MY REVIEW: Since my husband and I found La Flor de Cuba we have been there several times. We invited my daughter and her family, they invited their in-laws and I recommended it to several friends who were very impressed with the food and the prices, and some of my friends have taken clients there. The décor is very traditional and evocative of Cuba.

I was born and raised in Cuba, my mother was an excellent cook and restaurant was her business for many years. La flor de Cuba is the best and most authentic Cuban food restaurant I have ever visited in the US. I often visit Miami and dine there, but this one is the most authentic Cuban restaurant I have been, from the platanos a puñetazos, yuca con mojo to the vinyl table cover, everything is soo Cuban! I hardly can’t wait for the mojitos!!

Thank you for bringing to us a little bit of our loved country!

MY REVIEW: I agree with the reviewer who said this place is addictive.

We lived in Florida for many years and just returned from a visit in which most of our dining was in Cuban restaurants. Flor de Cuba is excellent and the food is better than some of the "best of" restaurants in South Florida. The ambiance is very pleasant, the food is excellent, the service is excellent and the prices are modest. They have applied for an alcoholic beverages license, but you can BYOB in the mean time.

I do not eat dessert, however couldn't resist picking up 3 items from the bakery on the way out.

MY REVIEW: I took my family to that restaurant. It was amazing Cuban food. The price was pretty reasonable. The food isn't spicy and it is seasoned to perfection. We absolutely loved it.

MY REVIEW: I went here with my husband and 4 yr old daughter for lunch after reading a review here and I have to say I had never had Cuban food that didn't come from a "home kitchen" taste this good. The ropa vieja is awesome and the cuban sandwich is so rich and filling!!! The lemonade is great too. The only down point is that the restaurant was too cold and the children's menu is too pricey for the amount of food they get. Overall the food was great and the service was awesome too. The waitress was very kind and explained what all was included in the meals.

MY REVIEW: I strongly recommend this restaurant. The food tastes like my Cuban mom's home cooking. The last time I was there I had the tasajo and it was great. The Cuban pastries were delicioso. We definately needed a taste of Cuba here in Houston!

MY REVIEW: We have visited this restaurant 3 times now and we just love the food. We moved from Miami (AKA Little Habana) about 2 years ago and could not find a good "Latin Flavor" restaurant until we discover Flor De Cuba, the food is delicious, the staff is very nice and they play good Music. My 15 years old favorites are the "Meat Pastelitos" and "Cuban Sandwich". Me, I love the "Bistec De Palomilla" and if you like fruit juices I recommend "Batido de Mamey" with milk of course. We all love their food and recommend the restaurant for any occasion

MY REVIEW: The best "rabo encendido" (Cuban for Osso Bucco). Everything is great and authentic. The Cuban bakery is something we were needing here in Houston.

Very pleasant place.

MY REVIEW: We went to Flor de Cuba for dinner this evening after reading the reviews I read online. We had a mixed appetizer plate...everything was really good, especially the Empanadas. I had the Cubano (sandwich) and it was really good, I just wish it had more pickles on it. My husband had the Ropa Vieja with Tostones, Rice, and Black Beans. The meat was to die for... My daughter had the grilled Red Snapper...we were very dissappointed with the fish...it was very dry and overcooked. My husbands friend got the Chicken Sandwich...again not very impressive.

The ambience left a lot to be desired. Because it just opened last year I won't make a big deal about it, but the table we sat at was a plastic folding table that was very wobbly, hopefully as the customer base grows so will the quality of the furniture.

We will go there again if we are near that area of town.

MY REVIEW: My husband and I visited this restaurant last night after reading the great reviews. Everyone was correct, the food was great! It is a very well layed out restaurant (clean and open). We had the Palomia bistec and the roasted chicken, but very tasty! The black beans and white rice were the best. We can't wait to go back!

MY REVIEW: This is a really nice place. I've done both dine in and take out and both were excellent. I really love their pork sandwich. Here it comes with fries unlike other nearby Cuban places that give you chips. When you dine in, you also get the salad bar - even with a sandwich! It's not extensive, but they do have basic salad stuff and fruit salad as well. What I really liked is that they had jalapenos which I added to my pork sandwich to kick it up a notch. The restaurant is very nice inside and the wait staff is friendly and helpful. They also have baked goods for sale near the entrance. Haven't tried them yet, but they look awful good.

