Andalucia Buffet & Cafe (CLOSED)

 13117 Westheimer Rd Houston TX

MY REVIEW: Basically, it's a good place to try out. It's a buffet, so there is something that everyone will like and there will be some things you might not care for as much. There is something for everyone, it's a place for all. In my opinion, it's good, especially their pasteries, and desserts. The price was appropriate. The interior is relaxing and very clean.

MY REVIEW: I was not very impressed by this restaurant. I haven't been to any other Mediterranean buffets, so not sure how this one compares. But I found the food to be fairly bland - chicken and fish dishes were dry, hummus and baba ganoush were not flavorful. The highlights were the salads, rice, and lamb shank. The price is very good however - $9.95 per person. I guess the low price does reflect in the quality of food.

MY REVIEW: Strong Point: Not expensive; Desserts on display at register were beautiful. Drinks come with meal.

Weak Points: Food is rather flat on flavor. Tried a bit of almost all the dishes and while none of them were bad on the reverside side none of them jumped up and made me want to go back. We can do just as well at home. Service was not good. It was like none of them knew what they were supposed to be doing....but in all fairness, they'd only been open a day or two when I came in; maybe they just needed to settle in.

MY REVIEW: Just stopped in. The food is mediterranean/ middle eastern--not spanish as the name would imply. The food was good. I liked the lamb shanks. It is a buffet so service really wasn't an issue. Price was reasonable--Think its around $10 with drink. The only problem I can see is the buffet is limited. I'm not sure if they change the menu around or not but I didnt see a huge selection in the buffet. Also, the few items trying to cater to kids (like the macaroni and cheese) look terrible. The mac and cheese, for example, looks like it came out of a blue box.

All in all it was good enough and I will probably go back

MY REVIEW: The first thing I noticed when I entered was the wonderful aroma followed by how much nicer the intererior is than the exterior. Once I sampled a few of the numerous dishes, I knew my decision to try this new buffet was a good one.

The two buffet lines included lamb, chicken, beef, and fish dishes but what I really enjoyed were the vegetables. The cauliflower with a cream and cheese topping was excellent. The potato salad was some of the best I've found anywhere. I just wish a lot of the BBQ restaurants would switch to it. Excuse me for not knowing the names but the olive salad was also included on my second plate. There was just so much to try that I'll definitely be back. I've already recommended Andalucia's to a couple of my friends.

My only regret was I did did not get several of their short-bread cookies that are shaped like donuts. On my way out I only took one to go and after eating it, I almost made a u-turn on Westheimer to go back for more. Several of thheir other pastries displayed at the front door were also very appealing.

I will definitely return and do recommend it. At less than $10, it is well worth it.
