MY REVIEW: We visited Taverna this past Saturday not sure what to expect with the new chef in place. All I can say is AMAZING! The service was spot on. The food was outstanding. We have been patrons of this establishment since it opened last year. Although the food was always good, the service was a D- at best and a typical meal would take up to 3 hours. We continued to visit Taverna because of our love for thier wine program. We will CONTINUE to visit now because of the service and quality of their great new menu. Thank you Chef Jimmy for coming to Conroe!

MY REVIEW: Having read the reviews here was very helpful. I knew to tell everyone to order appetizers and entres at the same time. We ordered wine - our bottle was in stock. The couple we were with weren't so lucky. They picked a wine out-of-stock and instead of telling them immediately the waitress waited till everyone else was served then disappeared. Our friend finally ran her down in the restaurant to give her his second choice. We all tasted various entres and they were all excellent. We had 7:30 p.m. reservations but next time I would try to get there earlier, as service seemed to decline and the noise level seemed to increase as the evening wore on. We finished eating about 10:45 p.m. and declined dessert, mainly due to the slow service. Great potential but need to improve the service.

MY REVIEW: Very good food, great changable menu, wonderful wines. I had great service the 1st 2 times and not so great the 2rd time. The next time we go I will ask for the person who waited on us the 1st 2 times. Really a great place.

MY REVIEW: Food was good, but the service was definitely the weak point. I would think that after some time the wait staff should improve a great deal once they are very familiar with the menu. I will go back again, and this time I am hoping for much better service.

MY REVIEW: I have eaten at Taverna many times and loved it every time. The food is always excellent and so is the service. There are always new and exciting things to try on the menu. You will not find this kind of place anywhere else, and it is by far the best resturant I have eaten at in the area.

MY REVIEW: I have eaten at this restaurant numerous times and I don't have a bad thing to say!! The decor is very elegant, with white table linens, rustic painting on the walls, and an old library sort of feel to the furniture....They happen to have a library adjacent to the gift shop!
On my most recent dining adventure I tried the beef fattayer, which was sort of like a meat pie. I've also tried the goat pies which were excellent!
I was there on Sunday for their Sunday Jazz Brunch. I highly recommend this. I sat outside enjoying the lovely view of the fields and woodlands while enjoying a fancified eggs benedict and an excellent TBLT (Taverna BLT) which had bacon wrapped roasted tomatoes, spinach, and garlic mayonnaise. Very yummy!
If you like fish, this is also a great place for you. Last night they had 6 different fish dishes on the menu, oh, and don't forget the stuffed squid!
The service is also great, with a friendly staff who are very knowledgable about the fare, which is somewhat exotic for Conroe!
This is a great place to spend a night out. My advice is to plan your evening around the dining experience and don't rush through it! The european style of dining should be savored for as long as possible!

MY REVIEW: This restaurant is absolutely fantastic. When we arrived we were greeted by a very attentive staff who led us to a lovely room surrouded by lovely views on 3 sides. The decor is lovely and soothing. We were there on a busy Saturday evening and didn't notice the noise factor that a few of the other reviewers complained about.
Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable about the offerings and let us know that we should order our dinner at the same time as our appetizers, since things are only cooked to order and there wouldn't be as long a wait if we followed her suggestion.
I can't say enough about the quality of the food here. Everyone should take a ride out to Conroe and have the best meal of their lives. I ordered one of the evenings specialties, something I might not have tried had it not been for the waitress's suggestion. It was a roasted shoulder of goat! This was a grass-fed goat, bought from a local Montgomery county farmer. The meat was incredibly tender and juicy, not overcooked and completely different from anything I expected. The garlic mashed potatoes were the real thing...no frozen or (Horror of horrors) boxed potatoes here. Fresh asparagus cooked just right.
I can't say enough about the desserts. The bread pudding I had was light and fluffy and so lovely. It was the best I've ever had. Every other dessert we sampled that night was also the highest quality.
This restaurant also has quite possibly the most inventive appetizers ever! Orchid blossoms filled with cheese, cranberries, pistachios and tequila. Shrimp with a chocolate chili sauce, shrimp in a half shell with mornay sauce, etc.
One of the owners was in the restaurant to talk to the guests and check on their dining experience. He was able to tell us all about the restaurant and let us know some of the great things they are planning for this restaurant.
Everyone should experience this place. I plan to go there frequently.

MY REVIEW: Excellent food, great surroundings, didn't find it noisey at all. Its a very comfortable place, with mostly friendly staff. The wait staff could be faster, smile a little more, but generally good service. This does not take away from how well presented the food is or the excellent quality of the food. Kudos to the chef! The chef's creations are very original and very tasty. Sunday brunch is particularly nice. The surroundings are beautiful...from the lovely windows, to the inside decor, the outside covered deck, the very comfortable and elegant entry way, and last but not least the VERY COOL wine room and gift shop! This place is a MUST VISIT! We will be spending a lot more time out here...even though its an hour drive! Whether you go for brunch, lunch or dinner, I strongly believe you will be pleased.

MY REVIEW: Very pretty location - dining room surrounded by large windows with a view of a wooded area. I went for lunch: tried the calamari which had a tomato sauce like no other I have ever tried! Then I also had the fish and chips which was pretty good. I will definately be back for dinner to try some of the other items!

MY REVIEW: Food very good and well presented. Service could be a little faster. Gratest fault is noise. Noise, NOISE. VERY LOUD NOISE. Almost impossible to have a normal conversation. Need some noise absorbing drapes on glass partitions and installation of acoustic absorbing ceilin tiles.