MY REVIEW: I really don’t know anything about Cuban food, but after reading the reviews, I decided to try the Ropa Vieja. I ordered it with vegetables instead of rice and had iced tea for a drink. My waitress was helpful and courteous; she seemed genuinely concerned that I have a pleasant dining experience.

The entree came with beans and plantains (maduros), bread and a trip to the salad bar (The hot salsa is particularly good.) Portions were generous and delicious. The vegetable medley was crisp and tasty. Even the iced tea seemed to be freshly brewed and appropriately strong (not like the typical diluted restaurant swill.)

I have no idea as to the authenticity of the food; I just know it was really good. I plan to return to explore other items on the menu,

MY REVIEW: Have tried this place twice now and was pleased both time. Of course, I'm a sucker for good Cuban pork sandwiches and their's are excellent. You also get a nice side of fries with your sandwich. In addition, the salad bar - although small - has some good extra treats including a nice fruit salad and jalapenos that I shoveled onto my sandwich. The wait staff here was very friendly and quite competent. Can't wait to try more of their menu. The one good addition will be when they finally get their liquor license.

MY REVIEW: This place is addictive, so I'm glad I live nearby. In the two weeks since my first visit, I've been back twice and recommended it to others. The Pechuga de Pollo a la Plancha is delicious, as is anything else with the grilled chicken--salad and sandwich. The steak sandwich was great. I loved the Flan and my brother told me the tres leches was outstanding. I'm not usually a ripe plantain person ( I tend to prefer the green ones fried), but I loved them here. I look forward to going one night when there is music and dancing. I assume this will be a regular thing on weekends after they get a liquor license. This is one of my new favorite restaurants overall.

MY REVIEW: I have been eating Cuban Cuisine all my life and I was very impressed with the authenticity of the food at Flor de Cuba. My wife and I had dinner there and the food was wonderful. I have tried Cuban Cuisine in many places and this was one of the best I have eaten at outside of Miami, Florida. The atmosphere was wonderful. The service was typical Cuban Restaurant service, awesome. They also have a bakery and also serve breakfast. We were given a tour of the entire restaurant and it is larger than it appears. They have a bar and we were told as soon as they have their liquor license they will have a live Latin band on Saturday nights. I cannot wait for this. They also serve Traditional Cuban Breakfast. They also have a bakery which makes my favorite pastries in the world, Pastelitos. My wife and I loved it so much we are going for breakfast in the morning.

MY REVIEW: A few weeks ago I was in the Hwy 6 and Clay Rd. area and spotted a new restaurant called Flor de Cuba and decided to give it a try.

I was with my friend and both of us ordered a complimentary sample appetizer (Wednesday night) of ham croquettes. They were extremely tasty served with a garlic butter sauce. For entrees, we both ordered the breaded Cuban steak that comes with rice, black beans and maduros, (fried sweet plantains). The food quality was outstanding and the lively ambiance with background Cuban music made it a great experience. The owner-chef is Cuban and he came by our table to make were enjoying ourselves.

This Cuban restarant is truly worth trying. It is some of the best Cuban Cuisine in Houston.

MY REVIEW: The food is great and so is the service. The portions are very generous. I can recommend the lechon and the bistec de palomilla, both are great choices. The rice and beans are wonderful and so are the maduros and tostones. The only thing I can think of as a weak point is that the restaurant is really spread out, only booths up front and only tables in the back. I wish they would have a good mixture of booths and tables in both areas. Give it a try you will be glad that you did.

MY REVIEW: It's the best cuban food I'v had since my mother was alive. The service is outstanding, and family oriented. I will be back soon. I strongly recommend Flor de Cuba Restaurant, the cuban food is the best in Houston. Oh... and the Cuban Chef and owner is cute and young.

MY REVIEW: Authentic Cuban Food! I went to Flor de Cuba excited, after being told by one of my cousins how great the food was. I was not disappointed. The place has a very warm feel to it, with nice little Cuban music playing in the background and very nice attentive staff. The most important thing though was definitely the food! Large portions, and high quality. I had the Cuban sandwich while my wife had the “Ropa Vieja” and we both fell in love with this Cuban jewel. We even needed take out boxes. I really, really hope the place lasts a long time, since they’ve found regular customers in my wife and I.

MY REVIEW: I just ate at Flor de Cuba, a brand new Cuban restaurant on HWY 6 and Clay Rd. Somebody finally got it right! This is by far the best Cuban food I have had since visting Miami a few years ago. I strongly suggest everyone try the ropa vieja with some platanitos maduros. You won't be disappointed.
