Profile Description: BB's is a late night dining concept located at the corner of Montrose and Westheimer that focuses on New Orlean style Po-Boys. BB's serves authentic Cajun food with alot of the recipes coming from Maw Maw; who resides in Morgan City LA. Also available on the menu is Gumbo, delicious Cajun entrees and a unique breakfast menu. BB's offers 10 different po-boys, 5 entrees, great appetizers and a very creative breakfast menu that features "Beignets and Chicken wings". We are open every day for lunch.
MY REVIEW: BB's is great! My wife and I moved from New Orleans after hurricane Katrina and have not found good "New Orleans" style since we have been here. Don't believe the hype on the over priced P*apa's "cajun" thing, BB's is for real.
I have to agree with the other posters on b4-u-eat that this place has the best poboys I have ever eaten.
BB's is HIGHLY recommended.

I thought I was in comfort food heaven!! then I looked around, realized i really was at BB's and hey, I WAS in comfort food heaven!!

MY REVIEW: My Fiancée and I have been coming to BB’s since the doors opened up. We have seen changes in the restaurant frontage, menu’s and specials, but not once in all the times we have come to BB’s has there ever been a change in the quality of the food. You simply can’t go wrong with what comes out of the kitchen at BB’s. Its almost overwhelming at times because you are torn between the classic Cajun foods and the Cajun foods with the BB’s unique twist on them. Whether it’s the Pollo Bullets, the Morning Glory or the Pearly Whites, the food exceeds expectations every single time we go.
What sold the both of us on BB’s was our first time going, we asked how one of the dishes was, and our Waiter/Owner answered us very bluntly, “Usually its our best dish in the house, but the cut of beef we received this week from our supplier is a bit tough. I would recommend trying it the next time you come back.” When he said that, I kinda of smirked and said to myself, “If we come back the next time.” I write this review today letting everyone know that we stop by 3-4 times a month for dinner at BB’s. Its simply the best.
Ohh, if you have the room left over after dinner, I am just going to say Bread Pudding.....

MY REVIEW: i just keep coming back!!! everything I've tried has been great and continues to be. can't say enough about the waitstaff, I am usually there when howard, allyson, or (my favorite) Super Sandy is working and they are all very personable without sacrificing professionalism. It's nice to deal with servers who have distinct personalities and styles. B.B. is often there when I stop by and he always makes it a point to say, Hi.
On a recent visit I was craving red beans and rice and ordered a double bowl with cheddar cheese sprinkled on top (the cheese is my own weird deal). It worked out to be a meal fit for a king and easy on the wallet as well. I think I see a franchise in the making here. It kind of reminds me of when I waited tables for the P*appas family when they had two restaurants and the D*ot coffee shops. you just knew that if they didn't compromise along the way that it was gonna grow!!!!
B.B.'S rocks, and being a guy who makes his living playing music in a bar, the late night hours make it even more appealing. in fact some days I go there for lunch from my day job and then stop by at 2:00 AM after my gig!!

MY REVIEW: Finally decided to try BB's for breakfast during the Memorial Day weekend and returned with friends for dinner yesterday evening. Yes, it IS that good. Once you've tried it for yourself it will be no surprise why all of the reviews here rave about the place.
The waitress we had has been superb each time we've visited, very friendly, knowledgeable of the menu, extremely polite, attentive, and pleasant. She should be a role-model for wait-staff everywhere as she truly seems to enjoy her work and the people with whom she deals.
If the expert staff isn't enough to keep you coming back the food definitely will be. Granted, in two visits we haven't been able to try everything but we can say that everything we have tried has been excellent. If you can't find something you like on the menu than you are just too picky. An added plus is that you can get breakfast all day and they also have small-plates that are not so small at all. The prices are amazing and not at all what you'd expect for food this great.
If you had any doubts about trying this place out, cast them aside and get there as soon as possible.

