Tossed

MY REVIEW: Been going to Tossed for several months now and probably had most things on the menu (trying to eat healthy) and I must say I am most impressed with the consistant very high quality of the ingredients they use. This covers the lettuce's and fixings they add to make for new and sometimes unexpectedly great flavors for "salads and soups and sandwiches".

MY REVIEW: I just happened to stumble across Tossed on my way home from Kroger in the same Parkway Village Shopping center. I stopped in to get something to go, and they recommended the SW Blackened Chicken Salad. That was the best salad I have ever had anywhere- fresh, spicey, full of chicken, avocado, black bean corn salsa. Since then I have been to Tossed at least twice a week and sometimes order online and take it home after work. You can't beat the prices either - $8-$9 for a HUGE salad or GREAT sandwiches on ciabatta bread. The soups are also really good and wholesome

MY REVIEW: I have to say I agree with the previous reviewer: it's misleading for Tossed to call their food crepes. The word crepes refers to a specific style of dish from French cooking (Google and Wikipedia are your friend), which is not what Tossed sells. A supporting point: there are currently 19 restaurants listed on b4-u-eat under the crepes category... they ALL mean the traditional French crepes, with the single exception of Tossed, which is the only place that uses it to refer to a salad wrap. You may like the salad wrap, but you shouldn't call another reviewer "uninformed" for making a point about standard food terminology.

MY REVIEW: I was reading through the reviews tonight, and although I don't usually write reviews, I had to respond to some of the uninformed people on this thread. By definition, a crepe is a thin pancake. Tossed serves a "crepe wrap" which also by definition is a wrap using a crepe instead of the overused tortilla. The crepe wraps at Tossed are delicious salads wrapped in a whole wheat fat free crepe which I much prefer to the wraps in other salad places that wrap healthy salads in unhealthy fat filled tortillas. They also make their crepes in house and don't get them in a plastic package. That being said, their chicken goat cheese wrap and their turkey cheddar crepe wrap are to-die-for. I always upgrade my chips to one of the soups of the day and it is a huge meal. I also love their salads but the wraps are by far my favorite (have them a couple of times a week).

MY REVIEW: I feel the need to point out to those who are unfamiliar with Tossed that "crepe" is being used in a different way here. I found this restaurant's entry because it was listed under "crepes" on the site, and wanted to go because the reviews had good things to say about their "crepes".
Turns out, their crepes are not what one would think. They basically use an oversized crepe-style pancake as a wrap for salad ingredients. It's a bit like the way that C*hipotle will put your ingredients in a bowl or wrap them in an tortilla. Don't think you're going to get "crepes", the dish.
Also, one review mentioned delicious desert crepes, clearly meaning the traditional crepes. I think that review must have been posted under the wrong restaurant, but if they ever had anything like that they don't now.

MY REVIEW: First time here, thought it was too pricy for just a sandwich shop, but then found out about their corporate discount program. Show your work badge and get 10% off. Good sandwiches, very similar to J*ason's Deli.

MY REVIEW: LOVE IT!!! Great people, better food. They are very eager to ensure that you will love your meal. Their soups are to die for and the blackened chicken crepe is amazing. I have enjoyed everything I have tried, the same goes for the many friends and coworkers I have introduced the spot to. As for the person who claimed bad service, I have had a thing left out of my bag once or twice but when I call they are always more than apologetic and over compensate me for the mistake, so I have never had a reason to be upset. I also use them for catering and have had nothing but good experiences, last minute orders- picky eaters, you name it and they will accommodate. They are also always very punctual. I am in love! Going there now...

OWNER RESPONSE: I am an owner of Tossed in Houston. Normally I would not respond to your reviews but I cannot let a recent one from Darlene stand unanswered. I would like to correct several points:
(1) We only have one salad that costs more than $10.00 and that is our Cayenne Shrimp Salad. All of our other salads are priced between $5.95 and $8.95. The salad Darlene ordered was $7.95.
2) We do have new "to-go" plastic bowls. They are shaped differently than the original bowls, but they are exactly the same size and hold exactly the same amount of salad as our previous bowls and as our in-restaurant salads. Despite the increase in food prices, we have held our prices and our portion sizes the same since we opened in July, 2007.
3) I sincerely apologize that Darlene was missing salad dressings with her order. When she called in to tell us, we were offering to deliver them to her but she hung up on my employee before we could get her information.
Customer service is our number one priority at Tossed. That's why I personally called to apologize and then mailed gift cards to her office to make up for our mistake. I only wish that Darlene had given us a chance. She obviously likes the food since she has visited with us several times.

MY REVIEW: Our office orders from them often, the last time the salad was 1/2 the size it normally was for the full price of $10.00. They did not give us our dressing on the side. We order and pick up, this is the 3rd time they have forgotten to put our dressing with our salads and it is too far to drive back. I called no apology for forgetting the dressing. Will never go back

MY REVIEW: I love the food at Tossed. So far I've tried a salad & a crepe; both were fresh & tasty. I feel that patrons get good food for their money. My only problem with the place is that it's incredibly loud. There are no soft surfaces to help muffle the sound. I had to keep asking my companion to repeat herself so that I could hear her. Having a conversation is difficult with that level of noise. I'll go back, but next time I'll sit outside.

MY REVIEW: My husband and I meet at Tossed at least once a week in the afternoon just to enjoy their delicious dessert crepes. I don't know of anything like them in Houston. My favorite is the big chocolate which is a melted chocolate bar wrapped in a sweet crepe This is topped with a brownie and ice cream with chocolate drizzled on the top. My husband usually gets the nutella crepe which is the same dessert crepe filled with nutella and served with bananas and whipped cream. They also have a great fresh fruit crepe. We love relaxing on the patio under the umbrellas and watching the traffic go by.

MY REVIEW: So I haven't actually been in the restaurant, but my assistant had Tossed deliver food for a monthly meeting. I don't typically get excited about food we have in meetings, but the wraps and salads were outstanding. The best we have ever had. Sounds funny but I have never seen a group of grown men (the ladies loved it too) get so excited over wraps and salads. Go figure. With that kind of reaction, I thought it was worth passing along. Safe to say we'll have it again.

MY REVIEW: What a great "hidden gem" in West Houston ! The salads are incredible, as well as the crepes. It isn't a fast food restaurant, so all of you who are complaining about length of time to get your order...go down the street to M*cDonald's. It is a place that is meant to relax and enjoy your lunch. The menu is varied and prices are reasonable for the quality of food. My only complaint, more locations!

MY REVIEW: Though my initial experience was not "overwhelming" given service was a little slow and things seemed a little disorganized (perhaps to be expected with a new restaurant, I decided to give Tossed another try. And what an improvement!
Cashier was well-informed and helpful, service was fast (I had a Goat Cheese crepe and my friend had the new Apple Walnut Salad), the manager was out walking around checking on people, etc. And to top it off, they let you bring your own wine! I didn't do it this time because I didn't know...but I plan to bring a bottle next time and sit on the patio.
Nice improvement...and can't wait to be back soon!

MY REVIEW: There are a few things that Tossed needs to work on....but for the most part my husband and I really enjoyed it. We went Saturday for lunch, he got the BBQ wrap, he said it was very good. I got the BBQ salad, it was huge and very good. Everything was fresh. Service was a little slow seeing how there were only two other couples in the place. We sat outside on the patio...very nice.
We went back for dinner on Sunday. I got a make your own salad and my husband got the buffulo chicken wrap. We both agreed that once again our food was good. Service was friendly. It is expensive for a salad but they are huge! We will be back.
