I thought I was ordering whole beef but got shredded beef instead, and it was still very tough to chew. The description didn't say it was shredded, which is usually what you see in other restaurants who describe their food more accurately. We didn't complain about it; learned a lesson that some restaurants menu are not accurate and can be misleading. The flavor was average, but the toughness of the meat (it was already shredded) lowered the ranking of the food. It was barely touched, so we took it home, but it spoiled right the next day in the refrigerator. They also added gratuity to a party of 6, and I think this is deceptive because it wasn't disclosed. We asked about this, and they were very rude and almost chased us out of the restaurant. I wouldn't go back. There are better places in Katy for less expensive prices and less stressful eats. We discovered it by accident and have been back many times and have introduced several people to it. The service is excellant, the food is delicious and the serving sizes are just right. We've been seeing the signs for awhile & wanted to try someplace new & different. This certainly fit the bill. The food was excellent, the portions were right, and the prices were extremely fair. Our waiter,Gustavo,was personable, attentive & helpful with any questions we had about menu items. My lunch partner had the Snapper tacos & I had the Calamari tacos. There were 3 generous sized tacos on each entree for $8.50. We've paid the same price (or more) for 2 fish tacos elsewhere & they weren't nearly the quality as we had here. I can think of no weak points about Palma de Cera & we absolutely intend to return. This little gem deserves to be around a very long time. I'm not sure about the other review because this resturant is a Colombian restaurant not a Puerto Rican or Cuban it's more from SOUTH AMERICA....So the person that person was informed WRONG….but this restaurant is really good, clean and the owner is really nice...I ordered the Bandeja Paisa and boy it was delicious...I highly recommend it for those that like SOUTH AMERICAN FOOD....Also the plates are enormous not small like the other person said...Check it out!!!! MY REVIEW: This is the first time i visited. First of all nice location clean modern etc etc.The food was really good, however i was told this was a puerto rican restuarant and this is definately not a typical puerto rican restuarant. They do serve some puerto rican dishes but the food is a mix of puerto rican/colombian/cuban/ and traditional latin plates.. If you are looking for traditional "back home" dishes (pasteles/lechon/arroz/ gandules/carne frita)....these dishes are not on the menu and although the food was good the portions were small (real small).
