MY REVIEW: BROWN RICE SUSHI!!! I was so excited to find a place that will make sushi with brown rice. The person who commented on the restaurant having a fast food feel to it was right, I think it's mainly due to the fact that when you walk into the restaurant the first thing you notice is the register where you can place take out orders and the huge menu that takes up practically an entire wall across from the register. Once inside, it's not so bad.
I went on a Sunday afternoon and it was very quiet. No one was at the sushi bar and only a few people were at tables. The service was good. I ordered green tea which they brew from loose tea which was nice. Then two sushi handrolls with BROWN RICE!!! and a seaweed salad. All were good and I felt the prices were reasonable. There are a lot of vegetarian choices on the menu as well as sushi and stir-fry. The "create your own stir-fry" is a lot like Mongolian BBQ and not really my thing, but I saw at least one person order it. At lunchtime there are two menus, one with specials, so check both before you order.
While I wouldn't say Akimi is special enough to go too far out of your way, it's worth a stop if you're in the general neighborhood.

MY REVIEW: Drove 60 miles, round trip from Houston, Texas to Nassau Bay, Texas. Every centimeter of this long journey was worth the superb dining experience. Strong points: Excellent food; outstanding - beyond reasonable prices; friendly staff; interested owner; the best Sushi and Stir-Fry available! Tammy and another gentleman were our servers. Both are very attentive and just really neat people. It is really nice when people care about service and detail. The owner came over to check up on us and is also a very nice person. Quiet, fun, and relaxed atmosphere. The best restaurant in Texas.

MY REVIEW: My family, friends and co-workers eat here several times a week. The staff and owners are very nice and willing to make each visit special. I have had most things on their menu. I have been pleased with everything. They are one of the few places in the Clearlake area who know how to cook chicken breast where it is taste and not like dried leather.
Although I agree with the fact that they are a little pricey; for the quality of food it is still a good value. As far as not having a large variety of sushi to choose from (as was mentioned several times before on this site), I would suggest that if you like certain types that are not on the menu, ask the staff. I have had them custom make sushi for me on several occasions.

MY REVIEW: Friendly staff. They remembered us the 2nd time we ate there. We have tried many different entrees and have enjoyed each one. Sushi is good, even when you order-to-go. Never a long wait for food. And good atmosphere w/ more than just sports playing on 1 of the 2 big screens. My husband and I can't get enough of this place.

MY REVIEW: Really liked the stir fry. It's nice to have a *good* Mongolian style create your own stir fry in Clear Lake. I especially like the fact that they had noodles on the stir fry bar. Alas, I didn't see any pineapple or peanuts to add to the stir fry. Girlfriend had the General Tso's chicken, she loved it. And the portions are big, a good deal specially if you get the lunch special.
Service was good. We visited on a Sunday for lunch, so just a few people there.
Can't comment on the sushi. Would recommend, and will be going back soon.

MY REVIEW: I love this place. I do not much care for stir-fry, so I cannot comment there, but the sushi is great! The prices are competitive. I do wish you got a little more for your money, but I am so happy with the quality & freshness I can’t complain. I am compelled to add - This is the cleanest sushi restaurant in Clear Lake. I used to eat M*asa twice a week ... needless to say ... I will never eat there again.
The wait staff is a bit weak, but I see improvements. My order is always prompt. I like that. If you have not tried it, I would highly recommend this restaurant along with the fried ice cream!

MY REVIEW: I agree with the other reviews. The Sushi menu is limited and the portions are very small. They are going to need to step up their game in ALL areas...service, quality, quantity and price if they want to compete with the other Sushi venues in the area (M*asa and I*chibon...both of which offer exceptional service, quality and VALUE). I may go back if I see some better reviews on this site just to see if they have made any improvements. However, until such time, M*asa is getting my dollar.

MY REVIEW: This place feels more like a fast food place, with slightly better decor. I definitely didn't care for the rock muzak playing on the radio (along with the annoying ads for car dealerships and furniture stores). The hispanic waiter barely spoke (or understood) english. As for the food, sushi seems like more of an afterthought to their stir-fry offerings. The sushi menu is small. They didn't have miso soup on the menu, although I asked for it and was able to order some. The spicy tuna roll and the tuna sushi tasted good; I wouldn't recommend the yellowtail. The nigiri sushi pieces barely had any rice. The roll pieces were also small, but conveniently bite-sized. In all I felt the place was just "ok", although the prices are nearly as high as any other sushi place in Clear Lake. Doubt I'll be returning to this one.

MY REVIEW: Waiter was new to his job, poor thing but he survived. Sushi pieces are small but good quality. They need to improve on choices for sushi. Not a squid in the house. Will go back to see how they improve with time.
