MY REVIEW: I went to TriniShak yesterday and I have to say that I am pleasantly suprised. This is what Caribbean food is. There are not many around the 1960 area but this one is authentic. The roti is incredible and very large. Just the way I remember eating it as a kid. The rice and peas are good, and so is the macaroni pie. The stewed chicken is excellent as well. I also had the ginger beer and let me tell you, its was just like my Dad makes. The only disappointment that I could mention is with the patty. It seems that all of the Caribbean resturaunts I have gone to serve theses store bought jamaican patties instead of making thier own. I wish I could get some authentic patty in houston without having to make my own. Other than that I will tell everyone about TriniShak and will be sure to go back for more roti and ginger beer. 4 out of 5 stars. Highly recommended.

MY REVIEW: Though the portions are small the food has good flavor. Almost takes me home. On the point of home, I think the staff, though friendly, could be a little more upbeat, and really market the whole Trini experience. Trinis are a infectiously lively people...

But the food is good.

MY REVIEW: Awesome home cooked -style Carribean food. Great made from scratch tropical punches. Give it a try for the curry flavors.

MY REVIEW: Not being familiar with Trinidadian and Caribbean food I did not know what to expect. The Stew Chicken was suggested and it was fantastic. You can tell it was cooked for a long time because it had very deep and complex flavorings. I enjoyed every bite. I also had a drink that tasted like a semi sweet milkshake almost like a soy bean drink. It was very good. Friend had the Oxtail which is basically braised beef. Let me tell you that was some good stuff. It was fattier and tenderer than the chicken but every bit as good. My other friend had the Roti which is basically a large burrito. I didn’t get a bite but the wrap looked just like my grandma’s tortillas which are of course delicious. So next time I will have to get one of those. I will certainly be back and I hope this place makes it because Houston needs some good flavors like this around. If you are tired of all the chain restaurants and high prices but simple tasteless food, you should really do yourself a favor and at least try this place. I know it will be a common place for us in the future.

MY REVIEW: The wife and I visited Trini Shak and was delighted with the foods. I was reminded of a genuine trini cafe with the sweetbread and mauby and roti. They even make up p'nut punch and drinks at the time you order. I never thought I'll be buying macaroni pie at a restaurant, so I am greatful for the insight of Trini Shak in bringing good trini table food to the public. We will be back.

MY REVIEW: Portion was small for price but food was excellent! Menu not very diverse, but hot sauce was off da chain!
