The Tasting Room - Uptown Park
(Wine Boutique)
MY REVIEW: What a shame this place closes so early!! We arrived about 10:30pm for a night with friends, as we are so *over* the noisy/loud club scene, an hour and a half into our drinks the waiter came by and told us they were closing, they offered to cork our bottles, but I'd just poured a fresh glass of wine, and idn't fancy downing it, so that was a 1/3 of a $35 bottle of wine down the drain.
On the good side, I like the ambiance, the crowd seemed nice, plenty of outside seating available, and great location. No wine list available which was a bit dissapointing, as I like to see whats available before approaching the bar to taste.
I'd go again, but get there early to avoid being kicked out!

MY REVIEW: I have been to the Tasting Room many times: for lunch, happy hour, corporate events. I hosted a client seminar and wine tasting there on April Fool's Day. As I had come to expect, everything was ready on time and set up exactly as we had discussed. The wines were excellent, unusual and described in beautiful detail. The appetizers were absolutely delicious and very well-presented. We were perfectly taken care of by everyone on staff. The Tasting Room keeps exceeding itself constantly. Thank you!

MY REVIEW: One of my clients recommended the place for wine and food, and it was convenience to where we work. Great wine and ambience, but the kitchen was being renovated, so it was closed. Would have been a nice touch in consideration of this as a guest to serve complimentary cheese and crackers as its not a really good idea to drink on an empty stomach. I was three sheets to the wind on my drive home after sharing a bottle with my clients. Some complimentary water on the table would also be nice and its not an expensive thing to do. Spent a lot of dough, so come on, lets be a little sensitive to keeping your clients happy and fed.....and a little more sober when they leave.

MY REVIEW: This place is truly one of the coolest placest to hang out in Houston. If you like wine and a laid back environment, this is the joint for you. The main room has a wall of wine that is all semi-rare finds, $30 or under. They will open any bottle in that room if you give them a two glass commitment. The sommelier's at The Tasting Room are doing a wonderful job taking the "Snobiness" out of the wine industry. They don't make the novice feel stupid and they help the more experienced wine drinkers find perfect wines for their tastes and moods. If you're not up for the two-glass commitment, they also have an outstanding selection of wine-by-th-glass. For the non-wine drinker they also have great bottled beer. If you're a bit hungry they have cheese plates that they can match to whatever wine you might be choosing. Another thing that guests can take advantage of are their weekly wine tastings. I'm typically at the Saturday tasting. They usually feature wine from a specific vintner or varietal, or country. The person in charge of the tasting is typically, very knowledgeable and informative. Thursday nights are jazz nights at the Uptown Park location. If your looking for a great after dinner place, this is it. I promise you'll be coming back.
