Miss Ginny's Bake Shoppe

MY REVIEW: Finding a good cupcake in the Clear Lake area is challenging, but Miss Ginny didn't let me down. She was very sweet to me and patiently waited as I searched among the many choices of cupcakes, brownies, and cookies (most at $2.50/ea). I bought the hummingbird cupcake (banana, pineapple, and coconut), carrot cupcake, and blueberry scone. All 3 were delicious! I'm going back to try more of the other flavors! Her location is perfect for me, but I think I still prefer The N*aked Cupcake in Bacliffe. Still, Miss Ginny has so many varieties that keep you coming back for more.

MY REVIEW: Miss Ginny's has the best cookies in the greater Houston area. The only possible competition is the shortbread at P*aulie's or the gingerbread at T*hree Brothers - and those are very style specific. I prefer to bake very special cookies at home generally to buying them out but the snickerdoodle at Miss Ginny's gets my highest rating "life-changingly good" and is something I simply cannot hope to replicate at home. They are so popular - so sometimes you can't pop in and get 1-2 dozen on demand without special ordering them ahead of time. The only positive to this is that it has led me to try several other cookies and I have never been disappointed. The Italian creme cake cookie and turtle cookie also get high marks, and if you are adventurous try and of the citrus dreams (orange dream / lemon dream / lime dream) they are very unique and really do trick the mind a little bit.

Staying away is the challenge, as I live withing walking distance.

MY REVIEW: This is a very good bakery. Especially for the baking challenged. Most of her desserts are VERY well made. Her items change so I have to be vague and say that I typically buy her cupcakes. They are about twice the size of the ones you buy at the fancy places for about half the price. They are all good.

My favorites are chocolate chip and chocolate dream (it's supposed to be a copy of the hostess chocolate cupcakes with cream filling).

The earlier you go the softer and fresher they are. I like to store them in air tight containers once I get home or they will get harder as the air hits them. So long as they are in an air tight container they will remain as fresh as the day you bought them.

I don't think you will have any regrets trying this place other than knowing it exists and now you'll have to try and stay away.
