We are moving from Austin to Houston and were excited to visit Chinatown and were recommended to go to Arco (named "Dong Hai" in Chinese) by the brother of a Chinese born friend. The food (moist flavorful Peking duck and savory duck soup and a wonderful sweet bean and rice pudding dessert) was excellent, the restaurant beautiful and classy and the service very nice from two different people who made sure we were satisfied and even poured refills of our duck soup. We will definitely go back and get more adventurous and try the Shark Fin soup and some other seafood items. Thanks Arco for making our first visit to Chinatown memorable. After we had paid the check and we were just conversing at the table, the waitress impolitely asked us to leave so they could serve another group waiting for a table. I know its Chinatown and come to expect bad service, but that is still no excuse to shoo us out.. We won't ever come back. Excellent dishes. I'm Chinese, and I consider this place to be the best Hong Kong style restaurant in town. Very nice quiet ambiance with white cloth tables and 7 day a week lunch specials are further strong points. No weak points noted. The orange peel fish is outstanding and highlights chef's strengths. We also had the scallops which were also excellent. Every dish we have had has been quite good. My wife is native born Chinese she loves this resturaunt.
