MY REVIEW: Food was great.Restaurant was filthy, crowded and hot. The floor was so sticky you could feel the bottom of your shoes stick to it. While the teeny bopper hostess will not offer it, ask to sit on the patio if you can. It was much more quite on a Saturday night and the fans and misters with cool water created a nice breeze. The concept of this place was great but the execution was a bit off. The service was TERRIBLE. Our waiter disappeared for 30 minutes and was not the brightest cookie in the jar. This place is so popular and crowded that it is too small to accomodate their customers. Invest some money in expanding, training your waitstaff and keeping the place clean and you will have a winning combination. We would probably not drive back to the Woodlands to go again.

MY REVIEW: Many good choices. Gives directions on which ingredients to add to make specific dishes. I had teriyaki chicken and my husband had some seafood combo. Both were very good. It was a little confusing at first but we figured it out. Everything looked fresh and good. You have the option of tasting the sauces first. The indoor seating was crowded so they sat us outdoors which was okay.
For our dishes and all of them, it was 9.99 at night and 6.99 for the same thing at lunch. For an unlimited bowl it was 12.99 which would be a very good deal for a big eater. Wish there was a Genghis Grill near our side of town. Our waiter was Al and he was a sharp, young man.

MY REVIEW: I have been eating at H*ans Mongolian BBQ in clear Lake for over a decade. It was nice to see a new Mongolian BBQ place open in north Houston so I gave Genghis Grill a try.
Not being new to the concept, I had no real "this is cool" factor going in like many people may experience. I must say that at first I was a bit disappointed as Genghis Grill takes a different approach to Mongolian BBQ than I was accustomed to, but I quickly found out this is not necessarily a bad thing. First, Genghis Grill uses larger chunks of meat which is not frozen hard, unlike H*ans' Mongolian BBQ which uses very thinly sliced meat which comes out in round chips and is usually frozen solid.
Ghengis Grill has a few more vegetables to choose from and they also add a seasoning station where you can add various types of salts and spices to your meat.
Aside from how the meat was prepared, the next big difference was in the sauces. H*ans Mongolian BBQ has a fewer number of sauces, and they are all very thin and liquid like, more like broths. Ghengis Grill has a larger selection of sauces and they are all very thick and syrupy. They have sampling spoons so you can taste the sauces before deciding. I tasted all of them and they seem to all be made with a similar sugar base, completly different than the H*an's sauces. I tried four bowls on my visit and made two bowls which I didn't care for that much, where at H*ans', with the limited number of sauces, it is nearly impossible to mix and match them to make a bad bowl.
The next big difference for me was that Ghengis Grill offers a selection of starch which the chef will add to your bowl when he is done cooking, where H*ans offers noodles that you can add yourself to the bowl, or you can add brown or white rice after your bowl is finished. The noodles Ghengis Grill offers are much thicker and do not soak in the flavor of the sauces like at H*ans'.
I also noticed that Ghengis Grill will throw your meal on the grill and let it sit, only stirring it occasionally. This causes the meat to char in spots, giving the meat a more traditional Texas BBQ flavor to it. At H*an's the chefs constantly rotate around the grill moving your food with them in circles and cooking it the entire time nice and evenly. Because the meat is sliced thinner and the food is constantly moving to a warm spot on the grill, it makes for a much shorter cook time. At H*ans' you wait and watch your food being made then it is handed to you right off the Grill. At Ghengis Grill you get a number and go sit down, your bowl is delivered in about 5 minutes.
At Ghengis Grill, probably because of the thick sauces, and the fact they don't stir the food as much, the sauces don't really sink into the noodles or rice, or meat for that matter, they just cover it. This causes it to be more like traditional American BBQ sauce would cover the meat, not really absorb into it. At H*an's, the thinly sliced meat and noodles soak in the flavor of the much thinner sauces.
In the end I came to the realization that these are two entirely different products. If H*an's Mongolian BBQ and Ghengis Grill were next to each other I would still likely choose H*ans'. It's hard to compare the two since they really are different product in the end. The service at both restaurants is OUTSTANDING, I give kudos to the Ghengis Grill franchise for stressing customer service. I recommend everyone try both restaurants, H*ans' being the 'Mom and Pop" hole in the wall where Ghengis Grill being the big franchise machine.

