MY REVIEW: Strong Points: freaking delicious coffee, best cappuccino I have ever had

Weak points: most everything else. A) The baristas are quite rude (i.e. "too cool", act like "...what now".) I actually heard one of them say to the other...in front of two people waiting for their whipped up cold coffees.."if you take another order for one of these stupid drinks I will kill you"..they didn't laugh..they may have been kidding about the killing part, but they sure weren't happy about making a whipped up "frappuccino" (um, it is hot as hell in Texas..gonna get a few orders for those).

B) Where are the prices? I mean, it isn't like "market price" lobster or anything...they should have prices...but whatever, I ordered.

c) There really is no menu, they do have 'specialty' menu with no prices.

Bottom line for me. I will return when I am in the area, because the coffee is really good, but I won't go as often as I would if they were friendly people.

MY REVIEW: I was really excited about this place.... Sad to say it was not that great. The coffee is pricey for what it is and it's such an awkward environment. You walk in and the person at the counter just stares at you, tells you the price, and then gives you your coffee... They don't even ask you what you would like to order for the day. Kind of creepy actually. The environment is not really great, like I said it is awkward.

E*mpire Cafe is infiniti times better and I consider that a true coffee shop, with the good coffees and atmosphere, not Inversion.

MY REVIEW: The strong points...They have really good coffee. And tea.

Weak points...pretty much everything else. Inversion started off really strong, and had a good thing going, but, because of the way montrose goes, trendy soon came along and reared its ugly head. The service is horrendous (as a hospitality major, YES, I can make such claims), and it's not becuase they're particularily rude, they just do nothing to say "please come back" in their actions.

NOBODY here knows my name (and look where my frequency button is!) I will make one exception for a lady who I haven't seen before and saw for the first time they other day. She clearly was making an effort to show that she was interested in the future of the company. Oh, and by the way, frequent buyer cards are simply a way of saying "We're not going to go out of our way to make you feel worthwhile, perhaps a carrot will help".

I must say, to most of the people on previous posts (I hate to refer to other posts, but oh, well, i'm not the first). This is not a TRUE coffee shop. It's a somewhat unique place to get coffee, as in the artwork is different than other places (*$ can't even claim so!) and it's fun for younger audiences to feel cool (and for the sad few older ones who still feel the need to be seen), but I know of two really good coffeeshops and REFUSE to talk about them for fear of another montrose takeover. But they do exist. I will say that "Unpoison" in the "Upper Altitudes" has hit it pretty close, but isn't quite there.

The sad truth is I know one of the managers, and he's a super-great guy, and its probably not his fault that things have gone so awry. I'm not jaded, just honest. I now choose to bring my business elsewhere, even with a half-completed comment card.

MY REVIEW: I went, I saw, I hated. The baristas were "too cool" to really care and the coffee was just ok. I was extremely saddened by this bad coffee experience. The decor was worn and not so clean...and even though this place has only been open for a year and a half, it looks much older. The pastries were rather dry and forgettable. Sorry, but this place gets a big thumbs down from me.

MY REVIEW: Great coffee, great baristas, beautiful art space. Inversion had me from hello. I was hoping for a decent latte and was treated to a cup of heaven. Definitely the place to be.

MY REVIEW: Probaly one of the best true coffee shops in H-Town. I was attracted by the design one day and decided to stop by and get me a cup of joe. It was great, always nice and friendly baristas. Good vibe, never noisy, great patio with lots of room. Great coffee, great location, great staff, overall greatness.

MY REVIEW: Wow, we had always wanted to stop by 'cause the look is so amazing...from the bamboos outside to the granite countertops...plus the coffee's good also. Support your local coffee shop -- down with S*tarbucks and corporate America!

MY REVIEW: Absolutely the best coffee house in the Montrose/ Riveroaks area. I always get the best service and coffee. These guys neve act like it is a chore to serve their customers...in fact they seem to know almost all of there customer base. The atmosphere is amazing with its industrial art feel. Beautiful custom wood work and seating as well as granite every where make it fell like even more of a substantial experience. They have all local food from various pastry chefs and catering companies, which equals fresh and fabulous. I heard talk yesterday about possible expansion into 5 stores by the end of next year...I can't wait to see them succeed. Way to go Inversion, you seem to be doing something right as you are always packed with customers.

MY REVIEW: Love this place but turn off the TV. What is it with Houston and TVs in bars and restaurants?! Wanna watch TV? -stay home. Watchin' a cool movie or the game is one thing...but the news? Also, it's like musical schizophrenia in there sometimes! Coffee is great, people are nice and I'm so happy there in the hood.

MY REVIEW: Inversion is a welcome addition to the Montrose neighborhood. A TRUE coffee house -- GREAT beverages, delicious (and affordable) munchies, cozy (not crowded) atmostphere, and a friendly attentive staff that will give S*tarbucks a run for their money. Plenty of parking in their own lot and free hi-speed WiFi make it a hit with the cyber crowd, too!

MY REVIEW: First visited this afternoon. I plan on becoming a regular. Open late (midnight during the week), comfortable tables/couches, plenty of plugs, free Wi-Fi, good coffee drinks, ok pastries, polite employees. Its only going to be a matter of time before word gets out and this place gets packed on a nightly basis. I really hope this place sticks around.