MY REVIEW: Finally got around to trying BB's after hearing great things and was truly blown away. My husband had the roast beef po-boy and gumbo and said both were probably the best he's ever had (he's a gumbo fiend). The beef on the po-boy was unbelievably flavorful and tender. I had fried oyster po-boy with the veggie bisque. Both were fantastic and the soup is my new favorite. Friendly service - we sat outside as it was a nice day. Can't wait to go back and try the grillades. BB's will definitely be a regular spot for us.

MY REVIEW: I read reviews here and in the local paper and thought I’d stop by for lunch. Maybe the best oyster poboy I’ve ever had (and I love shrimp and oyster poboys). The first poboy I’ve had in a long time where you can actually TASTE the oysters – the texture (REALLY crispy) and flavor comes through. Perfect bread, dressing, condiments – just great.
And the service was good too. The waitress was polite (it’s nice to have front-line employees use ‘Mam’ – I do that with my clients – it’s simple courtesy). And she was efficient too. Nice room for what it is too – strip center.

MY REVIEW: I loved it's southern touch, it has a classy and at the same time a laid back atmosphere. Oh yeah the food was great, I ordered the cat fish and almost ordered a second plate. The staff was also great, they freely interacted with the customers and made sure that everthing was perfect. If i didn't have to work all the time (at odd hours) i would probably eat there all the time.

MY REVIEW: been back three times since first visit, taken several friends and co-workers and they unanimously approve. i have tried the grillades, gumbo, veggie bisque, roast beef po-boy, shrimpalada, and etouffe. everything has been excellent and the veggie bisque was way better than I would ever have expected!
there are so many intriguing combinations of flavours and new twists on tried and true favourites I have yet to sample on their menu. I look forward to many visits sampling the full array of menu items. this is a real winner!! my prediction is more than one location in the future and possibly franchising. i can only hope !!

MY REVIEW: went here for lunch after dining at a much more $$$$y and well known cajun style seafood house nearby the evening before so the bar was a little higher than normal and BB's soared. great gumbo and catfish po'boy. prices are no giveaway, but quite reasonable. service was fine and location very convenient to my museum district job. I'll be bach!!!

MY REVIEW: The food is very good. The poorboy roast beef sandwich had my girlfriend wondering if it was brisket - it was to die for. Very very tasty and I thought the bread was perfect. I had the steak with dark rouge and a center scoop of cheese grits. The steak was very tender and the rouge was quite similar to the chicken and sausage gumbo we split as an appetizer. The food spicing and tenderness is spot on and easily satisfied my desire for a taste of Louisiana. The dining experience was simple and not expensive.
Although I cannot wait to go back, my only slight complaint so far has been with the varying temperature of food that comes to the table. As friendly and reasonable priced as this place is- we'll be back... Heck, I want to order the sandwich right now.

MY REVIEW: BB's is located in the same place as A*lfredo's German place used to be, next to the Valero station at Montrose and Westheimer.
As a native New Orleanian who still commutes to New Orleans, I'd give this place a big thumbs up and recommend it to any New Orleanian who craves a good roast beef poor boy. The quibbles I have below are really minor, and not meant to detract from the overall positive experience we had.
This was our first visit. We got the roast beef poor boy and oyster poor boy and split them. I also couldn't resist trying the chicken/andouille gumbo.
The gumbo had a good, authentic taste. The "cup" is actually what I would consider a full serving and might be enough for a light lunch. The roux was maybe slightly too dark, but it was still good.
The taste of the roast beef poor boy wood be competitive in New Orleans. The bread on our sandwiches was the only weak point. It was good, but not great. As the proprietor discussed with us, his big problem is french bread supply. We visited on a wet afternoon which also can make French Bread softer instead of crisp. Most Houstonians probably won't notice, as, with rare exception, bakeries around here are pretty mediocre, if that good. The sandwich as a whole was very good and I recommend it highly.
The oyster poor boy was good, but not in the same league as the roast beef. Deep frying is hard to do well, but it still wasn't bad if you crave a sandwich.
They have Barq's root beer, though it's in a can and not a bottle, but it shows the owner is acquainted with New Orleans.
Fries accompanying the sandwiches were a bit limp. but I generally don't eat them anyway.
Prices were reasonable: $9 for the oyster and $8 for the roast beef. Gumbo was $5 for a nice sized plate full.
Menu says they stay open very late most nights, which is a definite plus.
Service was very good and prompt. We will definitely be back.