MY REVIEW: Every time I go to Dallas my friends take me to one of these (I mostly demand it), and finally someone has opened one in the Houston area. We visited this weekend and chatted up with the owner, and it's rumored he plans to open up five more locations in the Houston metro area.
The food is fantastic. Simple concept. They give you a bowl, you select your meats/proteins, your seasoning, your veggies, your sauce, and finally your starch. Create your own or follow the recipe guide they have posted. Give it to the grill masters, they grill it on a huge donut shaped grill, and bring it to you freshly prepared.
I couldn't possibly list all the different selections they have to choose from. There is a huge selection of meats, veggies, tofu, seafood, etc.
My favourite? The steak and chicken with citrus garlic seasoning, throw in some pineapple, carrots, green beans and baby corn, with honey soy sauce, with brown rice. Yummy.

MY REVIEW: My co-worker and I ate here and we both loved it. It can be a little confusing at first but your server will show you the ropes. Seeing the raw food is a little strange at first but at least you know it's fresh! We can't wait to go back. It's a little pricey for lunch - $13.00 with a coke.

MY REVIEW: We ate a Genghis all the time when we lived in Dallas so we were very excited when it opened here. This is a good concept restaurant with good food. However the service at this location is terrible! I wish they had a self serve drink station because getting a refill is next to impossible (or even getting a drink in the first place), same goes for getting a new bowl. We have eaten there 3 times since it opened and had the same experience each time. Hopefully the staff can work out the kinks!

MY REVIEW: I went to lunch with co-workers. The positives: the food was fresh and tasted great! The negatives: the floor was sticky, the service was slow, they had tables that were really close together and narrow aisles. Some of the sauces were a little too sweet. It can be a little confusing to a first-timer, especially if it is busy and you are trying to read the board and decide what seasoning and sauces you want to use. I will go back because the food was great.

MY REVIEW: Our family loves this restaurant. Each of us gets to pick our favorite meats - my husband & son love the beef & I pick all the seafoods (shrimp, squid & fish). You can add as little or as much veggies as you want. They have sauce recipes you can follow if you're not sure of how you want your food to taste or you can be adventurous & make up your own. Tiny spoons are provided so you can taste your sauce as you mix it up. There are several choices for the starch & I'm glad they offer brown rice. There's even udon noodles, pasta & tortillas.

MY REVIEW: I love the concept of Mongolian BBQ and wish there was a restaurant located near me that offered it. I've been to Genghis Grill in Colorado so I knew what to expect when I decided to make a special trip out to the Woodlands to enjoy this restaurant. Basically you are given a bowl, and you go through a line and fill your bowl with any meats and vegetables they offer (meats include shrimp, chicken, steak, calamari, etc.). You also pick your seasonings and sauces. Finally, you pick your starch (rice, noodles, etc.). They then take your bowl and stirfry your food on a big flat wok. I really enjoy it because I get to pick all the ingredients that go into my meal. The only drawback is that if you don't pick wisely, you may end up with a dish that isn't as tasty as you'd hoped. I put in WAY too much chili powder and hot sauce, but that was my fault. The good thing is for $2 more, you get unlimited bowls. So you can turn this into an all-you-can-eat affair for very little additional cost. Or, in my case, you can salvage your mistakes. I hope they open a location inside Houston!

MY REVIEW: Excellent place to eat...with or without kids. The food was fantastic and the wait staff was great. They really aren't waiters...as you go through a line and select your meat/seafood, then veggies, then sauces and had all that to one of the friendly chefs who cook it on an open hot iron platform. Very fresh food...
