MY REVIEW: Excellent and attentive service, and the food was great! Very comfortable atmosphere and the staff was so friendly. The tostones were good, and the churrasco de pollo was delicious. the chimichurri was unusual for me...very vinegar-y. the mojito was delicious, but beware...it's pricey in comparison to the meal!

MY REVIEW: I went for lunch and enjoyed the meal very much. It's easy to see the place could get a little cacophonous at night with the huge speakers on the walls but the music was muted and the TVs, though on, had the sound off. It's probably the nicest restaurant along this stretch of Bellaire.

I had the Bandeja Paisa, a traditional Colombian dish, here called the Bandeja Paisa Gourmet. On the Alebrije menu, chicharron is given the more trendy, upscale name of pork belly and sirloin is substituted for the skirt steak that is usually on the plate. The thin steak was very good, the chorizo excellent, although it was a very small portion. The red beans were in a separate pot and were really a soup. The plantanos maduros were also very good. I suppose what you like when it comes to chicharron depends on whether you like your bacon crispy or chewy and this was a little underdone to my taste, not the best I have encountered.

By the time my food came out (not a long wait) I had the place to myself along with Alberto the waiter and the bartender and had a very nice conversation with Alberto along with my meal.

The restaurant bills itself as Latin or South American Fusion and there are some Venezuelan and Mexican items on the menu, mostly as appetizers. The portions of my dinner were a little smaller than this same platter served at other Colombian restaurants but the price was still reasonable. I'm looking forward to going back to try the Sancocho.

MY REVIEW: I highly recommend this restaurant, the service is excellent, the cusine is very latin fusion and creative with a very explict taste. The ambience is very cozy and the night life is very good and excelent music.

MY REVIEW: Never actually went to the restaurant I had a couple of representatives; Cynthia and another gentleman, stop by the Car Dealership I work at. Very nice people gave me a free meal wich was delicious (fajitas) So we used them to cater for the sales staff on saturday. Everything was delivered and arrived as promised and despite past experiences from other restaurants who catered for us the fajitas were moist tortillas stayed hot and everything was delicious. I will definately check out the place.

MY REVIEW: My family and I love this place. In fact we will be booking a party here in the near future. The food is well presented, and the atmosphere is fun and inviting.

I would say the layout is a "clubby" laid back feel. There are sitting areas and love seats set back against the main dining area (which will be perfect for mingling at our upcoming party). The food is a nice break from normal tex-mex. I would call it a South American fushion place -- think C*hurrascos meets P*apasitos, something like that. The white rice (which I normally aovid) is quite good. It has a moist unique flavor, so I rec. trying it if your meal comes with it. Meat dishes have all been good and flavorful.

MY REVIEW: I have had lunch and dinner in this restaurant and both times were very pleasing. The beef has such a good flavor, I crave it. The stuffed tomatoes are not only presented beautifully, but the taste is acceptional. It is unlike any other restaurant I have visited in Texas. If you want something out of the norm., I highly suggest this restaurant.

MY REVIEW: 1st and last visit. I live in Bellaire and decided to try this restaurant after reading a review in the Bellaire Magazine. The empanada's had to be frozen and reheated as they were tasteless. Sausa's had to be used liberally in order to get a flavor from the entire meal. The Plantains were bland all 3 ways they were served. The restaurant was so dark that I had to get up and find a light in order to read the menu. I asked for change for a $10 and after 10 minutes none was to be had. There was what appeared to be a buffet and several diners close to my table served themselves. The food looked to be typical buffet fare. I was expecting a flavor explosion and only found it to be a small POP. I travel to South America, Brazil, regularly and find the food to be fresh and flavorful. Alebrije should just become a music club and leave preparing food to those with some skill.

MY REVIEW: In the evening, Alebrije is more like a club. It's big place and we dined early, before the place began to rock out. Excellent service. Good beer: Peruvian Crystal. Food sadly quite...average. The Costillos, babyback pork ribs served with lime (mentioned in another review), were chewy and tough, been around too long IMO. It had sold out of its "signature" sancocho stew at lunchtime. Discovering this, we switched to the Parrillada Alebrije - this restaurant's version of fajitas. The mixed beef and chicken were overdone and uninspiring; the plantains suffered from death-by-grilling. Perhaps the kitchen staff had gone "mechanical." Although the people are friendly, portions large and prices low, we won't rush back.

MY REVIEW: Walked into this place by chance about 2:30 on a rainy Saturday afternoon. The place was calm but the space was beautiful, open and airy. Sat with a friend and she had mango juice and I had lemonade (woo hoo! Big drinkers, eh?). Expecting the typical Tex-Mex food, this food was decidedly South American. Having spent 8 weeks in Peru last year, I was excited for the options. We just had appetizers while we were there, but they were all excellent and beautifully presented.

The Costillos (babyback pork ribs) were simply roasted on the bone and served with Arepas (South American tortilla-style flat bread) with a delicious sauce and a squeese of lime; the only way they could have been better was to have more arepas for the ample meat. Also had the plantains, which were a flatter, flakier and more tender version of Cuban Tostones and came with two excellent sauces. We also had the empanadas, which were flaky, baked and filled with a savory meat and a light chimichurri sauce on the side. All of this for only about $22.00. I cannot wait to go back!

MY REVIEW: Excellent fresh tasting food. The empanadas were a meal although they were listed as an appetizer. Plenty of beef. This is an excellent cafe style restaurant during the day. All new decor. It's called Latina Fusion and favors dishes from South America and Mexico, but the Mexican dishes have a different and delicious flavor. I consider this a real find...not the same old tex mex!

MY REVIEW: The best entree I've tried has to be the sancocho. Empanadas and tostones are very good. Although the red beans as well as rice need some work. Waitstaff is very nice and attentive. Over all great place to eat and hangout, weekend nightlife is great.
