateauneuf Du Pape for 44.00 however you can buy this one for 39.00 a smaller markup overall.

Our one complaint would have been with the service. It was very European if thats what they were going for. You have your water and wine poured once then you do the refills yourself. Perhaps the waitstaff was just a little green but it could use some improvement. Other than that we had a pleasant time and would like to see it have time to grow. I thinnk Houston needs something like this. A little more timid than L*aidback manor. But I will be back to try the sweetbreads and desert if nothing else.

MY REVIEW: Just had a dinner there and did the Wednesday night tasting dinner. Overall the experience was pretty awesome. I think we went through eight dishes and most were great and a couple were just good not great. I very much enjoyed the Juniper Braised Shoulder of Goat with Spaghetti Squash and the Gazpacho. The waitstaff was pretty good, the timing of the dishes worked out well with just the right amount of time to talk between courses. I have a huge appettite and left very satiated. It really is a great deal for 40 bucks. It did get a little loud as a loud talker at the next table decided to have a few glasses of wine and become a loud screamer.

I am absolutely coming back and trying some of the more adventerous dishes.

MY REVIEW: I went there for dinner last night after a meeting, and it was excellent. My wife and I shared the Pork Terrine for app, with the green apples in saffron/cumin sauce, excellent. Main courses were amazing, wife had the mushroom and scallop pie and buttered leeks that was amazing, and I had the equally great bacon wrapped sweetbreads that were HUGE and so tender, with roasted root veg, was more than enuogh food, we barely had enough time to try the homemade honey cinammon icecream that was so good. All that with taxes for $56, you can't beat that at ALL!! My new FAVORITE place! Will be back numerous times!

MY REVIEW: Attentive staff. The food (wonderful food, glorious food!) was fantastic! I only regret not having a big enough stomach. My friend and I had the pork cheeks and breast of wild boar. The pork cheeks had a slight crunchy exterior and the meat/fat just melted in your mouth, oh so tender. A metaphor that came to mind to describe this dish: bacon's richer, more robust older brother. The breast of wild boar was also very delicious, also wickedly tender. I will definitely go back when I'm in town.

MY REVIEW: First time here, visiting with a group from meetup.com. There were 16 of us in our party. I had the pan fried flounder w/veggies which was very tasty. A friend had the Chicken Tangine and I tried a sampling of that it has a WONDERFUL tangy spicy flavor--my pick for next time!

MY REVIEW: This place is great. On my first visit, I had the Tasting menu (available on Wednesdays for $40 a person). I received 8 different dishes, 3 appetizers, 3 entrees and 2 desserts. The portions were said to be smaller than their normal sizes, but they were extremely generous. The pork cheek was truly amazing. The carrot ginger soup was also a standout. Everything I tried was delicious. The decor is homelike and vaguely european. The staff is friendly and attentive. Feast is by far one of the best restaurants I have ever been to.

MY REVIEW: By far the best place I have eaten at in Houston! I have been here many times and loved it everytime. They have a revolving menu (that is posted online everyday) so there is always something new and interesting to try. On my last visit I tried the whole salt baked bass - which was awesome. Other people at my table had the braised lambs neck with lentils, Pork belly with perogies, cassoulet, and confit duck leg with with potato gratin. I tried a bite of everyones and they were all excellent. In addition to the great food there is a wonderful wine list that is very reasonably priced and the service is always wonderful. I highly recommend everyone go and try FEAST.

MY REVIEW: Not for those faint of heart, or clogged arteries, they are doing old style Old World food that can leave you wondering what all this fuss about healthy eating was meant to do other than rob us of pleasure.

Their menu changes daily so it is wise to check first to see if your favorites are being served. The cold duck breast appetizer was outstanding, as was the lamb bone soup that came with so many bones that I asked for a nut cracker to get to the marrow. The tongue and testicles yielded fairly tasty tongue but mushy undercooked mountain oysters, probably the one weakness on the plates that night.

The cassoulet of rabbit and sausage was outstanding, with the delightfully crisp crust soaking up much of the fat. The Spanish fish stew saffron sauce was pungent and delicious, the monkfish and mussels done perfectly, and the shrimp (although whole) barely cooked; the way I prefer them.

Also at the table were pork cheeks and I had to resist stealing the whole plate despite having already loosened my belt a notch or two. Across from me was the lamb osso bucco, also one of the best I have tasted since living in Europe.

Superb service throughout despite being upstairs and outside in the gorgeous spring weather. Even on a Friday evening, it was not crowded, but they had a soft opening and the food may be on the challenging side for many of those who think OG is a good Italian restaurant :-)

I will be back and with friends, despite the obligatory valet parking.

MY REVIEW: I really like this place. If you like well prepared pub food, you will like this place. Interesting menu items and some fairly familiar British favorites. My husband started with the Ham and Parsley Terrine. It was a large portion (plenty for two to share). He like it so much he took the leftovers home for a sandwich the next day. I had the Romaine lettuce salad with Chorizo vinagrette with little crunchy meat bits that was wonderfully satifying. For the mains, my husband had a meat pie (pretty traditional but very good) and I had Chicken and Pork stew with sage dumplings and orange mashed potatoes. I know that sounds a bit odd.....but it definitely worked well together. There are limited wines by the glass but they are well priced and they pour generous glasses.

Service was good and friendly. There is no parking so you must use the valet (or try to dodge the traffic while crossing Westheimer). No charge but tipping is recommended. I could not believe the attendant saw us getting up from the table and had our car waiting before we got out the front door. That is service and I didn't mind the tipping.

We will definitely be back.

MY REVIEW: I just held my 37th birthday party there last weekend and everyone in my party of 20 people had a great time. The management was very accomodating, especially since they had only just opened 2 nights before, and allowed us to have the private room downstairs. The restaurant itself is a charming 3 story house, circa 1920's that has the feel of an English cottage inside.

I had the scallops with whiskey butter served on the half shell as an appetizer. The scallops were small but delicious. For the entree, I had the braised oxtails with garlic mashed potatoes. It was so tender and tasty, not too salty like some I've had elsewhere. My French friend enjoyed her pork and rabbit stew with rice, as did my boyfriend. Another friend really liked his dish, the pan fried beef tongue. The menu certainly is original, and apparently changes daily per the waitress.

The waitstaff were all very helpful and hardworking, considering 20 of us milled in over the course of 30 minutes. Because we had such a large party, I knew the entrees would come in spurts, but everyone was served within about 5 minutes of each other. All my guests complimented me on my choice of this restaurant, and I am very pleased with how the evening turned out. Thanks to all at Feast!
