Profile Description: Tossed is a fast-casual restaurant serving the freshest, best tasting, most well-dressed salads in a hip, comfortable setting. While salads are our focal fashion statement, we pour the same culinary passion into our stylish sandwich and crepe designs. We take pride in our creativity and innovation. All of our dressings are original tossed recipes and our unique crepes are wrapped in our homemade, whole-wheat, fat-free crepes. We also offer delivery and catering. The result is in the taste.
MY REVIEW: LOVE IT!!! Great people, better food. They are very eager to ensure that you will love your meal. Their soups are to die for and the blackened chicken crepe is amazing. I have enjoyed everything I have tried, the same goes for the many friends and coworkers I have introduced the spot to. As for the person who claimed bad service, I have had a thing left out of my bag once or twice but when I call they are always more than apologetic and over compensate me for the mistake, so I have never had a reason to be upset. I also use them for catering and have had nothing but good experiences, last minute orders- picky eaters, you name it and they will accommodate. They are also always very punctual. I am in love! Going there now...

RESPONSE: I am an owner of Tossed in Houston. Normally I would not respond to your reviews but I cannot let a recent one from Darlene stand unanswered. I would like to correct several points:
(1) We only have one salad that costs more than $10.00 and that is our Cayenne Shrimp Salad. All of our other salads are priced between $5.95 and $8.95. The salad Darlene ordered was $7.95.
2) We do have new "to-go" plastic bowls. They are shaped differently than the original bowls, but they are exactly the same size and hold exactly the same amount of salad as our previous bowls and as our in-restaurant salads. Despite the increase in food prices, we have held our prices and our portion sizes the same since we opened in July, 2007.
3) I sincerely apologize that Darlene was missing salad dressings with her order. When she called in to tell us, we were offering to deliver them to her but she hung up on my employee before we could get her information.
Customer service is our number one priority at Tossed. That's why I personally called to apologize and then mailed gift cards to her office to make up for our mistake. I only wish that Darlene had given us a chance. She obviously likes the food since she has visited with us several times.

MY REVIEW: Our office orders from them often, the last time the salad was 1/2 the size it normally was for the full price of $10.00. They did not give us our dressing on the side. We order and pick up, this is the 3rd time they have forgotten to put our dressing with our salads and it is too far to drive back. I called no apology for forgetting the dressing. Will never go back

MY REVIEW: I love the food at Tossed. So far I've tried a salad & a crepe; both were fresh & tasty. I feel that patrons get good food for their money. My only problem with the place is that it's incredibly loud. There are no soft surfaces to help muffle the sound. I had to keep asking my companion to repeat herself so that I could hear her. Having a conversation is difficult with that level of noise. I'll go back, but next time I'll sit outside.

MY REVIEW: My husband and I meet at Tossed at least once a week in the afternoon just to enjoy their delicious dessert crepes. I don't know of anything like them in Houston. My favorite is the big chocolate which is a melted chocolate bar wrapped in a sweet crepe This is topped with a brownie and ice cream with chocolate drizzled on the top. My husband usually gets the nutella crepe which is the same dessert crepe filled with nutella and served with bananas and whipped cream. They also have a great fresh fruit crepe. We love relaxing on the patio under the umbrellas and watching the traffic go by.

MY REVIEW: So I haven't actually been in the restaurant, but my assistant had Tossed deliver food for a monthly meeting. I don't typically get excited about food we have in meetings, but the wraps and salads were outstanding. The best we have ever had. Sounds funny but I have never seen a group of grown men (the ladies loved it too) get so excited over wraps and salads. Go figure. With that kind of reaction, I thought it was worth passing along. Safe to say we'll have it again.

MY REVIEW: What a great "hidden gem" in West Houston ! The salads are incredible, as well as the crepes. It isn't a fast food restaurant, so all of you who are complaining about length of time to get your order...go down the street to M*cDonald's. It is a place that is meant to relax and enjoy your lunch. The menu is varied and prices are reasonable for the quality of food. My only complaint, more locations!

MY REVIEW: Though my initial experience was not "overwhelming" given service was a little slow and things seemed a little disorganized (perhaps to be expected with a new restaurant, I decided to give Tossed another try. And what an improvement!
Cashier was well-informed and helpful, service was fast (I had a Goat Cheese crepe and my friend had the new Apple Walnut Salad), the manager was out walking around checking on people, etc. And to top it off, they let you bring your own wine! I didn't do it this time because I didn't know...but I plan to bring a bottle next time and sit on the patio.
Nice improvement...and can't wait to be back soon!

MY REVIEW: There are a few things that Tossed needs to work on....but for the most part my husband and I really enjoyed it. We went Saturday for lunch, he got the BBQ wrap, he said it was very good. I got the BBQ salad, it was huge and very good. Everything was fresh. Service was a little slow seeing how there were only two other couples in the place. We sat outside on the patio...very nice.
We went back for dinner on Sunday. I got a make your own salad and my husband got the buffulo chicken wrap. We both agreed that once again our food was good. Service was friendly. It is expensive for a salad but they are huge! We will be back.

