MY REVIEW: Patio is great on a nice sunny day. Food, however, is awful. We came for lunch yesterday -- I had the pizza special which consisted of a large slice (actually two slices together) of pizza, a salad, garlic bread and a drink. I chose the veggie pizza and it was completely lackluster on a thick, bready, bland crust. The salad was a few pieces of iceberg lettuce and a slice of tomato. The garlic bread was a dinner roll with a small amount of garlicky margarine (not butter) inside. The Pepsi was nearly flat. All that for nearly $9. My friend had the spinach and garlic pizza and it seemed to be a little better than mine.

I came here a few years ago and had their spaghetti and found it quite serviceable. Because they have a great patio I might be tempted to try this place again, but I'll have pasta next time.

MY REVIEW: I just happened along this place last Friday while cutting across town. What caught my eye was the "Pizza By The Slice" neon sign in the window. I figured, why not and I'd been craving pizza anyway. Now, I am quite the stickler when it comes to pizza and I can tell you assuredly, that theirs is really tops! ~ pardon the pun.

Bambolino's is not anything to write home about per se, at least as far as the interior decorum goes, but if you want to have a sure hit with friends and family on pizza night out, then this is definitely the place to go! It looks like it'll seat 50-60 people inside and probably 20 on the front patio. Everything inside is painted green and red and the wood benches/booths give it a real pizza parlor atmosphere, that I for one thought was great.

I ordered a "jumbo" slice of cheese and a "jumbo" slice of "veggie." The ingredients were fresh, very tasty and, piled high on the veggie. The jumbo slices are actually halved so one might say that it's four regular slices and not two jumbo slices at all, but whatever you call it, it's good! The cheese was cooked to 100% perfection, with small golden brown dots spreading out over each piece and just the right amount of sauce. And, the sauce was neither too salty, nor too sweet - it really was just right. As for the veggie, wow! It was as if I had made it myself except much better! The best part about the pizza though, I must say was the crust - not too thin, not too thick. I mean, it was awesome - not a cracker - not a glob of dough - it was perfecto!

The only other observations I made was that 1) the lasagna is made with beef and not a beef/pork mixture, which for me (I DON'T EAT PIG MEAT) is way cool, since it's the first place I've found in Houston that doesn't use pork in the lasagna and, 2) clean restroom - always a plus.

I can't wait to go back with the family - Aaaaah... I'll be a hero for a day.