MY REVIEW: Wow! That was the best po'boy I've had since leaving NOLA 12 years ago! A generous amount of shrimp so fresh I could taste the Gulf on delicious bread. My husband had the grillades & grits, and is mad that I hadn't exposed him to this dish before now (he's not from the South). The place is small and urban chic - BB will need to find a bigger location in the near future - we were there about 9pm on a Sunday and nearly every seat was filled. The wait staff is knowledgable and so friendly you'd think you were back "in da Parish". Can't wait to return and work our way down the menu because it ALL looks, sounds and smells fantastic!
Thank you, thank you, thank you......

MY REVIEW: The place is small, the atmosphere bare, but the food is delicious. Ordered the vegetarian bisque. Very yummy and has a very good kick to it. Served with bunch of perfect done garlic bread. Almost a meal in itself. Also had the blackened shrimp salad with the cajun vinigarette. Also done perfectly. Can't wait to go back and try the shrimpaladas. They are on my list.

MY REVIEW: What everybody else said! For several weeks a friend has been suggesting we all go to BB's on our Saturday night out. He had been there and tried the roast beef po' boy, which he told us was really good. So tonight we tried it out and everybody walked out smiling. I had Maw Maw's grillades, my first time for grillades but for sure not my last as BB's version is a very good dish. There really are some imaginitive items on the menu along with the familiar things like po' boys and gumbo. The place itself is pretty low-key urban, service was good and the owner visited with us for a little while, which was fun.

MY REVIEW: Shrimp etouffee was wonderful! Just a little "kick" with a great taste. Our table shared all the appetizers and shared bites of everything....all was EXCELLENT!

MY REVIEW: The food at BB's is amazing! The shrimpaladas, shrimp po-boy and gumbo are to die for. I can't wait to go back and try the roast beef po-boy after reading all the other wonderful reviews!
I used BB's to cater a large event and the food was excellent too as was the presentation. First class all the way. If you need catering, Brooks is the guy to call!

MY REVIEW: The food was very good, flavorful and in good portions. I had the shrimpalada and the bisque. Most importantly, it is open til 4AM on the weekends. It is such a breath of fresh air to be able to get some good food at that hour. La T*apatia and H*ouse of Pies were killing me! All and all, the food was delicious, the ambiance works, and the service was kind. I will definitely return.

MY REVIEW: first visit and I love the fact they are open late. I had shrimpalada and my friend had beef (midnight poor boy?) and we had chicken brochette. I highly suggest the poor boys. The shrimp enchilada was quite tasty and the red beans & rice was flavorful. The poorboy was very very good! Spot on good place to get a bite to eat after an evening out. Next I'll have to try the breakfast.

MY REVIEW: The best and most authentic N.O. style po boy I have seen outside of the Big Easy. The owner had a conversation with my friend and I and was more than courteous. We had appetizers, entrees, sides, and beers and nothing was short of a complete TEN! BB's has it right and I hope they stay around for the long run. They are open till 4 AM on weekends and I can't wait to hit it up for late night food. Great job, truly is the Better Bite!!

MY REVIEW: Great cajun food in modest surroundings. It's about time someone's giving K*tz a run for their money. Po' boys (sandwiches) are generously portioned. Can't wait to try the expanded menu they're rolling out this week!

MY REVIEW: Wow! This place is phenomenal. The service and food were very excellent.
I had the Catfish Po-Boy and it was better than any I have tried at P*appadeux's or R*ajun Cajun and much cheaper. My husband had the Morning Glory, eggs and sausage and cheese sauce and is still raving about it. The fries were crisp and plentiful.
We will definitely be back. Great food, excellent prices, and service.
