MY REVIEW: I'm surprised at some of the reviews here. My wife and I first ate at Kenzo about 6 mos. ago, and we were blown away by the quality of the food. We've had sushi at many places in the Houston area and beyond and I have no hesitation in saying that Kenzo is my favorite. The service is attentive and respectful, so no issues there. The ingredients are fresh and aromatic, and the rolls particularly are an inventive blend of tastes and textures. Our most recent visit was last Friday, and the food was awesome. Try the Scorpion roll, or--our favorite--the Spartan Seven Lakes roll. So good!

MY REVIEW: The food used to be really good but now the quality and service is lacking and that is such a shame because i used to love this place. The manager and staff are not nice and they are always out of something! the sushi was fishier than usual so our family will not be returning.

MY REVIEW: Lovely food, terrible service.

Restaurant was half empty, with at least 3 waiters on duty. It took forever to take orders, get drinks, wait between each course. We ordered simple drinks; iced tea & coke. When drinks needed refilling, they were taken away for 3-4 minutes at a time, so we were left thirsty! Soy source was not on the table, by the time it arrived, I had two pieces of sushi left. Ordering drinks & food took 10 minutes. Waiting for appetisers took 20. Main dishes came before we'd even finished the appetisers. Check took 10 minutes to be taken. Very slow!!!

Quality of food was wonderful though. I might go back, because of this reason.

MY REVIEW: Good food nice staff. The rice is done perfectly, not to heavy or sticky.Really really great sushi rice! The little Japanese lady, not sure if she was the owner or what but she was so cute! She saw that I was drinking saki so she had the bartender make 2 saki bombs and did one with me! What a way to make you feel special right! We will go back for sure!

MY REVIEW: The past 2 times my husband and I have eaten here they are out of things!

This last time they were out of the red wine I ordered and out of the hand rolls we ordered. It was early on a Friday night in Katy, you'd think they'd be stocked up for the weekends!

The service was terrible, we officially give up and won't be returning here again! We actually went next door to P*erry's for dessert and coffee and had a lovely time!

MY REVIEW: Best sushi in Katy! The South of the Border and Spartan rolls are my favorites. The Miso soup and house salad are delicious. The Beef rolls are a great appetizer. The decor and atmosphere are excellent, the in town feeling without the drive. I've never had bad service there, the owner/manager has been there a lot lately and always stops by to make sure we have everything we need, she even refills our drinks herself! Great place, highly recommend it!

MY REVIEW: 1. Service is great. Erica, Linda, Kay, Felicia, Sako are warm and personable, knowledgeable, friendly and are ALWAYS attentive. The wife & I have NEVER been disappointed with the service.

2. The beef sashimi is superb.

3. The Belize breeze and South of the Border are great.

4. The wife and I go as often as we can and EVERYTHING we have ordered has been exceptional.

5. Try the chocolate mint & strawberry mochi!

6. Ambiance is what it should be.

7. Belize Breeze Wednesdays serve 1/2 price Belize Breeze rolls & usually one other half-price roll. Can not beat that for great price & superb quality.

8. Kenzos ranks right up there with K*ubos in Rice Village and Z*ushi Sushi in downtown San Antonio - both of which are Star Rated.

9. Sake selection is varied and all are superb.

10. Kenzos is the ONLY place for fresh sushi in Katy!

MY REVIEW: Wow, what a great restaurant! My husband and I are new to Katy and wanted to find a nice place to eat. I got on the web, read some reviews and decided to visit Kenzo. We were greeted at the door by two beautiful ladies and taken to our table. I kind of looked around and wondered why it was so empty for a Saturday night but figured we would give it a try anyways. We must have gotten the same waitress that the previous reviews had gotten because she was the only pretty blonde working.

The menu was very elaborate, and a little intimidating, but it was great that our waitress told us about all the rolls and recommended her favorites. We started with sake. We had never had cold before so I asked for something sweet and my husband wanted something dry so she brought one for each of us, which were perfect! We then ordered the appetizer that she recommended along with some sushi and rolls, we loved it all!

To make a long story short, our meal was out of this world, the service was extraordinary, and the owner even stopped by at the end to see how everything was. I have to agree with the reviews below, the pretty blonde girl is on the top of the list of the best waitresses we have ever had! We will be RETURNING very soon!!

