The Local - Kitchen, Market, Bakery
120 That Way St, Lake Jackson, Texas 77566
MY REVIEW: I enjoy going to the local for a coffee or sandwich occasionally. I have noticed that some or one of the employees can act snooty towards the customers. My sister was down and wanted to go get a coffee and the employee insulted her when she mispronounced the name. Beyond getting over the employee it is a great place to grab lunch.

MY REVIEW: Had to make a trip to my old home town today and discovered this place and it's quite a find. I've heard a lot about Cafe A*nnice just down the street but never eaten there and I suspected this might be connected and that's confirmed by another poster here on b4.
Very nice setting; not an adventurous menu at all but I thoroughly enjoyed my Upper West Side sandwich - thinly sliced pastrami, cole slaw, Swiss and Creole mayo on grilled rye - and the pastry cases looked very enticing. However I didn't care for their version of potato salad that much.
Shiner and St. Arnold's beer plus some of the more common brews, Starbuck's coffee and Tazo tea - this is like something you might expect to find in a touristy town out West where you'd get stuck with much higher prices.
I'll definitely be going back when I have occasion to be in LJ. I may even try to get there in time to try one of the Breakfast Melts on Texas Toast.

MY REVIEW: Just went there today and was pleasantly surprised. You get to order at the counter so save on tip. The menu was diverse and the food was fresh. We liked the fact that it was different than all of the chain restaurants and wished we had something similar in the Sugar Land/Missouri City area. I would definitely go there again.

MY REVIEW: The Local ROCKS! I have traveled many places in the US and around the world and feel The Local is a real find. These folks obviously know food. This place could compete in foody towns such as Napa, Scottsdale, Austin or anywhere they choose to be. The menu choices are numerous, eclectic and tasty. The Jefferson sandwich is my favorite with Turkey, canberry sauce & cream cheese! The atomosphere is casual and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The first poster was obviously in a bad mood or poser, as the the staff was great and the refills were FREE. I can't imagine a better refill policy than that! Keep up the good work!

MY REVIEW: Lake Jackson doesn't have a lot of selection when it comes to dining out, so I had to try The Local when the building first opened. Honestly, the only thing more entertaining than reading the off-the-wall menu items is watching the affected, way snooty employees act toward the customers. I mean really, I know that The Local is one of the few trendy places in town, but reminding your customers of that fact is decidedly un-cool. After all, it IS Lake Jackson, Texas . . . Oh, and the food is overpriced for what you get; chintzy drink refill policy.

MY REVIEW: My favorite thing i have ordered there so far was the Hamburger. It was so delicious. I order my hamburger with only lettuce, pickles, and mayonaise, but there was so much flavor. The bun had a very sweet taste that was complemented well with the juicy hamburger patty. I also enjoy the sandwiches, french fries, and key lime pie. YUMMY!

MY REVIEW: I've enjoyed the Jefferson (turkey, cranberry sauce and cream cheese sandwich) and the soups are really good. Its hard to say what style of food they serve, very trendy. They're owned by Cafe A*nnice.
