Salad Express

MY REVIEW: We still find this one of the best all around values in the Clear Lake area. There is fresh spinach at the salad bar along with almost every fresh vegetable you can think of including Jicama. Yes, there are some dangerous items like pudding but that's OK. Everything is always fresh.

MY REVIEW: This is a pretty complete salad bar in addition to baked potatoes, taco fixins', soups and sandwiches. The salad bar is kept well stocked with fresh veggies and pasta salads, rice salad and couscous. There's also cornbread, gingerbread and fruit. I ate lunch here today and can recommend it as it has something for everyone in the family.

MY REVIEW: There are three ways to eat here: you can graze at the salad bar, make yourself a taco or plate of pasta, or order a sandwich. In order: The salad bar is dreadful, consisting of only the most mundane ingredients. You get your choice of iceberg or romaine lettuce. Yawn. Want cheese on your salad? Hope you like pre-shredded bland cheese (no, there's no feta). The taco bar is so bad that I became nostalgic for the food at my high school cafeteria. Inedible. I didn't try the sandwiches but J*ason's Deli is within walking distance so why bother?

MY REVIEW: Wow, I just heard this place has been around for over 20 years and I know why. They really have the best salad bar around and make their soups fresh everyday. Kind of earthy staff but they're all super nice. They're always busy at lunch so go early or late.