MY REVIEW: we've been to kenzo twice now and both times, the food was excellent! they have JUST revised their menu and the prices are incredibly reasonable. it was interesting to read other reviewers' complaints about the service. we have had good experiences both times with pleasant wait staff. but ultimately, i go to a restaurant for the food and kenzo has better quality food than most japanese restaurants i've been to AND at a good price. i can't comment on the sushi as we haven't gotten it, but the appetizer, entrees and dessert we've gotten were all delicious. decor/ambiance is great for dates!

MY REVIEW: After my first experience at Kenzos I was so excited to be able to dine there again! I asked for my same waitress because she was so wonderful the time before. The sushi was so fresh and even though the "special" sounded fabulous we decided to stick with sushi.

There wasn't a sushi special when we were there but my waitress (who we adore) went out of her way to recommend a roll that is off the menu that is her favorite. Out of all the rolls we ordered that was our favorite too. The atmosphere is romantic and although the sushi cost a little more than other Katy sushi restaurants it is well worth it!

We had excellent service and great food.... what more can you ask for. It's nice to finally have a restaurant in Katy that feels like a downtown restaurant. I wish I could remember the name of our waitress so you can ask for her but all I remember is that she is pretty and blond (maybe Erin).By far, this is the best sushi restaurant in Katy!

MY REVIEW: This was my first visit to Kenzo and I loved everything! My husband and I finally had a babysitter on a Friday night and we wanted to try something new. Our friends recommended that we try Kenzo and I'm so happy that we did.

My waitress was probably one of the best I’ve ever had. Not only did she explain all of the rolls to me but she also took the time to actually tell me how the martinis were made. I was shocked that she knew all of the ingredients and made a great recommendation that I really enjoyed. My husband is a little more sushi savvy so he didn't need as much guidance as I did but our waitress still recommended some other types of fish that he hadn’t heard of. He found some new things that he will defiantly order again.

We both loved our meals, and above all had great service! We will be back!

MY REVIEW: I really wanted this to be a great birthday/anniversary dinner. I asked the waitress if they did sashimi platters and she said no. After I ordered 4 pieces of sushi an entre and a salad 8 people sitting next to us got a huge sashimi platter!

My husbands ribs where full of bone a gristle with a GIANT mound of bland oily rice.

My sushi was warm. I asked got yellowtail I got Mackerel. They where out of Uni and fatty Tuna so maybe they where just running out of everything.

We will not be going back there. There is a much better place in Katy that I know of. Great 40th b-day dinner and i guess perfect for a 13th anniversary.

MY REVIEW: Kenzo is a great place to enjoy a lovel dinner and just relax. Nothing beats the ambiance. My wife and I used to go to B*akers Pub right next door, but We eventually got fed up with the crowd and all the smoke. Someone reccomended Kenzo to me and we havent been back to B*akers since. Haven't gotten a chance to sit in the dining room but the service at the bar has always been fantastic. Diane and Michelle, the bartendars are always very friendly and take great care of us(not to mention there very easy on the eyes). Will be back soon!

MY REVIEW: The only reason I would ever add a review to this site is if I have been really impressed or really disappointed.

Let me start with: I really like Kenzo. I like that its something a bit different than Katy is used to, its got a good vibe, the food is yummy, and its friendly and kinda cool.

BUT - the service is frustrating. Even when ordered as an appetizer, the edamame shows up with your meal. There where people at our table still enjoying the main course, while the waiter was asking about dessert. The service was inattentive (they asked us to taste the wine, but poured it before we had a chance to try it), and adequate at best.

I do have to say though, I will be back. But not because of the service. Only because there is a lot to be desired in Katy...

MY REVIEW: With all fairness to the review before me,

First, I understand that bad service always get you nerve, and after that everything else always gone down hill.

Second, I don't eat seafood, only red meat. I love steak, but my wife loves sushi. We usually drive to beltway 8 from here (katy) to eat steak at P*erry's.

But when my wife wants sushi, we always go to Kenzo, then I order the steak, mostly the filet. Their steak it's a great piece of meat, and always cook to perfection, the petite vegetables it's a matter of personal preference.

They have alot of ala carte sides choices if your veggies it's not enough.

Sorry, I feel like have to defend one of my favorite place to eat. BUT, I do agree that sometimes the service need a lot of improvement. Better luck next time.
