Chang's Chinese Restaurant #2
5761 San Felipe St, Houston, Texas 77057
MY REVIEW: This is some of the worst Chinese food I've ever had. My lunch started out OK with the hot and sour soup (OK, but nothing out of the ordinary). But it went downhill after that. My General Tso's Chicken was mushy instead of crispy, with a generically simple, sweet sauce. The bland eggroll was just as mushy. The "fried rice" was a gloppy, wet, excessively starchy ball of brown rice that even after repeated prodding with a fork, never lost its shape!
As other revewers have noted, this place does have the ambience of a more expensive restaurant... but for food of this poor quality, even these prices are high. The couple who own the place did warmly greet me, but I'm sorry, I don't think I will return.

MY REVIEW: Chang's had the ambiance of a much more expensive restaraunt. My FAVORITE Chinese place is P*.F. Chang's, so you can get a basis for comparison. I had the mongolian beef, which, IMHO is easy to mess up (low quality chewy beef makes for a less than palatible meal) but this beef was juicy and tender, and unlike some of the other places where I have had this dish, salty rather than sweet. They bring you a complimentary orange half as a dessert, but if you like bananas and have no allergies, do NOT leave without trying their Bananas Tempura.
Its a Banana (but it wasnt sweet to me-I wondered if it was truly a plantain) fried in tempura batter with honey drizzled over it, and coconut shavings sprinkled on top with a scoop of delicious "chinese" ice cream (the standard soft serve in most buffets) also drizzled with honey. They have a dinner "combo" menue so for less than $12 you can get a main dish, with a side of white/fried rice, a cup of soup and a crab puff/egg roll/spring roll. For the price, they were a great substitue for P*.F.Changs. The staff was polite and attentive (there were 6 of us but it was a Tuesday evening).
I give this place 4 1/2 stars.

MY REVIEW: i love this place. its the best chinese restaurant around the galleria area. this is my go to place when i am hungry. the staff is great. Everyone waited on me as if i was family. I even remember their names: Bryan, Michelle, Tony. The manager Nancy is a very hard worker and she keeps the restaurant together. good job nancy.
i literally Ordered HALF the menu because the food is delicious. i do not care what anyone else says about this restaurant. to me, it is heaven on earth. ASIAN HEAVEN :D

MY REVIEW: I love this place!
They have an incredible lunch menu - probably 20 items to choose from. Their eggrolls are flaky, the sweet and sour sauce perfectly sweet and I love love love their won ton soup.
I go here a lot for lunch. The price is very reasonable as well. A +++

MY REVIEW:
I am a vegetarian. I have found their seasame tofu to be consistent and best in town (just ask for thick gravy) and taste is the right mix of spice and sweetness.

MY REVIEW: The service is consistently friendly and attentive. They seem to have worked out the kinks from when they initially opened, and for the price and the quality we have been happy with what we receive. I used to visit when it was previously Cafe T*in T*in, and the food is at least as good, if not better.
With most Chinese restaurants, it depends on what you order, and this one is no exception. I have been pretty happy with everything I have ordered (from the curry chicken to the garlic beef), and the Moo Shee Beef is my new favorite.
In reference to the comment about the "service for a large party" being hard to judge - it is clear you do not understand the restaurant business. If your service was decent with a large party, that says good things about the restaurant. It is much harder to provide good/great service to a large party.....easy to say they did a good job.
Chang's I think is underrated for what is available in the area. Good food, reasonably priced, with pleasant service - not easy to find all three of those in one restaurant in the Galleria people and I live and work in this area!!

MY REVIEW: The restaurant itself is nice and fairly cozy. We had a hard time figuring out who our server actually was. Gave the app order to one, and another came to take our order. The manager/owner? took care of us too, but IMO was doing way too much. Her staff should have been doing it. The restaurant wasn't that busy at the time. I would rate the serve a 2.5 out of 5.
The food. My husband ordered the General Tsao's plate. I had beef and vegetables. While the meat/veggies were fine, the sauce lacked. It tasted bottled and was just there. The spring rolls we ordered were smaller than average and only had shrimp in there, not two meats that we are accustomed to. they were okay. the sauce was good but a tad on the salty side and not quite a true peanut, but that's okay.
overall, we are not going back. There are too many chinese restaurants in this city to try and if we have to go to the counter to request a to-go box and our check when it's not even busy....

MY REVIEW: I grew up going to Eastern Chines Restaurant in Oak Forest. Chang's is supposed to be owned by the same owner and I was sooo excited to have them in the Galleria area. I have tried many of my favorites from the original Eastern and Chang's has disappointed me every time. The hot and sour soup was one of my favorites and Chang's version is no where the same as Eastern. I wish I could give a better review as I went back several times to give them another chance but it is not very good.

MY REVIEW: I believe this place used to be called "Cafe T*in T*in" before, and the food was not very good the one time I went. Well I went to this new named place located in the same location, I was told it was under new management as well, but I can't confirm that for sure.
I went with some coworkers and the food was quite good. I had the honey chicken, egg roll, and egg drop soup combo. The honey chicken and egg roll was superb, the egg drop soup was decent, but not the best I've had. Service was acceptable, but we had a large party so it's hard to really be positive about that.
The decor has been upgraded a little, however it wasn't that bad before. The biggest turn off from before was the food, and it seems much better now. I'll be returning as it's the nearest decent Chinese restaurant near my office.