MY REVIEW: I read the previous reviews by other folks prior to trying out this new establishment. Honestly, some of the negatives are dead-on true, comments.
I went for dinner at about 7PM with my family, including two children. The restaurant was pretty empty with only about 2 or 3 seated tables. Believe me, the employees were not being over worked. The menu was deceptive. My son ordered a 'Buffalo Chicken' crepe, yet he ended up a whole wheat wrap which was ice refigerated cold. The chicken was simply the same cold chicken used for the salads. When I asked to have it heated because it was ice cold, the employee heated it, returned it and guess what....it was still cold. The food was marginal. I had a Salad , which was fair and we also order two bowls of soup (chicken noodle and clam chowder) which my family thought was no better than a can of Cambells.
However, the bigger issue I ran into was the atmosphere. There were two groups of teenagers who both came in shortly after we arrived. They were loud & rowdy. They appeared to be friends with one of the restaurant's cashiers. The employees did nothing to control their friends. In fact, the employee even sat down with one of the two groups to hang out with them. Come on folks...Totally unacceptible.
She later continued to flirt with them (while they were leaving) and turned a blind eye to the fact that non-paying customers (ie, only one of the three of her friends ordered any food) were provided water cups for free soft drinks.
Not really fair to other patrons who paid their fair share and got stuck with the bad atmosphere which was further encouraged by the Tossed Staff. If this is the atmosphere Tossed wishes to portray...I won't be back with my family again.

MY REVIEW: I have been such a big fan since they opened. So I invited 2 friends to join me there so they could see what I was raving about. Then started the worst service experience I've had in a very long time.
One friend ordered right after me. They brought our soup at the same time, and my crepe. She had ordered one too. After about 10 minutes, she asked about her crepe, and they said it was coming. After 20 minutes, I went up and asked and was told that they ran out of crepes, and they "didn't know they would be this busy". Huh? Isn't that what you want? I advised that there were other crepes delivered to people who ordered after her. She got hers about 7 min later.
My other friend ordered a Cobb salad about 10 minutes after us. That took about 30 minutes and 3 requests to get. A salad! In a salad restaurant! The waitress offered to give her some soup free--that took about 25 minutes and a reminder to get.
All in all, lunch took an hour and a half. I was so embarrassed that I had recommended the restaurant so highly. To top it off, we asked to speak to the manager, and we saw him look over when the waitress told him. He ignored us and never came to the table. Clearly, he didn't care, nor did any of the other staff seem to. I will stop recommending the restaurant.

MY REVIEW: We have been going to Tossed since they first opened and love the salads and crepes (wraps). But now they also have BYOB, bring your own wine. It's fabulous to sit on the shaded patio and enjoy our favorite bottle of wine with a great salad. They provide the cups and a corkscrew (no charge). We'll be spending a lot of weekend evenings there.

MY REVIEW: I visited twice and had salad both times. The strong points are the very fresh and they have lots of varity. But it is expensive for salad, although one salad very large and enough for two people. So I try to share or order with dressing on the side and save half for later.

MY REVIEW: I had lunch at Tossed last week after hearing several coworkers and friends rave about the fresh salad and great prices. It seems as if everyone was just gushing about it so I had to find out just how garden fresh the salad options were for myself.
My experience was great, just as they had advertised. I ordered a Caesar salad and tortilla soup. It was more than I could eat, but delicious. My friend got the goat cheese crepe and loved it.
Would I go back to Tossed? Absolutely, every chance I get!!

MY REVIEW: I saw the website and read the reviews...and they had CREPES on the menu! This is one thing Houston is missing - a restaurant that specializes in sweet and savory crepes. So I hauled a good friend who also loved crepes and much to our disappointment, we were victims of false advertising. Their savory crepes were actually WRAPS! The lady behind the counter even had the audacity to tell me they were the same thing. The salads didn't look particularly appetizing so we left. I don't know what they call them up in New York, but we Texans know the difference!

MY REVIEW: The salads at Tossed are to die for. I usually get the Tossed Signature or the Greek Salad. The only problem with the Greek is too many olives so I ask for only half, which they are glad to do. I like Tossed because it's like a salad bar without the public access. The "salad bar" is behind a glass divider and employees (who wear gloves) make each salad to order. The ingredients are numerous and everything is really fresh. The citrus chipotle dressing is very good. They are happy to give you a sample if you want a taste.

MY REVIEW: We waited for months for this restaurant to open and finally tried it last weekend. Two words: over...priced. Two more words: bad...soup. I sent back the broccoli-cheese because it tasted burnt. They replaced it with the mushroom, which I just could not stomach. It just tasted strange. Like a Campbell's french onion gone bad. The add-ons for a "make it your own way" salad were ridiculously overpriced. They must think they are still above the Mason-Dixon line. Sorry, darlin'! This is Houston. If you're going to charge me $1 for 1 hard boiled egg, then I'm not going back. Thumbs down. Way down.

MY REVIEW: The opening of Tossed was a long time coming; however, it was worth the wait. Just the kind of restaurant this neighborhood needed. A little embarrassed to admit it but I have been to Tossed 5 times in the first 3 weeks. But I have ordered something different each time. Favorite was the Chicken and Goat Cheese crepe follwed by the Tossed Signature Salad. Also ordered the Big Chocolate for dessert once...amazing.
While it may cost a $1 or $2 more than some place like Potbelly (this is not fast food), the ingredients are clearly much more fresh, the food is served on "china" and they clean your table for you. In other words, it was well worth it for me. But if your goal is simply to find a "cheap" lunch then you may not appreciate Tossed.
Lunches have been packed but dinners have been pretty wide open. Haven't tried the web site yet but would love to hear from anyone who has.
My recommendation: at least twice a week...with the Big Chocolate.

MY REVIEW: I was really looking forward to the opening of this restaurant since its sign has been up since March, and I drive past it everyday. It (finally!) opened in mid-July. This is a chain that started in NYC and is basically a salad restaurant. It features many different types of salads, as well as the ability to create your own by choosing from different ingredients. They also have "crepes", which looked like just wraps, as well as sandwiches and one soup each day.
On my first visit I ordered they Cayenne Shrimp Salad. It was fairly pricy (almost $10), and I was disappointed in how few shrimp there were. The taste of the salad was pretty good, and the ingredients were very fresh. Next time I think I will try to create my own salad or try one of their wraps/sandwiches. Overall I liked the fresh ingredients and the choices, but the prices are a little high.
