Palma de Cera

MY REVIEW: We tried the Bandejo Paisa and it was very good, it's kind of a sampler platter, our favorites were the skirt steak and the beans and sweet plantains, there was a creamy green sauce that came with chips that had a hint of cilantro and bunch of other savory things. The beef and potato empanada was great and came with another sauce that was good, it had a little bite....we'll definitely return for more of these columbian goodies.

MY REVIEW: My husband and I took Mom here for Mother's Day. It was the first visit for all of us. What a wonderful meal we had!! The service was fantastic. And, the food was even better. We shared the Churrasco and 2 different Tilapia dishes. The portions were quite large so I get to eat the leftovers for lunch today - and I can't wait. We will definitely be back.

MY REVIEW: First time and it was great. We showed up Sunday night after 8 PM and were greater warmly even though we were the only customers and it was their closing time. I had the grilled shrimp and my husband had the grilled chicken. We both liked our meals. Only thing to improve is to omit the ranch dressing on the salad. Service was great. We will back.

MY REVIEW: First visit to Palma de Cera and we absolutely loved it. Green sauce that comes with chips was fantastic. We had tilapia and it was excellent, and the portions are large. Prices are very reasonable too. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful, explaining the dishes and making recommendations. Her service was better than what we've had in some high dollar restaurants. We'll definitely become regulars here.

MY REVIEW: What a terrific place! There's a big difference between "service" and "hospitality," and Palma de Cera models hospitality. The owner was on site: Greeting, taking orders, answering questions, filling water glasses and making recommendations. The owner's mom works the lunch shift...very gracious and welcoming. The quiet bar is a nice place for a solo meal.
The food was wonderful; fresh plantains, arroz, fish and beef. The fish tacos on the lunch menu rival any in town. Price points are reasonable, and one plate will satisfy those that like to share. Note: This is Columbian food, not Caribbean; there's a difference.

MY REVIEW: It is real Colombian food, so if you are wanting the real thing go to Palma de Cera, the empanadas are the best. They have "sancocho, mojara frita, arroz con pollo, carne desmechada, bandeja paisa, mmmm...". Even my american husband loves it, and that is a lot to say, because when it comes to Latin American food he hates it.
Don't miss the chance to go there, the waiters are nice and helpfull, so if you don't know what to order, for sure they will help you. The best flan you can ever have. The salsa for the chips is perfect. The place is clean and enjoyable not as other latin restaurants we've been that are kind off dirty.
If you are needing a little of mom's love, go and meet the owner, she is super kind and nice. She is normally for lunch on week days. Or for a new years hangover, she will pamper you.

MY REVIEW: WOW! What a great restaurant! First let me rave about the green sauce that is served with chips. It was so good, I could have drank it!!!! My husband ordered talpia with a yellow sauce and he liked it so much, he asked the waiter how it was cooked. I had the ropa veija ...... OUTSTANDING!!! I had never had it before but now I can not stop thinking about it. Service was very good and the restaurant was clean. The owner was very nice and personally stopped by our table to ask how things were. He even gave me the ingrediants for the green sauce! All in all, it was a great experience and we will return. We stuffed ourselves so we were unable to have dessert.
My only 2 small gripes were that they only serve wine and beer. I was hoping they would have had some speciality drinks. And the restuarant is really lit up, wish they had the lights on a dimmer.
Can not wait to go back and eat the ropa veija! This time I will save room for dessert!

MY REVIEW: service is great - the staff is very attentive. my wife and i love the food here though, everything is fresh, very flavorful, very good portions, reasonable prices. you just can't ask for anything more. except for them to make more tres leches, they've been out every time we've gone! the flan is excellent though, some of the best i've had. you've got to try this place!

MY REVIEW: Loved every mouthful. Wait staff friendly, management available at a moment, food just heavenly. My second visit and I was hooked from the first. I think I might have offended them by taking most of my food to go - I just wanted the goodness to stretch to more than 1 meal. Saving money these days but I will continue to spend my money at such a lovely, family restaurant. Not that you need to scrimp to dine here - food is generously portioned and just as fabulously priced and yummy. You will not be disappointed. Honestly.

MY REVIEW: We love Palma De Cera. The food quality is always very good. The menu is mostly informative, however the waitstaff is more than happy to describe the various entrees more completely if necessary. We find Palma to be a very good value for our family. I believe if you give it a try it will become a regular in your dining rotation.

MY REVIEW: I love Palma De Cera!
The food and presentation are always excellent. Their flan is so yummy (sweet but not too sweet)! It's quiet, relaxing and a great place for the whole family to eat. They serve all kinds of food, but I love their ox tail soup. My fiance loves their steak and bacon wrapped shrimp. They serve all their dishes with white rice, a small salad, and fried but really soft plantains (my favorite!). Their prices are extremely reasonable, they have really large portions, their waitstaff is extremely curtious and attentive. What's not to love about Palma De Cera!?!
I encourage everyone to try it at least once, we all need to support our Katy resturants! I think I saw one of their coupons in that entertainment book.

MY REVIEW: Obviously Mr. unsatisfied is either from a competitor restaurant or somebody with taste buds problems. If there is something this restaurant has is great flavored meat. That is why I go there, my wife in the other hand cannot have enough of fish stew and soups.

MY REVIEW: This is an amzing Restuarant...The staff is amazing and the food is FABULOUS. Nice ambiance and very clean and neat..My wife and I love to eat out and this is one of our favorite restaurants. We also enjoy the P*alm and D*el Friscos, however places such as these cost a fortune to dine. Palma de Cera is very affordable!....My wife is Latin and I am Irish, this is an authentic Latin South American restaurant..you get what you ask for and pay for here...Whoever wrote the other review must have thought this was just another run of the mill Mexican restaurant!!!....A one of kind..Try it you will LOVE it..!!!
